I love the paternal care and tone of voice Simon uses with Yanis. Always kind, protective and caring - he is in the very best of hands. Yanis is respectful, hard-working and helpful - the perfect master and apprentice relationship based on trust and mutual respect. I can see them working together for a long and rewarding time.

Ryan, are you able to look up death certificates in France? You may be able to find the woman’s death certificate online based on location, her age and date of death. Then possibly the name of the woman and cause of death. Worth a try.
The name of the woman who died was Sonia Jeanine Rolande ROUSSEAU (October 10, 1973 - January 5, 2010). It's the only record of death in Ernée on that date. She was born in Laval, France.
Alex keeps us intrigued as to what is behind a door, around a corner, out a window pane but waiting to see him peek through a keyhole. Absolutely beautiful editing with music and slow enticing panning of the lens. Well done
Billy, It’s been a ton fun & very interesting to watch the Convent crew run around the convent doing random things. I really think you should consider allowing your crew to do a weekly “Convent Crew Takeover” where the guys get to choose any task or explore around the grounds.
Simon and Yannis, PLEASE wear masks when cutting the granite!!! The dust gets on the lungs and causes very bad I’ll health that can’t be reversed. We all ❤❤❤you so please be mindful of your health ❤from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺
Agreed but many older craftsman and contractors from France, Italy etc would smile or laugh at this while drinking their wine and taking their smoke breaks (not on camera for western viewers prob).😉
Yannis is getting more comfortable with being filmed. So impresssed with how far he has come from being a novice to quite experienced. Experiences to last a lifetime and from an excellent teacher with Simon.
Nice work in the shower Clive. Simon, Billy will be able to rest while he is away, you are doing such meticulous work with Yanis. Lucky people, having a bakery so close.
Simon, you are a true craftsman, and Yannis you are quickly becoming one. Ryan you are the friend everybody needs, Clive you are remarkable. Billy, Gwen and boys enjoy your much needed holiday! Everyone is honoring your convent as their own!
Yes that is just what I was going to suggest. Looking for the local obituaries in the weeks and months afterwards may yield more information, or at least a name. Although oftentimes the family may omit the cause of death in cases of illness or accident, or forego an obituary altogether, especially if she was not from the area originally. Perhaps you could check with the coroner's office to see if you can find the autopsy records Ryan.
@jasmorgan94 That's certainly true, but since the channels have brought it everyone's attention, some are already trying to solve the mystery. There's no turning back now
Billy, I know you are watching! Aren't these guys top notch?! Each one is making you proud. It was nice to hear more from Clive! He's a great addition to the crew. As everyone has said, your convent is in very capable hands as is your vlog. Loving this from Phoenix 🏜️❤ Enjoy your vacation!
So many talents left at the helm! Simon is by far one of the best teachers and mentors I have ever witnessed. Yannis is such a hard worker and clearly a quick study and is a talent as well! Alex is of course a master class of film making... and those tiles in the bathroom are really beautiful. Then we have our comic relief Ryan who always makes us laugh and then he turns around and starts speaking beautiful French and who cares that he's taking about bathroom supplies, he could be speaking about indigestion and it would sound like angels cooing. Ryan, stop making us feel some kind of way dear, we know you're taken... ☺
So glad you are continuing while Billy & family are on vacation. I would miss the videos. I love watching Simon and his calm demeanor, Yanis and his just keeping his head down and doing his work. Always interesting. Thank you Alex for your excellent work.
Simon you are SO gentle, kind and thoughtful … how is it you are not married ? Yannis you are learning so fast and doing well. Ryan, you are such a good friend and loved. Crack On!
Billy is very blessed. Beautiful family & extended family. & INCREDIBLE TEAM! Ryan, what a GIFT you are -- 100% bilingual & bicultural!! And such a group of skilled, multi-talented & experienced professionals. I have never heard of a talented tile expert, who is also a plumber!?!?! And Simon!!! Yanis is able to skillfully do tasks, thanks to his drive & ability to learn, & a great teacher in Simon. Ryan, I am excited to learn more about the convent's history. So sad about the suspicious death. Does France have anything like the US, where many "court"/legal records can be requested? Billy would seem to have a right to know anything that isn't confidential, still an unsolved case, as the property owner? Many blessings, Alex. Your videovgraphy makes me want to watch episodes twice. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL! Been watching since very early days.
