    Guess who I seen at the river this pass weekend? Vinny I was so excited to see him that I forgot to tell him my name! 😂 We are headed back down for the Youth Fishing Only on Wednesday. Take the little one out and get some kings! Thanks again for your reports

      That youth fishery is pretty cool to do with the kiddos. Very cool you ran into that Legend Vinny down there giving it a go! He says what’s up… again!

    I think your doing the right thing, eggs, Vibrax, or a Wiggle Wart from shore can catch Kings most of the time. Maybe hit Ninilchick or Anchor river as well.

    Whatsup Ryan? Looking for scoup on current fishing in/around Soldotna. Dished Russian and upper Kenai last 2 weeks and its SLOW! Noticed counts are $hit too ... Now in Soldotna... Going to give her a whirl but not expecting much. Kasilif seems good count wise so may try that

      The kasilof is full of sockeye and still quite a few hatchery kings getting caught at the campground!

    I would fish from shore like our doing. Something about walking the river from your place looks pretty nice to do. But to answer your question Drifting down I believe would be best. Gotta have a young man rowing you back up (LOL) We chose to head to Seward for reds. Wild and crazy the videos are on my channel if you want to see. We have a halibut trip down your way on the 31st. We might head your way and give it a try. We will see.

    I'm about to be at the Soho loop turnout selling bundles to the king and beach fishers. Hopefully get to wet a line. Hiking downstream from the campground is my only option

      Have you got a real job ? If not, I have a proposition for you. I need a partner right about where you are. I can find you with 3 driveways on k-beach. I sell down in the campground during dipping. I need a person I can totally trust to store a drifter and a splitter. You can guide with the boat if you want and help me sell bundles at 2 locations. Coho spot cover both sides of the river

    Glad to hear you’re ok. Was worried you got eaten by a bear. Did you get a chance to get the flies/jigs I sent you wet?

      I took them out and tried a few yesterday at a new spot on the lower kasilof. I’m finding that the jig head style wants dig into the river bottom and grasses. I was catching a lot of weeds and muck and it was difficult to keep the hook clean compared to a regular octopus style j hook. I’ll continue to try them at different locations and see what kind of results I get! Thanks again!

    • @Steve-rr3gc
      @Steve-rr3gc Місяць тому

      thanks for trying them. Maybe the 1/16 is too heavy for that current. I have smaller ones I’ll tie. Thanks for the info. I know the guys in Washington who were using the 1/16 jig heads were jigging the hard-but that was for coho-which is too early for you at the moment.

    I fished on a guide boat on the Kasilof twice. Caught a 31 pound King and then one September caught a bunch of Silvers. Good times!

      I’d love to see a salmon over 30! They seem to be few and far between. I fish the homer, Juneau and Seward derbies and haven’t seen anything over 30 in a few years now.. good times for sure when you get a tug from a beast like that!

    • @alaskasmallcraftadventures
      @alaskasmallcraftadventures  2 місяці тому +1

      For sure, there’s no salmon fishing from the beach but for halibut look at Deep Creek, whiskey gulch and anchor point. They all have drivable public access with whiskey gulch being my fav. Shore casting herring on the high tide and waiting for the current to start moving again should bring you success.

      Ryan’s report are both informative and entertaining. I rewatch videos over and over to help me figure out how to fish for salmon. They saved me a lot time trying to figure out technique and set ups. They also get me my Alaska fix till I arrive. The count down has begun 58 days.
      Btw. The little man is getting big. Pretty soon it will be father and son channel.
