That's a cool kit. IMost of us could only ever dream about even seeing things like this person, let alone play it. The amount of stuff that goes through your hands is remarkable, something most of us will never ever even come.close to
When I started playing drums as a teenager in the mid-60's, I had every catalog of every drum company. I couldn't afford them, but I could dream. Now I can hear them, thanks to Steve! Great drums and a great drummer!
I love Rogers, I have had a couple, and they are by far my favorite kit ever, but I always found Slingerland to he the most musical of the vintage kits.
Speaking of Forks… I was there visiting in Nashville in early March and I went to your shop and was very impressed! Great experience and I would like to visit again! Great soloing and thank you 🙏!
Hi Steve! Pete Jones here and greetings from North Dakota. Sad I wasn't able to see you at the Chicago drum show this year. Hope you are well!! When you put up the Slingerland catalog, Jake Jerger was one of the artists. He was the first judge at my first solo and ensemble contest way back in the day! Fun to recall that. As always, love your playing and what a fun kit and those cymbals are such a refreshing offering. Hope to see you next year!
just picked up a 1974 or so Slingerland set in maple with 24 inch b drum . never played out or moved much , looks like . So happy as I had a double setup same drums back then
I have this same kit as listed in the 1979 catalog in cherrywood oil with the COB Sound King. They are just beautiful sounding drums. Slingerland made such fantastic drums back in the day.
Hey Steve, I have a Slingerland kit that looks the same your lacquer walnut . I am 70 now and have had my kit since i was about 13-14 ? I did a little research and found the kit is from 1935-1940 .It still has cow hide heads , and they are stamped Radio King on the heads .The hardware, i belive is Nickel. Just wondering if I were to sell, what is a going price for a kit 85 plus years old ? Still great shape .

Thanks! I do feel fortunate to have such wonderful instruments pass through our hands en route to their next home.

SLINGERLAND made some the best sounding bass drums, especially the 20”.
I had a 79 kit, maple/poplar. FAT sounding. My only reservation was, I hated the hardware.

Me too.
Gorgeous playing and those Royal Cymbals chime like the angels.
I own a kit similar to this one however mine is Satin and I also have Royal Cymbals by Paul Francis.
Keeping my ‘64 Slingerlands forever (got new in HS). This kit is so lyrical it begs you to compose. Also, superb new cymbal lineup!

Excellent everything..equipment and playing!
Slingerlands sound so round and singing and musical if tuned and played correctly.

Yeah the cymbals yummy sounding and I love Slingerland drums as well, all great sounding stuff here!
Lovely warm sounding kit. Love those soft hihats. Lovely playing too.
That kit sounds amazing. The cymbals sound pretty good also(especially the china).
Great playing and beautiful sounding kit.
Nice little Beethoven lick on the ride😄
Thanks! I wondered how many folks would catch that!!
They sound great Steve.
Fantastic. Thank you.
Great sounding kit👌 very tasty drumming🥁 LOVE the cymbals ❤️
Those cymbals sound magnificent!

Was eyeing this on CL as well. I should of pulled the trigger. Awesome kit.
That amazing Slingerland sound
Great playing. Great kit. With the first year of the Set-o-matic system being '68, it's gotta be at least later than that.
Beautiful sounding ., I have 64 kit 28 kick ,13,14,15,16,18,20
How do these cymbals compare to Paiste,Ziljian,Bosphorus, others? And cost compared to them?
20" Swish cymbal, Nice and handcrafted by Paul Francis!

Tell me of a drumset that's better looking than those, as they present beautifully.
I have the same set in 22", 16", 13". Are there reinforcement rings in the toms or bass drum on this kit?
Wow! Slingerland… that sounded so amazing. But, a kits only good as it’s drummer!
Suddenly we're playing Beethoven's 5th symphony on a ride cymbal
Sure, why not! Lots of fun!
I have this very set!!!! I do think the Ludwig snare sounds much better. Those cymbals are way too expensive. I'll stick with the K's.
I had a 5-piece like that
Should've kept it...
WHAAAT!?!?!? No suspension mounts on the tom!?!?!? Oh my gaud! Somebody call the The Tone police!
😂
cymbals are so dry and musical.
Hi Steve, you sound great! And to think you get paid to do this! Thanks for all you do for the drumming community! Keep swinging!
You are one cool guy man i love your presentation’s and your playing wow .❤
