      Ingram and Jones didn't work out?? Ingram had like ten thousand yards from scrimmage in NFL Jones had like 10,000 receiving yards and injuries ruined him...

    The previous year, Alabama, en route to a national championship, their road had to go through Jordan-Hare Stadium and had to come from behind and survive to win on the road. This year, it was the other way around, Auburn en route to a national championship, their road had to go through Bryant-Denny Stadium and had to come from behind and survive to win on the road.
    Both teams nearly almost the other's national title hopes in back to back seasons. This has always been very interesting to me. Also worth mentioning is that neither Iron Bowl were played on a Saturday. Both 2009 and 2010 were played on (Black) Friday due to a contract.

Like there will never be another Michael Jackson in the music world, there will never be another college or pro QB like Cam Newton. The skill level is simply too naturally great for duplication. Vince Young never received every collegiate award available in 1 year of NCAA/D1 football--nor did he enter the league breaking and setting records becoming Rookie of the Year and later MVP--a Black MVP--of the entire league. I commend all Black QB's who came before Cam, but Cam is better than all of them all--Black or White--and has the credentials to prove it. Do the research. The other Black QB's were run out by the league. Cam Newton remained/remains Cam Newton. Also, Cam is the Finest (looks) of them all.

      The game changed when the Goggins and his counterpoint returned in the second half. Georgia's plan to sabotage (by fighting and causing key AU defensive players to be disqualified) AU in the Iron Bowl failed the same way Georgia had failed to beat Cam & Company in the previous game. What a college football season 2010-11 was! Thank you, Cam Newton & Company.

    • @christopherpotter190
      @christopherpotter190 5 років тому

      Disagree, Mr. Kelly! It's simply a gridiron myth -- and very unfair to Ingram, who was falling and wasn't going to score anyway -- that "the whole game changed from the moment Ingram had another sure TD (WRONG!) and he lost control of the ball......." Did you watch what happened next? After once again stopping Auburn cold. 'bama took the ball, completed a long pass down to the Tigers' 3 yard line for a first-and-goal -- and what happens? Richardson drops a sure TD pass so easily lobbed that you or I could have caught it. THAT was the turning-point play! The Tide is forced to settle for a field goal, and THEN Newton commenced turning things Auburn's way.
      Yet everyone remembers the Ingram fumble -- which was in truth a great defensive play. While Richardson -- who cost Alabama a 28-0 lead and probably the game -- gets off blameless. Though it may be true that "you couldn't write a Disney Mighty Ducks script better," the truth is that simply ain't the way it happened.

      @@sterlingpless9280 I personally did not want Gus fired. Sadly a lot of our fan base is delusional about what Auburn is as a program. Auburn, historically, is a top 15 program. Not a top 5. And thats ok! There are tons of schools out there that would kill to be in the top 15. Sadly though, our fans look enviously across the state and think that the lightning Nick caught in a bottle to revitalize that program is something anyone can do. It isn't. Gus was consistent, Auburn fans could always count on Auburn being competitive in recruiting, not have to worry about off the field stuff, and a top 15 or top 10 rankings in the polls, and possibly a SECCG or Natty run every 3-4 years under Gus. And for me personally, there was nothing wrong with that. However all things must end, I think Gus and Auburn were just bored with each other, and a parting of ways was what was best. Bring new energy and life to the program, I just never understood why we fired him after 2020. I would argue that is Gus was still HC in 2020, that that Auburn team would have made a playoff run, but who really knows.

    The SEC will not be the same without Verne and Gary together! So compatible and fun! As for this game, I will always believe that a major AU strategy was to conserve as much energy as possible until the Tackles Blanc and Goggan could return in the second half. Look at the difference their return made in that second half--not to mention that they were fresh and rested after sitting out the first half. I love re-watching this game, mainly because I love Cam Newton to all Extremes. Also, I love comebacks , winning against all odds. Against all odds and obstacles, Cam won it ALL for AU in 2010. Greatness!

    Alabama fan for 30 years and this is still the most disappointing loss I've experienced as a fan because Auburn had no answer for Alabama offensively or defensively in the first half but I knew Alabama was in trouble at halftime because they were only up 24-7 and they should've been up 35-7 at the very least. But those 2 fumbles absolutely killed us and our offense completely disappeared after halftime.

  • @scarlettohara8593
    @scarlettohara8593 8 років тому +5

    People tend to overlook the fact that in the first half the tackles Blanc and Goggan were suspended from playing. They returned in the second half. It was probably an AU coaching strategy to hold Alabama at bay anyway possible in the first half and go hard when the tackles returned.I say this because AU never seemed panicked in that first half. McElroy though folded in the second half when the real pressure came. Also, Alabama was psychologically "surprised" by the "Camback" and panicked. Newton was/is a calm QB, anyway, who always believes the W is possible. This was indeed an Iron Bowl "for the ages."

They basically go on a dominant tear for the next two seasons outside of LSU who was LOADED and Texas A&M who had that years Heisman. From November 2010 to January 2013 it took two dynamic Heismans and LSU to slow down the Bama machine, what a run.

