Of course I am watching!! Been checking! My goal is to never disappoint! I love the way she steps back and allows the band to shine in their own right, also, Big Brother and the Holding Company. Easily my favorite! So glad to see you react with such enjoyment! It's the closest I can come to hearing it for the first time, myself. It was a treat for me, for sure, Love and appreciate you, too! Hope everyone's holiday season season is filled with all off your favorite things!! Godspeed!
you're the best! thank you again for this gem 💎
Great choice.
😁@@elysehfm8797 ❤
Excellent suggestion!
Really enjoyed this
Somehow people just don't understand Just. How. Good. She. Was.
Period.
She’s a hall of famer she’s an icon she opened doors a lot of people understood how great she is
To this day, she makes ALL of the hair on my body stand straight up accompanied by chills. I so wish i would have been able to see her. She definitely takes you straight to church. Such a shame she was treated the way she was when she was young. Such an icon. Cry Baby is anothe. Listen to the whole album, Pearl, start to finish, and go to church.
Only one Janis Joplin. Distinctive voice. Like no other.
One and only indeed ❤
She was the Queen of blues rock.
I believe she was the most electrifying female singer to ever stand on a stage ......there is no way you could take your eyes off her while she sang......
THIS is just REAL music! People who don’t need autotune, that’s what music is about. I’am 21 years old and everyone is looking weird to me if they ask about my music taste, but I love REAL music and people who give their hearts when they sing. That is what music is about! And that’s why I love Janis!
Love to hear that from a younger person. There is so much. Keep digging. Music was real, for sure, back then. I am so happy that I grew up during those times.
@@AugieDoggyDoolucky you!
@jndnosk2212 she makes the hair on the back of my neck stand straight up. Such power in that voice. Pink Floyd, Dark side of the moon, start to finish is amazing if you haven't been there yet.
Wild, emotional, controlled, soulful and vulnerable, all at the same time.
Her performance from Monterey Pop is a must see.
Her songs make me cry i can feel janice put her soul in her singing.
I've been a fan of Janis for 55yrs. Here are some her best work and most live performances are AWESOME:
1) Ball and Chain
2) Get it While You Can
3) Little Girl Blue
4) Me and Bobby McGee
5) Raise Your Hands
6) Summertime
7) Cry Baby
She was an American treasure that just wanted to be loved and poured out all of her love for the whole world to see
Hearing JJ always make me feel so sad. Such talent; such a lroubled life.
Same. Poor girl was just in her 20s, but depression and drugs made her look 50 and took her out WAY too soon.
Me and Bobby McGee, Piece of my Heart are my all time favourites, her voice is like no other, so iconic, you hitting some bangers today 👍🫶🏻💕🫶🏻
I'll get to those for you my dear ❤
After a few notes of electric guitar, a scream. Raucous and piercing at the same time, hoarse and heart-rending; it takes me by the guts and when I listen to it again today... it's the Janis Joplin effect...
That high-pitched range, that hoarseness that rises and intensifies, and can become crystal clear...
That scream that lasts forever, defying time, before softening like a caress.
Janis lived as she sang, intensely...
Thanks Teez!!!!🔥🔥🔥
Wazoo!! No, thank you!
@@TeezMcGee Who is wazoo???🤣😉
@@lepetitoiseauHe’s joined the Wazoo band wagon!
@@RUSHChick It's a great evening for le petit oiseau ( wazoo)!🤘
Wow! What a gift she was! ❤
Good choice, man! Janis had something special that just made her different. The great artists all do.
One my favorite female artist her and Stevie nicks .R.I.P. janis
this version of summertime with the layering of the band is something special
Janis wore her soul like a blanket trying to protect her from pain, hurt, anger, & even love! This woman was one of a kind, & sadly missed by everyone who loved & understood her music ❤ 💚 💙 She truly was a gift that was only with us for a short time, but what a glorious time it was!!! Thank you for such a thoughtful reaction ❤ 💚 💙
That's actually Big Brother and the Holding Company, before Janis went solo. It's a psychedelic blues rendition of the George Gershwin song from Porgy and Bess, circa 1935.
Classical blues rock - just a whole new thing. Incredible.
Best female singer who ever walked the earth
Janis Joplin is a legend, her other songs, especially Me and Bobby Mcgee is a classic. I havent missed one of her songs. Pity she died so young. 💯💯 ❣❣
Love your reaction. Church is at the end of this concert! Live 1969 Stockholm, Work Me Lord. That is a religious experience, Janis is fire!
This is my favorite tune. I think the studio version is better, but damn who can pass up watching Janis live?
I agree 100%. In the studio the lyrics are much more distinct, but seeing her live is worth the switch! Although this was released quite a bit earlier, when I was around 16 I had this on 8-track and the sound was terrible, but I didn't mind at all. Something WAY better than nothing, right? Thank God for UA-cam! I can have it all!
Real music! I'm glad you got to experience it!
I always felt sorry for her. She had so much pain. She was so lonely.
A True Legend!❤🕊🌹
This was a lullaby my mom sang to me 62 years ago
The song is a cover of a song from Porgy and Bess. The character Clara sings it to her baby, but the story in the song is that of a slave singing to the slave master's baby. I think this version is not going to put the baby to sleep.
damn that's deep man, Janis definitely did it justice 🙌
Years ago I watched every single video of every single rendition of "Summertime". This Janis Joplin performance is definitely the best ever. It truly captures the essence of the song.
