Just been diagnosed last Wednesday. Such a mental and emotional month. Learning how to watch what I eat and to hopefully gain some weight back!
My heart goes out to you. I feel this 💯 it’s tough.

As I write this my son is in the hospital in NYC with colitis. He is 56 and is down to 114 lbs. I saw him at Christmas and I didn't think he looked good, and he was sleeping 12 at a time. I think its been coming on for awhile. He was just been diagnosed yesterday, so we don't know that much about it yet. Thank you for sharing your story. 💕

Damn you had it gnarly. Sorry to hear that you had such a bad doctor at first, that's so incredibly frustrating. Happy to hear you're in remission too. I've been on entyvio for almost a year now, and doing nightly enemas with mesalamine since mine is mostly limited for sigmoid colon.
I've crapped myself when out and about a few times, that's always fun. Hoping for remission soon. Shout-out to everyone else dealing with this and thanks for sharing your story.

I'm so sorry everyone brushed your pain off for so long.. I'm glad you are starting to learn what works for you. I have been "diagnosed" with colitis / gastritis which obviously isn't really an answer. I got a terrible colon infection called C Diff at the age of 18 & was given an antibiotic that almost killed me :( Nothing has been the same since then and several doctors cant figure out what is causing the continued inflammation. I hope one day I also get an official diagnosis. Keep your spirits high & I will try too!

Seeing this really helps me on a emotional level as there are people who willl understand my situation. I have been going through a lot of the same symptoms for the last week but as soon as I saw blood it freaked me out that its something serious. Went to the doctor next day and voila I have UC. Have started some meds now and will see how it fares in the next few days and then decide my next step. Thanks a lot :)

Thanks for sharing your story Ruby. Are you still receiving infusions of Inflectra? I started receiving Inflectra at the end of March 2023, and this medicine has helped me so much. I'm doing everything possible to give Inflectra the best chance to remain effective: No alcohol, and no caffeine. And I drink a smoothie from homemade kefir each day. And I drink a large glass of water first thing each morning. I wish you and the other people who have UC all the best!

Ugggggh, you have it way worse than me, i flared once 15 years ago pretty bad and was diagnosed really soon after, was on lialda for a minute until i couldn't get it through my insurance (700$/month)
Stopped altogether but i just had a minor flare. Some discomfort and lots of bathroom visits. Back on genetic lialda and feeling better already

You can heal from UC but it takes years with proper diet, supplements and medication. Meat, seafood, and eggs are super safe foods. Some steamed veggies. Small amounts of fruit. But that's it. No grains, no dairy, no refined sugars, no raw veggies, no nuts or seeds, so nothing hard to digest. UC sufferers need to reduce what's causing the inflammation (medication helps) but it's not addressing the root cause. So diet is essential. Test to see if you have SIBO and SIFO which would contribute to the inflammation and also makes it hard for your body to breakdown foods. Take probiotics, gut collagen and L-Glutamine to restore the gut lining and reducing inflammation.
    Hope that helps!

Thanks for the suggestion, but although this route will not work for me like it may for others! My case is very severe unfortunately, and my UC flares aggressively even when I’m not technically sending anything through my GI tract! This past summer I was in my worst flare yet, and I was on a TPN for 45 days. This means I was not eating anything solid during this time (only drinking water and other fluids) and I was receiving all the nutrients I need through my PICC-Line. Even in this case my colon almost had to be removed, but luckily stelara saved it! I plan to make a video in the near future explaining my situation in detail:) thanks for watching my video!

I am sorry that you've had this horrible experience with uc. I had uc for 30 years and did everything the dictors told me and only got worse. They wanted to cut part of my intestines out and i said NO! I came across this special diet and eventually got off all meds .. it's called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. The doctors are pill pushers. Take charge of your own health. By the way, I have been off medication for over 10 years.

Same condition I have for almost 2 year now but I still don't know what it is.. From beginning of the first year (2020) my symptoms was constipation with bloating and burning sensation and I fart more than 20X times a day n wherever I have my bowel movement in the toilet nothing comes out and I goes around for more than 2 week. Then I start to go see a doctor but still nothing change even with the medications only the stool came out when I take laxatives.. It goes like this for 5 month and I start to do colonscopy which show nothing except mild rectum inflammation...it goes like this for 1 year and half and in 2022 the right side bowel sound like a drum 🥁on slapping or percussion everyday even after meal which is very scary..Till Now I'm depressed with this stupid thing and even I lost 22 pounds of weight