It's too bad Simon doesn't feel he has enough time to have his own youtube channel, I would love to keep following him after he is finished up at the convent and his own projects. His expertise and calm manner are fantastic I could watch for hours.
Ryan. I’m very interested in learning more about the history of the convent. Thank you for doing that. So glad the bakery is there now! Need your baguettes! Bless you all!
These have to be actors. It is rare to gather so many excellent gentlemen together. Billy is the money (or his wife)and ultimate boss but with this crew he lucky. With just a look he can get people back on line…and then he smiles. Do the English know that their best restoration team is in France.
Simon, you shouldn't criticize yourself for the time you take doing a renovation right. How you guys make it to look as though it was always like that definitely deserves recognition. 👏 Imagine the first thing you see is a wonky looking entrance. I believe in the US, bottle traps under sinks are illegal. 🤔 They require S traps Good job everyone! ❤
Very interested in finding out more about the history of the convent! The stone work that Simon/Yannis are doing is just beautiful. That entryway is going to be stunning!
Great job on that granite stone, well done. Now I understand why the staircase to your new renovation apartment Ryan was blocked off, sadly the tradgedy of the young lady's death was a worry to the Nun's especially if they wanted to sell. Well done everyone 💕🇦🇺
Ryan is in his element and Simon is the best teacher and an expert at what he does. Yannis is more confident and seems happy. Clive certainly does beautiful tile work and also being a plumber is fantastic. Alex, you are so good making these videos. Billy you left the convent in great hands. Enjoy your vacation. xx
Watching Simon teach Yanis about plastering gave me the courage to go back and redo some plastering I had done many years ago, thank you. I am not planning to repoint my brickwork but i feel I could now with the knowledge imparted by Simon .
The convent is such a complex building built in many different styles, different building materials, and different building techniques throughout its long history. It takes real “artistry” to meld all of these things together to create an “authentic” whole which both brings the convent into the 21st Century while still paying homage to its storied past. Simon and crew seem just the artists to pull off this magic transformation !
Yes I would really like to learn more about the history of the convent Ryan… also now that you are in “charge”, and in the spirit of learning, maybe you could teach us some French by having French word of the day. Cheers!
Hi Ryan. One thing you might be able to do to find out more about the woman is to search for her obituary. In the states the news papers have an archive that one is able to search with your computer. It may take some time. You have the month and year and place of death. You would need to do a lot of reading and match up what you know. Just a thought.
You guys have done such super duper professional work getting the convent back to its original .... I really pity the person who decides one day to try and pull out your work to remodel... I'm also betting the convent won't need redoing for a mighty long long long time!
Ryan if you are looking up the history of the convent try the local library or local official records if you can get access to the local authorities records it could have more information about the history of the convent ,as the history books could have missing information on the history of the area . Most local authorities have sensitive information that isn't included in the history books .
Great idea. This path of inquiry might shed some additional information regarding the death of that woman. I do not live in France but I presume that the local police department archives may have some additional information. Also could an inquiry be made with the local coroner's office? The news article that Ryan read from indicated that an autopsy was going to be performed. The coroner's office might have some information.

Check death records the week she died. See if you can find her name. If she was from another area, there may be a story on her in that area. It’s a longshot, but if you find out her name it’ll make a difference.
I loved hearing Yannis sign off in English. Ryan you should film a Bantermime with Yannis in French and then translate his story for us. Great video today. Billy can rest easy on his vacation with you all in charge. I’m sure that the viewers will live any information that Ryan can dig up on the History of the Convent. Maybe check with the local coroner about the poor lady who died on the stairs. I’m sure they would have kept records.
Firstly, it was strange watching the Convent without Billy (he is in Ryan’s video). Ryan did a great job of presenting and helping out. Always love hearing him speak French. Alex - fantastic filming, editing and music selection. Simon - your usual high level of craftsmanship. Yanis - hope you got off the lift 😀. However, I agree with the many comments about wearing masks, and also do not leave tools on the lift control box. A name has been found for the lady who lost her life, and will be interested to know more. I love looking at older Street Views. It will definitely be interesting to find out more about the history of the Convent. A project for Ryan to break up the monotony of renovating the apartment. Nearly forgot Clive - he is ‘cracking on’ very well.
