    Hello Ashlee I live in Manchester UK, and I have had Ulcerative Colitis since 2008. Every morning I awake to feel such dread to sit on the toilet because of painful bowel motions. 2 things have helped me: sitting in a bowl of warm water with Epsom Salts, and the other using a Microwavable Heat Pad to sit on. I am 65, 66 in March. Your video was nice. Thanks Kevin😀.

    Thankyou for this post! my 7 year old was diagnosed with pancolitis last year when she was in year 1. We still haven’t found a medication that works well, she has had steroids on and off.. tried mesalazine, tacrolimus and now trying Vedolizumab this week with hesitation. All the best with your remission 😊

    My gf is in remission now after 8years. She's been taking Livespo colon recently, a liquid form probiotic for IBD. It took her 4days and symptoms all gone, highly chances are 'cause it's liquid so it effects much better. Product is often out of stock tho, last time I had to order it all the way from Vietnam.

    Hey I just got diagnosed with UC when I got my scopy it looked really inflamed and so many ulcers. I was in the hospital for 3 weeks and never felt more terrible. I lost 15lbs! And look so sickly so when I came home I was overwhelmed and broke down about how different I look, I wanted to break up with my fiance because I felt guilty for him to be with a person with this disease and he wouldn’t let me go. Right now I’m on prednisone and my flares are mild but I find night time really hard to sleep as I have a lot of back pain and mild cramping. I’m scared about the future and I’m scared that I’ll never feel normal again. This is all new to me and some of the comments have just stressed me out even more. My aunt has it and my uncle has it and they said it doesn’t bother them at all, they have been in remission for years and my aunt gets infusions every 2 months for it

      You’re going to go through so many emotions. It’s a tough thing to get your head around and it took me years! You’ve got this though! Having family in the same boat is so so helpful, lean on them because they will understand!

    I also have UC I got diagnosed in march (the sypthoms started in january). I'm on a liquid diet and som meds and that seems to work for me; I'm not saying it will work for every one. I'm hoping to start solids again next week becuse I'm almost symptom free. My goal is to be able to eat some christmas dinner :).

    My boyfriend has UC! I cook for mostly me and him, I just bought several cookbooks (low FODMAP, gluten free, etc) but I’m wondering what you think is best as far as diets for UC?!

    • @ashleesalmi3069
      @ashleesalmi3069  5 років тому +1

      Haleigh Luker gosh you’re amazing!! I tried all of that but what I have found now is colitis hates grains. So by cutting out all the grains has been the best thing I ever did. Does he still flare or is the way he is eating, working for him?

    • @Strongerbyhaleigh
      @Strongerbyhaleigh 5 років тому +1

      Ashlee Salmi so grain free and gluten free or just grain free?? And whenever he’s home, he’s in the Air Force and with his job he’s TDY (away for training) 2-3 weeks every 3-5 weeks, I cook for him and he says it starts to get better but by the time it does he’s having to leave again and eat hotel food and whatever the team eats when they go out to eat. It seriously breaks my heart for anyone who has to deal with this because he’s always so nauseated, tired, and lethargic. Recently it’s been really bad due to stress, he’s been losing around a liter of blood a day and you can see the ulcer tissue passing. It’s really scary. He’s on mesalapine but as far as he says, it doesn’t really do anything whatsoever. Have you ever tried probiotics? Do they help? I will take whatever advice you have because I truly hate seeing him suffer like this. It really affects our lifestyle as to what we can and can’t do because when he is home he just wants to sleep and chill out praying it’ll get better before he has to leave again.

    • @ashleesalmi3069

      Haleigh Luker totally understand. That’s super hard that he is away as I know from experience it’s really difficult to choose foods to eat out. I would go totally grain free gluten free, it’s super hard at first but it works! Look up the Specific Carbohydrates Diet. It looks full on, but when you break it down, it’s not too bad. It’s all worth it for the relief you get. Add me on insta and feel free to talk to me on there, even if it’s for support! X

      Ashlee Salmi I used to be a vegan for 2 years, but now that I’m back on a regular diet cutting out gluten and grains shouldn’t be hard. I just want to make him healthy and not in pain! And aww I would but I don’t have social media!
