What a terrific adventure! To stand where so much history occurred...just fascinating to think about. You all bring me my happiness from afar. Thanks so much!
When I was 18 back in 1971 I stayed on Mykonos at a beach called ‘Paradise’, where there was George’s taverna. It was a nudist beach with lots of American students with whom we partied in the evenings. Such fun for an innocent guy just out of a boys boarding school! We swam out to a rock to sunbathe. I met Jill, who was 28, and I’ll never forget those 3 weeks! ‘Super Paradise’ was the next beach, for ‘gays’. We slept in bamboo shelters at the back of the beach, and shared an outdoor shower with the folk at the end of the day. Bliss!
Greece has the most amazing and beautiful architecture. The contrast between the white and the blue is just breathtaking- My father's family is from the island of Crete. I have begun planning a trip to take my wife and kids. Alright Bobby and crew may you have safe sails and continue to have the time of your life.
I went to Greece in 2019 and visited Delos. So beautiful and an amazing experience. We also went to Mykonos, I could totally live there. I actually liked it more than Santorini. I need to go back.
I agree SVDelos is an awesome boat, and an awesome channel, but in this case they are refering to the Island near Greece. I love Florencia (SP) in these videos! She is just SO cute! Hope to see her in more Sailing Doodles vid's!
I saw Delos last week. I watched the Alan Ladd ,Sophia Loren movie A boy on a Dolphin and Delos made an early appearance in the movie. Great classic movie. If your adventure is anything close to theirs you'll have a cool time.
At 8:00 AM, in this case, the Greek military is raising their flag for morning colors while their national anthem is played over the loudspeakers. If other militaries are stationed on the base, their national anthem will be played, too after the host country's anthem is played. The color guard will stand and salute all national anthems until the last note. Reveille is played to wake up the troops/sailors.
I was in the Air Force late 70s, early 80s... Used to ride my bicycle to work most days... When I'd hear that bugle start to play, I'd stop my bike, get off and stand at attention, rendering a salute facing the nearest visible flag, or just facing the sound of the music...
During RIMPAC In Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, you rushed inside to avoid morning colors, otherwise, you would be standing and saluting for a very long time until the last anthem was played. Needless to say, the salute was looking very pathetic towards the end. 😆
That's why they call Mykonos the "windy island"!! In the summer, mostly July and August, 30kn winds are very very frequent, even 40kn and 50kn. The Aegean is usually a very windy place in the summer! The kind of glass-like calm seas you experienced in the first days (we call them 'bounatses'), are a rare sight in the Aegean. Enjoy your travels!!
Absolutely love Greece and the Greek people but unfortunately with the pandemic and being diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year we haven't managed to get back yet......Hopefully back very soon though. Love the videos guys xx
Hi Delos, I have watched your videos since you started making UA-cam. And I loved your brother Brady, because he always gave energy. You did this for many years and Tyler is the last person onboard, that also gave energy to your crew. Of course, so many between. But the last, since you have been alone, it haven’t been all that fun to watch delos. Is more well let’s pretend we are doing something. But you never gave a proper introduction to your new friends at sea. Some of them you spend a lot of time with, but I was always unsure, are this the same people I saw in previous videos. Not very easy to follow, when you don’t know peoples names, so really not great. I hope your new crew will lift my spirit. Thanks
Mykonos, the wind island, the Meltemi, as we call it, the breeze that whisked Odysseus away from Troy to his legendary adventure, the same wind that whisked Agememnon, Nestor, and Achileas to Troy, the same wind that whisked Andonius into the hands of Cleopatra in Alexandria, the same wind that led Western civilization to explore the Mediterranean from the coast of Anatolia to the narrows of Gibraltar the Heraclian gate as was known back then
That's why Mychonos is called the island of the wind... there's a name for the winds there but I forget🤣.. awesome video guys, well done again 👏🏼 🤙🏼🇿🇦 from Adrian in Cape Town South Africa 🇿🇦
Having visited every country on the northern and eastern Mediterranean I never cease to be amazed at the 1000's of tons of stone moved to build cities with only muscle power. And shaping the stones precisely with only bronze and untempered iron. Those workers had to be fed. They didn't look for scenery. They wanted defense and water supply
That was probably the Greek National Anthem being played while they raise the National flag in the morning as due most military of every country. 0800 for the USA.
Sorry to spoil it for you but the paint thing is a council / tourist thing they make you do it before each season walls with footpaths white and windows and doors red or blue

