10mm is a great caliber to have a compensator on. I’m still disappointed that Glock never offers a handgun with a factory threaded barrel, forcing you to buy another barrel.
They used to offer threaded barrel models but the models they make have metric threading that isn't common in the US and therefore were never good sellers in the US market.
I Just got my first 10mm Gun 2 weeks ago (The G20 Gen3) I bought it used for $450 but it was never fired After taking it to the range and finding out that it's mo more recoil than my plethra of .357mag revolvers (Love me a wheel gun) Yesterday I found an unfired used Ge29 and had to have it. I am in love with 10mm now moreso than .357 because I get to carry more than 6 rounds (.357) Would love to see some gel test about your new 10mm G20 !!!! I plan on getting the G40 and the B&T USW frame as I beleive that 10mm is a great round with very little recoil ! Regards, Rick (subbed)
I bought the xdm elite 10mm a couple of months ago. The new M.E.T.A. trigger, or whatever they call it is terrible. I wish I would have bought the glock. The xdm is accurate, and has functioned well, but I like my glocks better.
HPR is good though not as powerful as Underwood. The Federal 180gr Trophy Bonded is actually full power ammo and shoots really accurate. For cheap shooting (though really low power) grab S&B FMJ. Probably the cheapest FMJ around but shoots well for practice.
Just can’t get into Glocks. I’ve also been hearing that Glocks new G5 barrel isn’t as reliable with the redesigned feed ramp. 10mm perfected is the FN 510 imo. SIG would be up there too if the damn mags weren’t iffy. My M&P10mm has been 100% AFTER sending it in for warranty. I believe S&W fixed the early issues. The M&P grip texture is a bit too aggressive and destroys my hands with full power 10mm. The FN has been proving perfectly reliable and has Fans fantastic optics mounting system, great ergos, surprisingly good trigger compared to 509s and typical FN quality. Now if HK would just make a 10mm USP, HK45 style 10mm or VP10mm. Walther PDP 10mm built a bit heavier would be awesome too.
Oh for goodness sakes, these youtubers go on and on about 10mm recoil. Its such a load of nonsense. 10mm aint no thing. If you've never fired it before, dont worry about it. Its not nearly as heavy kicking as these guys like to pretend it is. They're really over exaggerating.
Hate the Gen 5. I bought one and quickly sold it for a Gen 3 20. No aftermarket support. No one makes a recoil spring for this pistol. No aftermarket barrels. (KKM G29 extended length barrel will work) But there is a .10 thousands difference in the lug. I prefer finger grooves. Mag well is useless and adds bulk. Brass ejection is extreme and irratic. The slide has a lot of meat taken out of it towards the front and the slide cutout is replaced with a plastic insert. The slide is significantly lighter than previous gens. I think Glock took a huge step backwards with this one.
Yeah, the Alaskan Ballistics Channel had initial problems with theirs but apparently it broke in and then was reliable. It's hard for me to trust nearly any firearm built since Covid because the QC of all manufacturers has a taken a dive. Austrian made Glocks are still probably the best even with the Covid lockdowns and affect on labor, but the Gen 4s and Gen 3s were made when QC was higher and they are 100% proven guns.
@John B it's hard for me to believe that there is something out there called an "unreliable glock", until I myself witness a few videos of exploding glocks and failure to feeds, Alec Baldwin (allegedly) blows away half his crew on his new movie set while never even touching the trigger, and Hickock 45 does a video where a pot smokes him.
My Gen 4 G20 is the only glock I ever owned that ever had malfunctions. Hornady hollow points would always misfeed for some reason. I have since upgraded to the Gen 5 and I was super happy and surprised. It feels like the Gen 5 has less recoil than the Gen 4. I am very surprised people have reported problems.
You don’t gain much with the G40 imo it’s actually pointless. The G40 is much heavier and longer/harder to draw quickly. I put a KKM barrel In my G20 stock length and the velocity difference is only 30-50 fps. The G40 wasn’t much better in terms of performance over the 20. With a red dot on the 20 accuracy was much better. I sold the G40.
I have a Gen 4 20 and a Gen 4 29. I will still pick up the 40 when I find one because they look very good. The little bit of added weight and the extra barrel length should help a bit on accuracy. Agreed, it's not a big difference, but I don't think anyone is going to carry the 40 as a daily protection piece. I could see it in a shoulder holster setup, but definitely it an apple dix carry weapon, lol.
@@hurricaneaquatics If you want velocity , buy a KKM Barrel. A stock length G 20 KKM barrel will produce the same velocity as the 6” Glock barrel with the added chamber support to boot. If you want accuracy, have your slide milled for $100 and ad a red dot. A dot is far more accurate than any length iron sight radius. You end up spending less than a whole other Gun entirely with much better upgrades. The added weight up front actually adds recoil IMO as there is more reciprocating slide mass. If you want less felt recoil KKM sells a threaded barrel with a 4 port compensator. I run both my 29 and 20 with a comp. Completely flat shooting.
XDM elite is hands down the better 10mm...fully supported chamber, no plastic guide rod and a better quality built pistol....Hollywood is responsible for Glocks popularity, not the actual firearm which is cheaply made with inferior parts and materials...besides the unsupported chamber and guide rod, the only reason Glocks r so reliable is theier very loose tolerances of the chamber...look how loose the cartridge is inside the chamber, thats why it feeds and extracts so well.....its the ak of pistols...loose tolerances wise....the ak is not prone to exploding in your hand when firing...
Good grief, so much genuflecting before the altar of Glock! Give me a break. 10mm fans (of which I am one) have asked Glock for an updated mod 20 for years. This "new" mod 20 comes out only after S&W, Sig and Springfield all brought out new 10mm models, and shooters love them. Finally Glock brings out a completely unsurprising pistol, just like every other Glock. A brick in the hand with a weird grip angle. No thanks.
Dude, have you done any research lately? Most of those other 10mm's are experiencing lots of problems now. Glock doesn't change much because it's actually really hard to make a gun as reliable as theirs for the money they charge, and any changes could result in the guns becoming less reliable. Reliability in a gun that is supposed to stop a charging bear is NUMBER ONE. Not some stupid add-ons or changes that make the gun less reliable but "easier to shoot."
HEY JIM, YOU DO KNOW THAT THE 45 ACP SUPER ROUND, IS SUPERIOR AND MORE DAMAGING THAN THE 10 MM DONT YOU? AND IT STILL SHOOTS A LOT EASIER THAN THE 10MM! ( WITH OFCOURSE THE ONE ONLY GLOCK )
