- The MacMaster is in New York City at Hamburger America which has gone viral online, it's an internet Sensation, Hamburger America has ben set up by George Motz. Motz has appeared on TV shows, taught university classes, written books, and even made a film about hamburgers. Now, he's brought his wealth of knowledge to New York City by founding a new restaurant in Soho of all places with the same name as his 2004 film, Hamburger America.
On the day of filming George Motz himself was there cooking up his speciality burgers and The MacMaster even got to speak to George himself and ask about future plans for Hamburger America.
The BIG question is do the burgers at Hamburger America live up to all the hype?

Can't tell a lie, Lee.
In my opinion, that's the best vid you've ever done.
You struck lucky there, with the owner on the grill and the two brilliant restaurateurs.
10 out of 10 for me, great stuff!!!!!
Thank you. 😎
Our very own, Lee, the MacMaster, spreading the love in the USA. Brilliant!!! definitely worth a share.
I am in Houston (H-Town) and yes, these guys have some killer grub, definitely worth the trip down. 🤠👍
I love how friendly Americans are. You say you wanted to come to one of those guys' restaurants, and they invite you into their homes, great hospitality.
As a Canadian, some friend and actual friendly country, I have not had that experience in the US
Another great video Lee and it was lovely to have your guest Texans give their expert opinion too. George seemed a nice guy and it was great to hear him complement his staff.
Excellent video Lee this is one of my favourites.
I checked out both of the Texas gents' websites and they have some great looking establishments. Adding to the calls for you to visit Houston and try their food out.
Sir, we desperately need a Lee in Texas/Oklahoma series. Show us the high school stadiums, steakhouses, diners, Mexican joints, malls, Winstar casino, Jerryworld, NASA, the Alamo, Whataburger, Uvalde, lol.
Wow, great video, really enjoyed it. Loved the two guys you met. You must go check out their restaurants. Food looked delucious. Cheers
Please go to Texas and visit the two fellas restaurants. Take Martin too!
He needs to.
Come see us at Los Tios
Now I have *18* new places to try on my next trip to Houston. Thanks amigo
Happen often? I dunno, but I've heard there's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis.
Yes, it looked good but what made it so good?? What did it taste of?? What cheese was it? I have seen dozens of burgers, a lot looking better, wish I could taste it!! Just to see if it was special! So who else has had them??
It was everlent vlog.
Excellent video Lee, it turned out great! We enjoyed meeting you. Can’t wait until you make it down to H Town and visit us.
Outstanding Lee. I love all of George's books and videos covering the world of burgers. I've learned a few tricks to re-create what I like at home through George's research. I wished him well and much success with the storefront. I would have liked to have seen more interaction with George but, he's not ready to turn the spatula over to just anyone. See ya in the next one Lee.
Wow I have George motz's burger book and have made the onion smash burger. Unfortunately no plans to head to the USA sample the real thing. Thanks for that Lee 🍔
Big fan of George. His passion for a good burger is obvious, and the enthusiasm comes through.
What’s your secret ? You ought to be a right chunk considering the amount of burgers you eat 🤣🤣
Hey Macmaster, just back from my first solo trip to New York last week, and managed to visit Hamburger America. I visited on a sunday afternoon and there was no line outside, but a few minute wait for a counter stool inside. As in your video, George Motz was on the grill that day too. I managed to bag a seat at the counter (where one of the two guys you met was sitting), and George said hello to me. I had a single fried onion burger, with fries and a coke (had been to Bleecker Street for a slice of Nonna earlier, so just went with a single patty).
The burger was excellent, the venue and staff was great, and being able to sit at the counter and have a burger cooked by George himself just made it. Definitely worth a vist, and its on the list for my future visits. #Onwards, my friend. 🕶
Looks great! George was a food critic who started a burger joint. So, time to open MacMaster's Burgers. Leeds, Mansfield and Hoboken. Strapline, I'm bloggin it!!!!
Wow, what a vlog. Absolutely incredible. Loved every minute of it. Definitely gonna go there when I’m next in New York. 10+ out of 10 Lee 👍🏻
Absolutely loved this and those 2 guys with you! You defo need to visit them two!! ☺️❤️
Mister Macmaster!,well Lee when you see the gut who owns the franchise behind the counter working alongside work colleagues then that fir me speaks bloody volumes 😊❤food looked terrific & fair play to the guy & wish him every success in his passion for his work how refreshing to see! Great vlog 👍 🎉
Good Afternoon Lee. I really Enjoyed this video. What a Wonderful Burger Establishment. And, to actually see the Owner cooking the Gorgeous and Substantial Burgers himself, that has got be just the Best Experience. To meet, two of the most Lovely and Welcoming Gentlemen, who own a lot of Restaurants themselves. Your Burgers looked absolutely very Well cooked and Presented. So, so Delicious and your Chips were perfect. To meet and to have a conversation with George himself, Lee you were very Lucky to be there. Glad you Enjoyed your Meal and the Whole Atmosphere. This was far Greater than any other Burger Fast Food place. This i will Score in Total..... 10++/10.