This song is originally from the 1935 Opera Porgy & Bess. Billie "Lady Day" Holiday also does a great version of this song.
Maybe others have said?
This is Gershwin from Porgy & Bess. Joplin reconfigured it first in studio then live into a blues arena.
Joplin was great, one of the best singers of her time, and had every right to do that. I’m sure Gershwin would have loved it.
There's a great documentary on Janis, if you want to get to know her. The quality of the video reminds me of Melanie singing Lay Down in Holland. Really makes your hair stand on end.
Love me some Janis! Her voice and her heart let you peer into her soul!
Great reaction! Check out Janis Joplin Work Me Lord Live in Stockholm 1969. One of her top three performances! Last song of a long set, still unbelievable! Good luck!
Mr Teez, Yours is the best video of it's kind that I have seen! We get to see mostly Janis and just enough of you.
I got to see Janis at the Fillmore auditorium in '66 '67 , I was 15-16 years old and oh my goodness how I wished I was a few year older!
Those days felt like magic. The media hadn't discovered us . Thanks again
That means a lot! thank you so much for the kind words. Comments like this gives me fuel to keep going and i'm glad that i could spark that memory of yours, i love hearing stories like this 🙌
😯 Awesome!!! Lucky woman!
Well I mean you kinda already know what she looks like and sounds like duh….sooooo you’re here NOT here for HER or to watch her. You’re here for his REACTION right? So….him being tiny in the corner, seems kinda…azz backwards 😂
Ahhh the good ole days of real talent.
Keep in mind this was the 60’s--- This was different and exhilarating to us
I just found your channel. You’re fun! I appreciate you really getting into the music the way you do. Wishing you a successful 2024.
I have loved Janis 🔥since the 60’s, I was a teen the first time I heard Janis and have been a huge fan ever since. Broken hearted 💔 when she left the world so young (27)😢 So happy younger generations are discovering the music we are so lucky to have lived through & heard for the first time. Thanks for making my day 😻☮️🇨🇦 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
so great janis... so sad her departure!
She was it!!❤️
Dont forget this is George Gershwin. Check Ella Fitgerald singing this.
My god , I love Janis ❤she's amazing
I like this guy. Wasn't she just the best. Saw her twice in San Berdoo CA
It takes you on a. Journey true talent and an icon
This band is the upscaled one after Big Brother and the Holding Company. Janis's voice outclassed Birg Brother and this classic song deserved the best.
You so right man. She got it.
To thoroughly be taken to church, I highly recommend Janis singing “Work Me Lord” in Stockholm. It’s incredible.
I like the way you put her in the main frame and you in the corner, respect
If I'm not mistaken, Jimmy Johnson of the Cowboys went to high school with Janis.
Watch how she turns the stage over to the band and encourages them as they play. Few artists today would let the spotlight move from them for a second.
Mercedes Benz and Me and Bobby Mcgee are bangers. Janis was a black princess of soul from another mother ❤❤❤
Wild, huh? Happy Holidays sweetness😊
very wild 😂 happy holidays babycakes ❤
@@TeezMcGee lol, cute!!
❤️💛🧡
Yeah i remember this when i was 10 years old in the year of 1969❤❤
She's in the 27 CLUB😢 all the famous gifted talented that died at age 27😢😢
You need to listen to "Work Me Lord" - same concert live.
Work me lord, Live from what i am pretty sure is the same night, last song in the set. You are going to love it, it's arguably even better. You have been a great youtuber and my path of watching your stuff started with you being more then willing to dive into Tom Waits. Much respect for that. I put both tom and janis on my top 10 of real artists.
Yes, indeed.
Amazing
When the levee breaks is a good one!
Try "What becomes of the Brokenhearted" by Joan Osborn live with the Funk Brothers live. Funk Brothers were the back up to Many Motown great sounds.
If you want to feel like you’re at church even more, react to “Work Me Lord” by Janis in Stockholm.
Magnifica
💙💙💙
Janis, Maybe studio version
Maybe: Studio version
Shes the best femeale singuer haver ❤
The best
you know where summertime song comes from?? The only black opera Porgy & Bess
You must Work me parece
Amazing gone too soon
Big Brother and the holding Company! So not given props
I don't believe in heaven and hell and God. But I do believe her, Ella Fitzgerald and Amy Winehouse are sitting somewhere watching a stupid beef between Megan and Nicki and crying, because women need to stick together. we only got the right to vote like yesterday and this sh*t is so stupid, I can't.
I wonder if people would’ve gotten tired of her sound….she did kinda tend to sing the same with every song. The same vocal stuff and runs etc all of it…..🤷🏼♀️ Or was awesome obviously…..just seems samey song after song after song……she wasn’t around long,…
"Me and Bobby McGee" seems like she was already shifting from the straight-up blues. She was already evolving musically.
I LOVE YOU JANIS !
First time i saw one of your reaction....Janis, was a good friend of my master, Jimi Hendrix😂Real fantastic artists, who gave everything....who died too young....Nothing to do with the peoples making (not playing), music today anymore 😢Peace from France ✌️
