I personally find this a little lazy. Just give us Sareena, Jade, or even Sonya. We have plenty of female characters, and it feels weird to gender swap these two but also no gender swaps from female to male. Are they suggesting Sektor and Cyrax are just that unimportant?
It is extremely lazy. This game has already been disappointing compared to mk11. At this point, I only log on to play when new invasion seasons come out. Then I don't touch it again until next season. In contrast, I played MK11 for years before I got bored with it.

Imagine if they gender swapped jade and katana, this is the equivalent.
Kitana could not be changed because she has a connection with Mileena and Liu Kang, it would end up affecting the entire story of MK1, and Jade is linked to Kitana. But Sektor and Cyrax don't have such a strong bond with Sub-Zero.

Interloko couldn't confirm that the files are indeed Cyrax and Sektor... we can only hope there's some kind of mix up with the files wherein he mentioned finding the audio. If indeed true, I was okay with it at first... I'm willing to wait and see how they turn out. But after witnessing the backlash from the fanbase, I can't say I blame them. Some are trying to turn the backlash into issues like transphobia, etc... but that's not what this is about at all. Like you mentioned Dynasty, this is about the legacy of MK... and it's being spat on by NRS in this case. Of course those of us that grew up with MK aren't going to appreciate this move whatsoever. It is what it is... they robbed us of them in MK11 and we played ourselves in believing NRS would redeem themselves in MK1.

Edit: So I also Checked on MK1 Sub-Zero’s Ending to make sure if I heard Sektor was a Her but no, the Dialogue in that Ending never produced if Sektor was a He or She, it means this was there from the Start, it also means Sektor is Bi-Han’s New Initiative from the Shao Dialogues.
The scarier thing is that the voices don’t sound robotic…

Now as a woman, I am dying to see some more ladies in the game, and this is one way to do it, a lazy as fuck way, but it is a way. Now that said, I'm not TOTALLY down on it, because it's a whole new world, look at the brothers thing with Bi-han and Hanzo, or the total rework of Quan, so this makes sense. BUT do I wish we got a brand new lady cyber ninja yes, 100% absolutely yes, but this does work, it's just a lazy way of filling the "girl quota" also I will say, it's not like the OG versions aren't there, they are in the game as cameos, so it's not like they aren't around, so there is that too. So it's not great, but it's not bad either. I just want to see what they're like now, that's what is the big deal really is.

ALL Physicality is Different. Attacks, Blocks, Jumps, Gaits, Walks, Dashes, etc...These NON VERBAL Animations ARE and Have Been the Characters for 29 Years. It's a Fighting Game you are Moving A LOT.
The Characters Over 29 years WILL be Different. Those Non Verbals Matter more than you think. You will Feel it and so will the True Fans.

I just dont understand. What was the purpose of this.... There was nothing wrong with Male Cyrax and Male sektor. I swear NRS/ WB decisions are so questionable. On what planet did fans wanted these two genderswapped. That's like if they randomly turned mileena ans kitana males for no reason... Or sub and scorps into females. When we fans said we wanted more females. We didnt mean change the gender or past characters. I would have rather they put dvorah, cetrion, cassie, jaqui as dlc( my least favs in the series) in the game than gender swapping Cyrax and Sektor... I just don't understand the decision of WB/NRS. You know what pisses me off? All this woke nonsense nowadays. Gender swapping already established characters is probably the worse thing you can do for this game let alone the franchise. This is really disturbing about the lack of creativity in gaming nowadays. There are multiple female characters in this franchise history already since day 1.
We have a society that has never grew up seeing badass female characters without pushing an agenda or pandering. How about bring in Xena as a female guest character? Way better choice than conan the barbarian like are you fucking serious?! I already dont like homelander. Omniman even though he was a weird choice, works great in this game and fits perfectly. The next guest character should have been albert wesker that would have drove people wild as an unexpected wild card.
We are in a new timeline so get creative. Make a ninja clan of only females with a female grandmaster and her rival is Frost because Frost defiles the codes and principles of what it means to be a ninja.

Is this really their way of adding new females when there’s so much more females they can add. They could have added Jade, Tanya, Sonya, Frost, Kira, Skarlet, Sareena, Sheeva, Khameleon, and probably more that I missed.
It didn't bother me when they did it with Johnny Cage . It's that wacky side of MK that I love. I don't get why Sektor would be gender swapped. It's so inconsequential a decision you wonder what was on their minds besides pandering when they passed the idea around.