George is the OG of burgers: history, different types, etc.!
So good to see Louis Walsh at the end of the counter enjoying his burger too 🤣
If there was a You Tube Oscars I'd nominate this vlog for one. It was perfect entertainment and those two Houston Restauranteurs need their own You Tube channel ASAP because I'd definitely subscribe.
Food looked great although the place looks proper chaotic!
My takeaways: Meat should be bigger than the bun. Take notes McD. The two guys from Texas scored correctly, and forced you to do the same. Lately you have been handing out too many tens. On your old scoring system this would have been a twelve. I hope you keep this re-valued system going when you get home.
Lee is acting like this George Motz is as famous as Randolph Scott in Blazing Saddles.
Ah think ya mean Lee Marvin.
Lee and randy in blazing saddles ?
@@fergusmurphy8521 No i got the movies mixed up. Lee was in paint yr wagon, and randolph retired 10 yrs before blazing was made. So neither were in it.Gene wilder was star of blazing.Plus mel brooks who plays about 8 diff pple. Anyhow.
Excellent video… and your two new buddies added to the fun. Yes, you are followed by us in New York 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It doesn’t have a ton of extra toppings like bacon and a fried egg BUT I strongly suspect it’s done perfectly and is absolutely delicious.
Swap the bun for 2 thick slices of raw yellow onion. Layer o some piping hot lettuce and ketchup. The best burger
@@oldironsides4107 That sounds terrible. Absolutely dreadful!
Great video. So jealous, great looking burger. Love nice meat, medium well, soft fresh bun, loads of onions, lots of colmans mustard, perfect burger 🍔
Loved the review! The gentlemen from Texas were great!!
An "egg cream" is an old New York Lower East Side thing. It has no egg or cream. It is syrup (usually chocolate), milk and seltzer, essentially an ice cream soda without the ice cream. Some places would put in a raw egg on request.
Owner mucking in with his staff cooking food 👌 looked great 👍
Great vid. You should definitely visit those two fellas in Texas , sitting in their backyard. Sipping a beer.and sampling the local delicacies
Fabulous video, and your two guests, made it more interesting, with a professional opinion as restauranter, loved it 😊
Those burgers looked delish. Nice couple of guys you met too. Timed it right meeting the boss 😊
Great video and great burger too … you and the two Americans defo singing from the same song sheet … George definitely a star too … 👏☺️👏
Just watched an interesting snippet on YT...... (CD Chargedrive) ,,,,,,putting forward safety issues & deaths occuring when EVs are bursting in to flames. A young guy in USA was involved in an accident when his Tesla caught fire he was unable to get out due to the whole electric system failed as a result he did make it out of the car.....😢😢😢😢😢😢. Keep safe Lee x
I was thinking, if he eats all that they'll be carrying him out.
is that Louis Walsh sitting at the background?
Great video Lee. You have to go visit your new mates from Texas! Its amazing who you can meet in a queue! Love your New York vlogs. Cheers from Oz
Excerlent update vlog Lee seeing new York.
umm, that great burger. next trip Lee Houston Texas can't wait🍔
george who the f..k is george ?????
I’m excited for this video I was waiting for someone to do George’s burgers
What did the burgers cost, it all looked like a large meal. In the UK you can still feel hungry after a visit to a burger bar 😛
Not sure as the lovely restauranteurs paid for me. 👍🏼
This place will definitely be on our to do list when we go back to New York 🍔
Never heard of him but looks good & nice couple lads
😊😊😊😊 WOW I wish we had George’s shop BURGER AMERICA out here in San Diego, California 😊😊😊😊RATE IT 12😅😅😅 These two gentlemen are awesome must try their spots in Texas please put a link for them Lee thanks.😊😊😊😊
You got to go to Texas now. I'm intrigued and will make good viewing for the channel. Two great guys you met. Maybe future material with them.
Great vlog Lee, them guys seemed really good blokes. 👍 🏴
i hope it keeps busy after the hype dies down
Great vlog Lee. Your two new mates got plenty of free plugs in.
The smashed burger bun was all over the place. The smashed onion burger looked great. The portions weren't exactly massive.
Lastly Lee, George who. Never heard of him.
Brilliant video Lee...one of your best!...burgers looked amazing, I'll be going there next time I'm in NY...and also the two guys with giving their feedback...spot on!
Well done mate, onwards!
Mac on Blue Monday you have given us a 10 plus plus video.. thanks
That just looks fantastic, and everyone just look happy. That was a nice touch with the hand sanitizer. Can't imagine them doing that here in the UK at any burger joint. Looking at those burgers, instant 11; out of 10.
