Stevie Winwood has had that voice since he was a teenager. He was the voice of the Spencer Davis Group -- "Gimme Some Lovin'"
Winwood can play rock, folk, jazz, R & B, anything. He even recorded with Jimi Hendrix.
Asia & BJ, you’ll love his “Higher Love”, “The Finer Things” and many more!!!!
He was in the bands The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith before going solo!
With a song like this, you usually remember where u were the first time u heard it. Just roll Steve!
fun fact: Steve Winwood played the keyboards on Christina Aguilera's - Makes me wanna pray. Definitely a song worth checking out.
There are 2 absolute classics you must hear..."Can't Find My Way Home" and "Dear Mr. Fantasy" (from his early days with Traffic). Also "Gimme Some Lovin'" & "I'm A Man".
Legendary songs, legendary talent.
💙☮💙☮💙☮💙☮💙
This song is about overcoming obstacles and working with what life gives you. Winwood emerged as a successful solo artist in the '80s after struggling with personal problems, including a divorce. Winwood wrote this song with the lyricist Will Jennings, who worked on most of Winwood's solo hits.
This was Winwood's biggest solo hit in the US, this spent four weeks at #1 and also topped the pop chart in his native Britain. The album of the same title also topped the US albums chart.

Just an absolutely monster groove. Felt like Winwood was channeling his inner Ray Charles. Can't listen to this without a smile on your face.
Steve Winwood had a fantastic band in the 70s called Traffic--- highly recommend giving them a listen.
His vocals , keyboard and guitar work are all incredible..
This was released in 1988, but no matter what or when Steve Winwood sings, everything he sings seems timeless to me! Thanks for this great reaction! 💙✌
Thanks for listening
This one has the tightest back beat.....that snare RULES the groove!
Steve Winwood is a rock legend. He started in the mid 60’s with The Spencer Davis Group- everyone knows Gimmie Some Lovin’ from that band. Then he formed Traffic which was a rock/jazz/ psychedelic band. Then he formed Blind Faith with Eric Clapton. Then back to Traffic. And in the 80’s as a solo artist he made hits like this. He’s great on organ piano AND guitar!
One of the greatest talents to ever grace the world of music.
Steve is loaded with soul
When you work in construction everybody has a fight song. It's the song that you go to when you're frustrated and you just need to get out some music at the top of your lungs. I belt out roll with it baby 200 times a day at work. Cuz you got to roll with it baby. Doesn't matter how frustrating your job is. You got to have a fight song and you got to have one that makes you feel good. This is a great one
Steve arrived on the scene at age 14 with the Spencer Davis group. The rest is history.
one of the great voices from the classic rock era
This is an 80's song. Steve Winwood is a talented fella. He's been around the music world at least since the 60's, He has a ton of great songs to enjoy, with Can't Find My Way Back Home and Arc of a Diver being 2 of my favorites.
I swear, every Steve Winwood song started with an irresistible groove that just wouldn't quit until the song finally faded. And his voice...like a raspy blues singer from a smokey corner bar that decided to kick it up a notch and groove with his buddies for a little bit after the crowd had left for the night. It doesn't even matter if you can dance, Steve Winwood will get you moving.
Lyrics, vocals, beat, artistry of all musicians - EVERYTHING about this song brings me up!
Musical royalty in the upper echelons of an exalted group
Steve Winwood has many generations underneath his belt. He shock us all back in his Spencer Davis Group and has been a great guitarist and keyboard player and at such a young age he was belting out this incredible soulful voice with some grit and yet then you hear the man do a song like can't find my way home and he is on another level. He is one of my go to people who can change your mood from blues to rock and roll or funk motown groove he has done it all.
Love seeing y'all enjoy this one. Those smiles sure do make the day brighter. 💜 Hope I can send more Winwood your way.
Ditto Stacy! 🥰🥰
Yes! More Winwood from all his incarnations! Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith and his solo music and don't forget his collaborations with other artists as well.
