Just saw the Best of All Worlds tour, and it was phenomenal! Vocally and instrumentallly you could not have asked for a better show. At over 2-1/2 hours , played 14 VH songs out of 21.
Bonham is doing a great job paying tribute to both VanHalen as a band and to Alex!

The part about Alex's loss of desire to make music is understandable, if deeply saddening. The part about dishonoring Eddie's memory doesn't make sense to me. Does it honor or dishonor the memory of Mozart or Beethoven to have their brilliant music played in a concert? We're lucky to have 3/4 of all 4 lineups of Van Halen alive to honor Eddie. I'll be in the stands at the Jersey Shore to see Sammy, Mike, Joe & Jason play those songs that made me get serious about the guitar when I was a teenager. Van Halen's 2nd lineup changed my life!
It is amazing that me @17 saw VH 3x, including their 1st headlining tour. I grew up with them and remember the chemistry between the 4 members. That era, sadly, has passed. We are lucky to have all that glorious vinyl to listen to 40 years later. RIP Eddie ❤❤

@rickgarner9158 I saw AVH this week. I showed him all the UA-cam videos about fans unboxing his drums from his auction and all the videos and live podcasts about the VH legacy. He really appreciates it. It gives him joy. Dude not jaded at all. He's a super fun, uplifting and humorous guy. I wish Sammy would stop portraying him otherwise.

Alex and Eddie Van halen were close tight and were brothers. They started playing music together. They stated Van Halen together. Once Eddie died so did Van Halen. Alex decided he's done end of story. Wolfgang is doing his own thing with his own band and is doing awesome. If you want Van Halen to continue in your life. There are plenty of albums, songs and video to watch. As much as we want things to last forever. They dont. So cut them some slack and leave them alone give it a rest. Though you can always do what i do. I listen to thier stuff in my vehicle on the way to work and get the same happy feeling of thier music like it was the first time. Even though ive heard it a million times. Enjoy the journy of the day and keep rockin the awesomeness.

Who gives a shit? Eddie Van Halen isn't the end all be all. Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony and Joe Satriani are enough in their own right. In fact, eddie became Boeing and overplayed. He never evolved, he actually became over the years. As for Alex, he may need a good drummer, but he's unremarkable to most People.

This is not and never was it never will be a Van Halen reunion tour. Eddie can’t be replaced. Period. This tour is about all of the music Sammy was a part of for Sammy’s entire life
Yep EVH can't be replaced...having Joe Satch do his parts with Michael Anthony on bass & vocals + Sammy out front is pretty darn good and as close us fans gonna get to VH closure in a live forum. I'm flying to Vegas from Sydney, Australia...can't wait for this show! 🤘😊

Except that Sammy has never called it a "reunion tour". It's a tribute tour to EVH. Satch does not purport to be Ed and Jason does not purport to be Alex, but they both are accomplished musicians with tremendous talent. You must not follow music very closely. Sammy's time spent in VH was just a portion of a successful career. He was in Montrose. He had a great stint as a solo artist and was a member of various groups after Van Halen, most notably Chickenfoot. I saw VH 4X, 3 with DLR and once with Sammy. Don't get your panties in a wad. Sammy isn't calling the effort a "reunion". It's supposed to be an homage to the late, great Eddie Van Halen.

I dont think Al needs anything or anyone to help with good memories and he wrote a book to help move forward. Perhaps for Al, not playing music has been helping him move forward? Maybe....? I think if Al was more healed tat he might have considered because I do see how it could have been a celebration. He might have enjoyed working with someone like Joe.... might have enjoyed showing Joe a trick here and there that his brother used on songs.

Sammy does short tours every year which heavily feature Van Halen songs.
Only difference with this one is they actually took time to rehearse a full show. Usually when he's solo it looks like he's winging it at times.
Shit Jason Bonham and joe satriani rocked it anyways..best of all worlds tour is rocking the nation from town to town and it don't get no better then this band formed..they rocked Tampa..what a great pics to fill in on drums and guitar with Bonham and especial ally joe satriani..

I went to the show in Atlanta. 5th time seeing Sammy. It was phenominal. But it was also bitter sweet.

Al has lost his brother and his best friend. People grieve in their own time in their own way. There is no Van Halen without Eddie and Al. The only person I can ever see standing up there on stage in Eddie's shoes would be his son Wolfgang and no doubt Wolfgang is also grieving after the loss of this father. Huge loss to lose your Father and Your best friend. Jason Bonham is a great drummer taking after his father John Bonham. Satriani is a great guitarist, no doubt, but Van Halen brothers are missing, so sadly there is no Van Halen.

as a fellow musician I understand the bond you make with a band member musically, when they leave the band it's never the same - that must be kicked up tenfold by also being brothers. ac / dc almost did the same thing when Malcom passed, and I think so did the bass player from Nirvana, just to name a few - it's pretty common for one musician to inspire and actually be the reason for another musician to play, and when that influence is gone then so is the desire to play.
Eventhough Eddie & Sammy made amends months before Eddie's death,I feel like all the shit Sammy said about Eddie when he was at his worst,both physically & mentally,is the primary reason why Alex won't talk/associate with Sammy. IMO,Its just something that he is never gonna forgive Sammy for.

This may be true but Alex was a pure asshole. you need either red the book or listen to the audiobook Runnin' with the Devil. It was written by Noele Monk. Monk spent seven years with Van Halen, serving first as their tour manger then as their personal manager until 1985, when both he and David Lee Roth exited as controversy, backstabbing, and disappointment consumed the band. Alex tried to say he was embezzling money, until the audit showed they actually owed him more money. Of course Alex wanted him gone because at the time his girlfriend's brother was a "manager" and though he could do better for the band.

At almost 73 years old, he is no longer mentally or physically capable of playing a full VH set anymore. Plus, he is still pissed off at Hagar and Anthony for stupid shit from 30 years ago. Wolfgang Van Halen isn't going to join because he doesn't want to make his favorite Uncle Alex look like an even bigger asshole than he already is....That is the real reason and we all know it.

@@rickgray2465 Probably because no musician, especially those who experience world-renowned popularity year-after-year, would ever completely leave themselves without some form of gear to [at least] play once in a while, if only on their own in a private situation. I have no proof, but I too believe Al would NOT have sold ALL of his gear... he loved playing far too much.
I could never get rid of all of my gear. If I didn't have a guitar around for -- even for simple personal enjoyment -- I would possibly lose the rest of what's left of my mind. I'd have to have at least one "little friend" around to comfort me and take me away from life's BS when it gets to be too much.
I would bet almost anything Al still has a kit somewhere... no matter how large or small.

He would say 'I always knew that this piece of wood with 6 strings would never hurt me. Unlike other people , or girlfriends, or management, or contemporaries...I could express my emotions through it and let it all come flowing out into something creative'....I felt like that too when I was 16-17 when I'd been through the painful bullying hell of 6 years of English Private school...That's why when I read ED talking about this stuff in his interviews I empathized with him so much.