That was brilliant Lee, please continue visiting these excellent venues. My dad wanted me to work in a Burger Bar, he used to sing to me 🎵"Son you be a SPATULA Boy🎶😂. Regards, Bob M, South Wales
Lee I don't know who this George guy is, but when it comes to Burgers. The Daddy is Chris Higgit, cheapest burgers in the ""WORLD"" 👍👍😁😁
When looking at the fried onions I couldn't help thinking of brown sauce.
Well that couldn't have worked out better for you if had pre arranged it...Great video 👍👍👍
Hey hun I must say that those burgers look so amazing and very tasty and good quality food. For my score is 10 plus for both of them burgers hey no wonder it was packed if the burgers are cooked fresh on the premises xxx
Thanks for this. Must visit one day
Those burgers looked awesome Lee!
It's a hamburger, it's not like he invented the wheel or found a cure for cancer. 😂
Looks like a great owner doing it right
The Mac is back! doing what he does best.👌
We shared the same flight from Manchester, I wanted to visit this place, sadly we ran out of time aa we're back to Blighty today

150 k subs well deserved. Keep creating because you are obviously great at that. Has for the haters. You have the viewers. Respect from an expat in Paraguay
Is that Louis walsh in the background next to those guys? Is he scouting for Americas got talent? Cannot beat flat top made burgers, especially in the US
Hope you get to pop over to Texas and review their restaurants at some point in the future.
WoW I bet you can't believe your luck meeting 2 good lads plus the restaurant owner. You look like a kid in a sweet shop ❤
Looking forward to you going to them 2 guys you met to review there food
One of your best Lee well done. Now onwards too Texas
Super content as usual Lee…..10/10
Lee, you have to go and visit those boys in Texas take big Dave
I have to say that this vlog was one of the best you've done. I really enjoyed that, and it's a 10/10 from me.
I love fried onions in my burger. Even Wimpey in the 70s used proper sliced fried onions! Perhaps McDonald's should take note! 👀👍
Wow McMaster you really knocked it outta da Park with this one ☝️……🏆🥇🤙your a legend 💙⚡️
What's with the hand sanitiser... minute he comes anywhere near me with that he can do one
A burger is a burger to me but these looked Great as they would fit in my gob lol. So many reviews today feature a burger that wont fit in people mouths, what are these places trying to prove, and what a mess, I love a basic plane Cheeseburger with Onions, its always good. I've got to say it was a pleasure to see the two American guys from Texas, I could tell these guys where the real deal and truly decent folks, I'm in Oregon but if I was in Texas Id certainly give them a try, both sounded right on the Money.
That guy knows exactly how to make a burger. You smash the patty to absorb the taste and exert the taste. It's a formula that works stupendously because the cheese also sinks into the bite with the burger ratio...It's a beautiful concept.
He's not doing anything revolutionary.
No, but the burger is amazing. I've never had one either, you just know they're great.@@dickriggles942
If SpongeBob owned his own restaurant there would be similar vibes. This is a compliment
Another great food review Lee. Food looked amazing and well done for meeting the Resturant owners
Very good and made me feel very hungry.Also-why do you call them ham burgers when they are made with beef? Well done.
Because the Hamburger originated in Hamburg Germany, and was brought to America by German immigrants,so named after Hamburg, not pork.
WOW! What an episode that turned out to be for you. The onion burger looked like the winner for me. Fries looked good too.
One of your Best :-)
Great choice. I only recently heard and started watching videos about him. A legend.
A great review Mac, I liked the music whilst you waited to get in there I'm hoping to try that place in November if all goes to plan....
i cant remeber the last time i had a burger bigger then the bap in the uk, we are being numberwanged lol
George Motz is the GOAT of burgers!!!! Brilliant video Mr. McMaster.
Lee you literally sat next to two of the richest food guys in Texas. I think Gourmet or Bon Appetite named them the Beef Barons of Teluordune.
Wow. They were some of the nicest people I've met. Even invited me to their house to cook for me. Was a pleasure to meet them. Made my day. 👍🏼
I need a burger now, they look amazing.
No Ev's in New York Lee lol I think it would be worse than the UK to find a public charger over the pond lol.
Hi Lee great video, music really good know a place must be good for food if people queuing up outside.
I agree milk shake bit odd but burgers looked cooked to perfection like you given it 9 out of 10 look forward more great videos👍
Thanks Brian.

All I have thought about for the last two days was finding if I can get an Oklahoma smash burger in uk and then me making some at home!!
I live in Stagecoach , which is very close to Tomball ..and the absolute bestest burgers in Texas are found at a place called Chris Madrid's in San Antonio ..hands down
😇❤
Great video and just checked out those guys craft grill reviews on Google. Looks amazing the burger photos look absolutely delicous! I need to visit Tomball
Looks like a smashing place, with a smashing burger. Couple of smashing lads to go with it, what's not to like.