He played on the Howlin’ Wolf London Sessions. He is an amazing vocalist and can really hold down R&B, Soul and Blues on the keys.
What a magical reaction !!!! Steve Winwood was 15 years old !!! when he had a voice like that!!! Unbelievable. Have a look at The Spencer Davis Group!🥰😍🤩
This song knocked my socks off when it came out in 1988 because I grew up listening to R&B and soul music in the late 1960s and 1970s and hearing that soul sound twenty years later just blew me away. It still has that effect on me today at the age of 74. I,m not at all surprised you guys got right into it from the get go especially BJ-he's right this song makes you move.
(Class of 71) time to get up and show your moves..Asia..🎼..🎵🎵🎶
Steve Winwood is an amazing singer and musician. He played every instrument, and could write and sing and do everything. He was in a bunch of important groups of the 60s and 70s before going solo in the 80s.
Steve Winwood was in TRAFFIC, SPENSER DAVIS GROUP had big hits with them too!!!😎😎😎
When I want to lift up my mood and outlook, I have put this song and danced for years. If this song doesn't change your mood.....well I don't know what to tell you.
Asia I second what surleachapeau said below. Get on all of Steve Winwood's grooves!! SO many amazing ones that will give you that same vibe. Such an amazing musician and writer.
He's a world class vocalist who is also a multi-instrumentalist..guitar, organ, piano etc..
The video/song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" featuring Prince on guitar, Steve was the white man in the background playing piano. There were other superstars in the video including Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne singing lead with George Harrison's son playing guitar.
Enjoy watching your reaction to this song. I have always Steve and his music 🎶 on my play list for about 40 years ❤❤👵👵🎶
I always like this song and Steve Winwood
His "I'M A MAN" CLASSIC
I hope you two will watch the video Steve produced for this song. It is unbelievable good.
Gotta hear, "higher love" 🔥💞
Sleeping under a rock. That killed me! 😄
KIDS!! You MUST see the accompanying video to this! the Dancing is insane!
This song always had a throwback Motown feel to me. If you go back and listen to Sam and Dave's hit Shotgun. They have similar feels
This song is about overcoming obstacles and working with what life gives you. Winwood emerged as a successful solo artist in the '80s after struggling with personal problems, including a divorce.
Winwood wrote this song with the lyricist Will Jennings, who worked on most of Winwood's solo hits.
Winwood's biggest solo hit in the US, this spent four weeks at #1 and also topped the pop chart in his native Britain. The album of the same title also topped the US albums chart.
The Memphis Horns played on this song, giving it a brassy Motown feel. Motown Records thought the song was too similar to the 1966 track "(I'm A) Road Runner" by Jr. Walker & the All Stars, released on Motown's subsidiary Soul Records. After legal action, the writers of "(I'm A) Road Runner" - Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland and Eddie Holland - were added to the credits of "Roll With It."
Winwood was 40 years old when this went to #1 in America in July 1988. The older crowd was well represented in pop music at this time - Chicago, George Harrison and The Beach Boys all had chart-toppers as well. It was a time when older-skewing songs like "Roll With It" could share space on pop playlists with the likes of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Poison.
This song holds the distinction of being the last #1 song of Casey Kasem's 18-year run as original host of the American Top 40 radio show (he would rejoin the show 10 years later) - and the first #1 song for the show under Kasem's successor, Shadoe Stevens.

Steve Winwood is English and very soulful. He had his first hit in 1968 with “I’m a man”.
Always great, the legendary Stevie Winwood !!!
When this came out, I drove my husband crazy cause I played it All the way from Wisconsin back to Tennessee!! '87
Just listened to Steve Winwood-Valerie today.✌🏻❤️
Let's get down!!! Music sounds so good.
You can't go wrong with Mr. Winwood. Back in the high life is an excellent album, so is Arc of the Diver.
While you see a chance is another great song.
