    I was a high end welder for years. Had to certify several times on mig, tig and stick. Still do some side work. Have you thought about doing a video on how you repair civil war brass items?

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  Рік тому +1

      I do get many requests but lot's of the techniques are all concepts I had to figure out on my own. In short I try to reverse the exact forces that acted upon a piece to bend it, try to never heat or get the relic wet so I can preserve the original patina but I will end up doing some videos for sure at some point. As you know as a fellow musician, the Summer takes it's toll on a touring band. We have 85 shows on the books this year so I have to figure out my best use of time for this channel and balance that with having fun out detecting with buddies on adventures too. I was very fortunate to have had a great metal shop in both Jr High School and at my High school as well where I learned of an arc welder, we used cutting torches, brazed and even did cast brass and aluminum castings. All of those skills came to be very useful throughout my adult years. Too bad most schools no longer have these programs. We had auto shop, jewelry making classes, plastics shop, wood shop, metal shop, photography, mechanical drawing and even ROP classes for animal husbandry and butcher shop. Was awesome, I took them all!! Thank you for the view, comment and great idea!

    Mark.. dead of winter here in NY, but I picked up a X-Terra Pro for my wife to use and as a backup to my new Nokta Legend, I must say, I've watched your video multiple times, and it really has me pumped to get out there this spring. I've bookmarked your video for when I want a refresher on it, as well to have my wife watch a couple times. I really liked that you shown how to navigate thru the menu's, but also explained what the different settings do, and why you'd want to change them. Wish you had something similar for the Nokta Legend..:) I have to go look for your first field hunt with the XTP to see how it works out. Thanks..

      This is so true, so much value in this at this price point. Also how versatile and well-built it is. Mark, all of the manuals that I have ever read, said you are to wrap all the coils wires over the top of the shaft!! lol I have been detecting for 40 years, been using everything from Whites 6000 Di Pro SL to Equinox 700 detectors. It causes less stress on the wire over time. My first Minelab was the Explorer SE with iron mask.

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  8 місяців тому +1

      I can definitely see what you mean about that because things pulling the cable from the back of the rod would pull on the boot on the coil whereas things hitting the wire on the front of the rod would protect it from straining the boot. That's a good point. Thank you for your view and advice! Much appreciated

    Just now came across your channel while doing research on this same metal detector. After watching this video, I can say you just earned yourself another subscriber. I know I missed the giveaway but its ok. To actually find someone who not only goes into great detail about the machine, but also doesn't show favoritism is very rare these days on here. I've owned 2 other metal detectors. The first being one I got from my oldest brother years ago, had the name tracker as part of the name I can't really remember the name. Last year I bought an Omma off amazon couldn't afford anything else. At the same time, I bout a child's metal detector for my daughter we've had some great fun hunting with them even though she's not even 5 yet. It was priceless to see her face light up with her first find even though it was a nail. I put this exact metal detector on my wish list so who knows maybe Santa will bring me one this year. Thanks again. keep up the great videos. May all your Christmas wishes come true.

      Yes and I wouldn't of bought the Simplex + If I knew that the X-Terra Pro was coming up but now The Simplex is collecting Dust and after I got the X-Terra Pro, I tried and turned on the Simplex + again and I didn't realize that it's ALOT of Swaky Tones and really Was hurting my Ears and I have Even went and unsubscribed from the people that are also using the Simplex and Or anything Notka Macro Brand Product's cause it's a JUNK Tone's Detector and I have more Junk Target than good target's and I can see that with the X-Terra Pro and it's going great when I get to a Solid Number and Tone it's time to Dig and I can walk over the jumpy VDI and know that it's a JUNK Target and I have dug up some of the jumpy VDI Targets and was infact a junk signal target but when it's a Coin Tone 🤑💰🤑 ......... it's time to Dig and I have Even lowered the sensitivity down to 12 and still getting Targets that are 4-6 inches deep. But the X-Terra Pro is a definitely telling me when I get to a Junk Target Not too Dig and like the Simplex + and the Garrett's and the Teknetics Detectors that I own The Minelab X-TERRA Pro is the only one that will get the money 💲💲💲 and seriously easy to operate and enjoy.....

    Thank you! I'm very new to this, and had no clue what to do my first time out. I literally dug out the whole side of a bench on the beach, looking for what was beeping so loud! Come to find out it was the little metal manufacturers tag screwed into the leg of the bench up under the seat of the bench on my first try out there! 🤣🤣🤦‍♀️ (This was also prior to seeing your video.) I did read the manual, but it read like stereo instructions to me. So I really was just winging it. I did find a penny that day tho besides the bench.. lol. Your tutorial is beyond helpful, down to the smallest detail and it just all makes sense now! I didn't know what sounds, numbers, the little blinking bar was or how to work anything on this machine until I saw your tutorial. Thank you very much for your explanation on everything! I can't wait to go out tomorrow and try again! Happy hunting! 😁