      +Mary Dodson Alabama should have been up 35 to 0 before Auburn scored and the comeback would not have happened. 2 fluke plays, Ingram stumbling along and getting the ball knocked forward thru the back of the end zone for a touch back and Trent Richardson dropping a sure TD. Odd things happen but it counts. It is a good thing for Auburn because if they didn't win this game, they don't have an NC in the past 50 years, that would be hard with BAMA winning 4 of 7.

      When Auburn took the lead early in the 4th, they stopped trying to move the ball. They were just running out the clock. That wouldn't have happened if they were still trailing. With about 8 minutes to go, Auburn could have scored more if they wanted to. Bama would have lost either way. WDE

    • @graciel2313
      @graciel2313 8 років тому

      That makes sense, you get a 1 point lead and you sit on it? Your coach wasn't Gene Stallings and your defense wasn't that good to back up a 1 point lead. They were not sitting on the ball and Auburn DEFINITELY would have scored more if they could. The game would have been played differently if BAMA had been up a larger amount, it's all conjecture at this point but I was at the game and when BAMA missed those scoring opportunities it made me nervous. Auburn was shell shocked and if they had been down 5 TDs they would not have made the comeback because their confidence would have definitely dropped. To score with 5 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter was big and made it 24 to 7 which reignited their confidence. If it had been 35 to 7 or 38 to 7 or 42 to 7 it would not have happened. It was 24 to 7 and it did. With a larger lead Saban would have brought more pressure and got to Cam more, his rushing was ineffective this game and I believe he would have been sacked even more.

    • @johnlesley2746
      @johnlesley2746 8 років тому

      Gracie L Nope. They were sitting on the ball. When Auburn got the ball back after taking the lead, they ran 6 straight running plays against a team they couldn't run on the whole game. Who does that? A team trying to run out the clock. Alabama only had 1 timeout. The only way Auburn could move the ball was by passing and Cam didn't even attempt a single pass after they took the lead. If the score was 35-28, you can bet Cam would be passing a lot in that series.
      I don't know where you got 38-7 or 42-7 from, but if you think 35-0 would have broken Auburn's confidence, you obviously didn't pay much attention to them that year. Coming back from behind was a regular thing with them.

    • @graciel2313
      @graciel2313 8 років тому +1

      They never came back when they were down 35 to 0 and they would not have that day either. I paid attention enough to know that fact.

    This was the weirdest day in Alabama football history. I did not have a good feeling going into this game. We (Bama) did not have a good team in 2010. Auburn did have some close games they could have lost, but they still found ways to win. Even at 24-0, I still felt like Auburn would find a way to pull off the win. I thought that if we utilized the same defensive game plan we did the previous year against Florida in the SEC Title game, we might have pulled off the upset. But, Newton was just too good that day. It's hard to shut down an athlete like that for four solid quarters. We would have needed to get Auburn down something like 38-0 in order to have won that day. 24 points was no problem for them.

      How can you say this Bama team wasn't very good? The majority of players coming back from a championship year, c'mon man. But somehow they dropped 3 games. Auburn needed every break imaginable to stay in this one. If Ingram holds onto the ball it's game over.

      Can't argue with that. Complicity, maybe? Imagine if they'd went all the way again. Possibly 4 NC's in a row for Bama. A record that could, in all likelihood, never be met or exceeded by any team.

    It seems that everything that happens to Cam Newton in football does so in spectacular fashion. As Donelson (announcer) said, this Iron Bowl win is "one for the ages"; in other words, Legend. The return of Goggan and Blanc (DL)) in the second half made a tremendous difference in this game.

  • @angelwood8070
    @angelwood8070 7 років тому +2

    Bama/McElroy looked good in the first half because 2 of AU's defensive linemen were suspended from playing in the first half due to a Georgia-initiated fight during the prior game. Goggans (49) and Blanc (#93) returned in the second half and Newton/AU unleashed their full football arsenal, shocking McElroy/Bama. I feel certain this entire thing was an AU coaching strategy--and it worked!

    I remember watching this game when I was five years old as an Auburn fan I’m now 16 and I still look back at this exact moment and I remember saying oh my God we’re probably fixing to lose this game whenever they showed a clip of the Alabama fans at 2:07. I thought in that type of environment the boys couldn’t handle it and I thought the dream season was over.

    As a Bama fan, people often ask, was the kick 6 or the Camback worse. I'd say they're about the same. We might not have had much to lose in 2010, but the fact that we had a big lead (24-7) and ended up losing by 1 point makes it to me, just as painful as the kick 6.

    I don't think any Bama fan will ever get over this one. Alabama had one chance to put a hurting on Cam Newton and AU's national championship opportunity. They blew it. Worse than Punt, Bama, Punt. Though nothing could ever make a Bama fan forget that one, they did follow with 9 straight wins against Auburn. If 2012 is any indicator, Auburn has fallen and does not look like they will be getting up any time soon.