Cheers from Idaho
"Indecision" was my Jam on that particular album. Oops C.D. 😅😅😅
I’m dyin! 😂😂 BJ says “This a generational song” 😂 I love it! Y’all are cracking me up on this one!!
Stevie Winwood!!! Yes!! The Finer Things is one not to miss!!!
Fun one here, good to drive to! 🤣 "You got to be sleeping under a rock" .... Asia: "I've never heard this before"! You guys are the best 🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏
Thanks! 😃
Haven't heard this song in years, I'd forgotten how good it is😎😎
He's been famous since a teenager in the 60s. He's English and Ray Charles was his hero. He was in his 1st pro rock band at 14/15 yrs old. He became very famous in England, American Blues musicians would use him as organ/vocal background as a teen..Jimi Hendrix sought him out to play on Voodoo Child..he wanted to be in a band with Steve. He's got many, many hits. Another great one from this late 80s era is Higher Love w/Chaka Khan. Also 'Valerie'. Early songs.."Gimme Some Lovin', 'Can't Find My Way Home' & 'Dear Mr Fantasy"
Listen to Steve when he was a young teen singing with the Spencer Davis Group...'Gimme Some Lovin'. I believe he was 16.
Steve Winwood is one of my favs!!! Brilliant musician!! I agree with you if you don't liek this song there is somthing wrong with you!!!! :)
Long time since i heard this classic. Wow, it still sounds fresh and SO good. What a voice. If you want to hear more quality songs like this, please go find The Q Tips, lead singer Paul Young. Maybe start with "A Man cant lose what he dont have", then ,"Some Kind Of Wonderful" etc
He was in a band called Traffic , you need to listen to a song called Dear Mr. Fantasy , you will not regret it , his voice is incredible
When he was young, he was in the Spencer Davis Group, check out Give Some Loving, you'll know it. His solo stuff, "While You See A Chance, Take It", and Valerie.
Somewhere I read that this song was Winwood's tribute to Junior Walker and the All-Stars.
Check the Bass line, sick as fk 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Winwood's duet with Etta James "Give It Up" is worth a listen
Absolutely ONE OF THE BEST!!!!!
Great song from circa 1988. Steve is a great musician, this was overplayed on the radio haha. At one point, CVS had this on their playlist. "Valerie" is my favorite from him. "The Finer Things" is another great one.
Loved dancing to this one in the bars in the 80s. Love your "chair dancing." Just can't help it, right?
Great Great reaction guys 👍🎉
Thank you so much 😁
From this album, "Shining song" and "Don't you know what the night can do" are the other belters.
Roll with it baby!
The most played song of 1989-the year I graduated from college!
The best part of all these vids is Asia's smile and her "smiley eyes" !
The first time I heard Steve was when he was with The Soencer Davis Group. You would love "Gimme some lovin".
Throwback R&B baby....awesome song.
Slammin' for sure!!! Keep riding the Steve Winwood train.
From what I see and hear the 60-70's was an explosion in goooood music 🎶 which I was there even if today would make me old but I at least I would had LIVED it.
Thank you ❤️ I'm happy even with all the mistakes somebody understud.
The francophone
I'm glad you're understand.
The francophone
I'm 60, I did live it as it happened such great times and memories it was a fantastic way to grow up with such varied wonderful music 🎵🎵!!
@@sharilynbratton6476 I'm jalouse not in a new way and thank you ❤️ for sharing.
It is in a GOOD way sorry for the mistakes in writing The francophone@@sharilynbratton6476
The Finer Things, Valerie. While You see A Chance and Back In The High Life will must listens by Steve Winwood.
80s kick ass song
Go down this rabbit hole ..won’t be disappointed
Had to come back and watch again with y’all! WANT YOU TO REACT TO THE VIDEO, GUYS! ❤❤
Yo one of the favorites for the party tape. Play this at my funeral! This and Dancing on the Ceiling.
You can hear the influence of the music of Junior Walker (from the 1960's) on this song.
"Roll With It" another Number 1 hit that Tessa Niles provided her amazing backing vocals .