Greece is definitely on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Bobby, for the " can sink my teeth into the vlog, great length, great content, " love watching the sailing,
that music playing in the morning at the military base was the Greek national anthem.

Can’t wait! SV Delos is one of the best UA-camrs out there.

14:18 So Steph likes it a little rough. I knew it!
Awesome
Bobbie gets to be a 'Commodore' !
Reveille is when you get up and Turn 2. Most navies play their national anthem or the like at 0800 local time
Absolutely love Greece and the Greek people but unfortunately with the pandemic and being diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year we haven't managed to get back yet......Hopefully back very soon though.

Thank you Doodles! Looked up Dionysus and learned something new! 🙂 Greek mythology is not in my future 🙄
Try sivota in greece, paksoi antipaksoi, parga, corfu, zakynthos, lefkada, and the island of Odysseus Ithaca
In the beginning, I thought you were visiting SV Delos.😆 I was pranked.
I thought for sure that tattoo on her arm was Blackbeard, thanks for clearing that up!
It was a huge trading center for med. It was replaced by another more convenient hub
Rhodes
Nice
Schedule won't allow me to watch live, but I will be sure and watch asap!
Bobby, I am sure someoen else has said this already. I bet the music coming across the anchorage is the Greek "National Anthem". Reveille indeed!
👌 super super 👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Come in Tokyo !!!!
Here for all the folks who think you hopped a flight to Costa Rica to meet up with the other Delos 🤣
Lol, that was indeed what was in my mind first.
I thought that too!!!! 😂🤣😂
Is Taylor still in Delos?
@@cesara136 Was she in Delos? I know that she was on SV Delos.
First thing I thought... Another person visiting the Delos? 😂

....a full round turn on the cleat / ring / bollard (in this case) generally will decrease the rate of chafing on the (dock) line....
Mykonos also known as the island of the winds
Very good Viedo again ! Can T make it for this Sumer but If you organize another for celebrating 2023 in BVI im in !
Remind me to never go to that place that wakes you up at 8 in the morning! Lol
At last sailing with wind and waves. 🤣
The song in the beginning was the Greek National anthem
Erm guys - lifejackets and harnesses (especially on the foredeck)?
I thought this was a collab video with SV Delos, lol!
Stephanie standing on the Mykonos dock , looked like she needed a safety line.
“The Greek way” OMG
That was the Greek national anthem that they played.
That was probably the Greek National Anthem being played while they raise the National flag in the morning as due most military of every country. 0800 for the USA.
Cistern is the word
The Dinghy scoots!!!!!
The song was the national anthem.
lol i truly thought it was the other sailing show
That was the Greek anthem playing
Wait. You're promoting Brian's channel? Cool That's okay, I've seen the "The Nugget" drawing "Doodles"...
What bar and restaurant did the crew go to? On our way in July
That was not revelry that was the Greek national anthem you heard coming from the military base.
Thought you were in Dallas....
Why don’t you cross the lines over when tying off the back end?
That gets rid of all the moving

The Isle of Delos where SV Delos gets its name from
Shush. There are people who probably think it's the other way around lol.

Excellent walk on Delos. Thank you so much. Too bad King Mithridates trashed the place if my memory of Classical History is correct…
Military (Navy Bases and Navy Ships inport) raise their flags and play their national anthems at 8 am each day
