    She reached for the board. Heel strike in front of her hips, causing body to launch upwards rather than forwards.

    The only criticism I receive when jumping is that I don't approach fast enough. Torey's comment below seems to indicate that all I need to do is speed up and the rest will follow... more or less what people are telling me.. I think it's amazing that she's doing this with scoliosis and a bulging disc.

      Teresa Griffith Don't listen to Torey. Triple jump approach should be controlled which is why it is shorter than the long jump approach. Listen to what Coach Jones says. He is the Associate Head Coach at Columbia and teaches the jumps curriculum for a very high level jumps certification program.

    The only difference between the two jumps is the speed of the approach. The technique or mechanics of the jumps are the same.

      I wish there were videos like this when I was in high school (2002 - 2006). UA-cam had just started and I really didn't know about it. I did a lot of those bad postures and take-offs that the example jumper did too. My senior year, I only jumped in the 40 feet range. Not no 41'. other than this covid19 stuff, you guys are doing the right thing by watching videos like these if you're serious about track.

    I have scoliosis and jump is that going to cause any problems later on?

    • @tiagocampos3320
      @tiagocampos3320 9 років тому +1

      ***** I had a spine scoliosis too, 53 degrees, I was operated, and after 3 years stop, I started to run and jump again, now I have a PB of 12.62m.
      But remember... Each case is a case.

      Kai'lani Woodard I have mild scoliosis but do this and long jump. As long as you land (and do the steps in triple jump) properly, your back shouldn't be hurt in any way. It's just like running :)