'Higher Love" is a playlist must!!!
Always loved the organ tones & that killer driving bass in this song.
If you get a chance, check out the official video to "Roll With It". Yes!!
Great song! Seeing him from
His Spencer Davis group
Days (if you haven’t reacted to those, do check those out) to his more 80s pop like Valerie and then this 90s (?) soulful gem. Great singer and pianist/keyboardist, and a Brit, to boot
Yes, this was an 80’s song. One of my favorites 😊
This is an old favorite of mine a song that never let go with you once you heard it a first time!!
I wish you had watched the video for this one. I could see BJ rolling his hips to the rhythm and Asia rolling her eyes at him. But you both would enjoy watching the patrons at the club in this song showing their moves as they groove to this fantastic song. Part of the charm lies in that Paula Abdul choreographed this video. The closeups of the people enjoying and drink and a swivel step on a hot afternoon is enough to make you want to join them. Great choice!
Maybe next, you could watch OPPOSITES ATTRACT by Paula Abdul. Her cartoon friend will steal your ❤️ heart. Enjoy
You should also watch the video with all the people dancing in the club - lot of fun!
Glad both of u r digging this fantastic song so much. I loved it back then still do. Steve was in Blind Faith, Traffic and Spencer Davis group way way back
I read he was such a good singer
some bar or club owner hired him underage. He's a great singer, fantastic voice
This whole album is fire guys. When Steve dropped this in the 80’s everyone took notice. Grammy winner. 🤘😎
steve winwood got his start when he was 16 years old bob dylan was in the studio to record like a rolling stone they were waiting for the keyboard player steve snuck in the others wanted to throw him out but dylan said let him stay lets see what hes got the rest is history
Gotta love roll with it, I groove to this song alot, thank u all for playing it ✌️
BJ: "If you don't know this song, you're living under a rock!"
Asia: "I don't know this song."
BJ doesn't JUST hang his head, he nearly starts to beat it on the table top in front of him.
Oh, this was a good reaction you guys!
Gotta check out that official Music Video to get the whole vibe! You're really missing another dimension of it - A real party favorite.
Choreography by Paula Abdul. Fantastic dancing.
It's literally impossible to not like this song, no matter who you are.
This British born artist started playing with "The Spencer Davis Group" back in 1965 or 66, at 17 years old. His soulful vocals had people thinking he was a Black artist, until they saw him perform live. He is one of the greatest artists in Rock/R&B and Blues history. He plays at least 20 different instruments, but it's that soulful voice that makes him great. He must be in his mid 70s these days, and he's still performing. If you can, you must react to "Can't find My Way Back Home."
Hey, bass man, u did it man, no one could have done better, you led the charge!
Steve Winwood is more than a talented Musician he is a force of nature. Right from the get go in 1964 he has been around. A great Keyboards player, Guitarist, Singer/Songwriter with a unique voice. Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, also Solo and has played with Clapton, Howling Wolf and many big names!
Steve Winwood is my favorite. You too would like Empty Pages & Freedom Rider from his last album with Traffic. Funky, Jazzy. Also, Higher Love feat. Chaka Kahn from his solo career
Guys, you should do some Traffic with Steve Winwood. One of the greatest bands ever.
Yess, this will get you up on your feet, there are some songs, you just got to move, like Express Yourself, by Madona, you just can't sit still,..and yes this could be categorized as rock, but there's a WHOLE lot of blues, and that organ, is he on that organ or what!? , sorry didn't know ya'll had reacted to this yet, so glad you did, do keep going, love it!, Godspeed, Peace ✌
The Horn Section is comprised of "The Memphis Horns", who played with everyone from Otis Redding to Alicia Keys. Many of the Artists you've reacted to have used The Memphis Horns in their music.
This was Winwood's most successful Solo album; another good track is " Holding On".
BITD when I used to race mountain bikes, I had a cassette mix tape that I would play before the Race, and this was the first track on the tape.
It has to be said this is a banger of a tune
