Wes is great, but Mike also wrote some killer riffs! "Head for the Barricade" has one of my favorite Limp Bizkit riffs, the descending octave power chord riff. It's probably the heaviest Limp Bizkit riff off any album (in my opinion).

Many of his lyrics are fine. His lyrical flow is pretty good too if not better. However, his obnoxious off stage attitude is what brought a lot attention to him in negative ways. You are right though, if it wasn't for Wes Borland ramping the talent up in that band. Limp Bizkit wouldn't have gotten very far. Wes knew how to write riffs to match Fred's energy and stage presence. The band just worked as a whole.
gredangeo I don't have anything against Fred, but the whole band was pretty good. Bass player was as talented as they come and the drummer was always snappy and tight. I guess Fred just made them stand out and that's what worked back in the day

I really feel like you missed some of the best riffs out. Hot dog, full Nelson, boiler. And even in my generation you left out the harmonic. Like those were the riffs that really defined how unique his playing is.
