The AMS on the Wreckoning really took it to the next level in design. Great video. I put this stuff on my Yeti back in July and I can testify that it really is durable and works. I will leave one note. When I removed a couple stickers for replacement, you are right, no residue and no stripped paint....but in my experience, if you do put a sticker over a previously chipped area, it will rip a portion of the paint off depending on the paint type and size of the paint chip/area of damage if you're not careful. Learn from the fool, don't be the fool, and I'm the fool. Its not a criticism, just something to keep in mind. AMS has worked really well for me and I hope it does the same for you Daily MTB Rider!
Note, I only had to take one sticker off becomes I screwed up putting it on and it pulled quite a bit of paint, operator error mixed with the flaky matte black yeti paint (its very delicate lol), If you have to pull it off, just note where the chip might be and work your way around by pulling in a circle and it will be all right! If its installed real tight, you won't have to worry about it for a LONG time.
Great to see a review on this. I’ve been considering something to protect where my heels rub (I’m always wiping off black scuff marks) and my cables run, but wanted to make sure I don’t damage the frame or paint. You answered that question too. Appears to come off without leaving a mark.
That big piece was supposed to be for the down tube as the tire kicks up dirt/debris. I don't see a point putting protector on the top tube. Keep it up, looking forward to this channel. Might pick some up form my SC Nomad.
My top tube is tore up from my shoes rubbing it when slinging myself over it, I guess. I don't ever remember hitting my top tube but there it is, ruined...
I have been using it for a while now. the only thing to keep in mind is that if you clamp the frame where the AMS protector is it will eventually stretch the protector.
I've got the clear guard from AMS on my bike, and it's worked really well, too. I'm very happy with their product, and I'll likely buy some in the Digital Camo, Ape, or Wolf design.
The cool thing about frame guards is that they are everywhere besides the places in which your bike get get hit by stuff. I would buy guard if there were some fory fork and dropouts.
It did indeed peel paint for me on my 2021 stumpjumper pro…. I did contact both companies to see if there were any other reason why this could or if it possibly a manufacturer defect…
I think its way too late to do on my current rig but probrably will do on my new one, love ur videos 👍 Edit: Changed my mind they look so dope that maybe I'm gonna buy some 😀😂
I used Zefal Carbon Skin Armor tape, it peeled the paint of my fuel ex, I was careful, I don't know if it was painted fault or the tape's fault, for sure but I think it was the fault of the tape, as all mountain style did not do it and it was onyl in one spot. it also was discoloured, it looked it was sand colored, absolutely awful. but AMS has served me well so far. but I had to cut it to fit to fit my frame, which was easy. But when applying it don't touch the adhesive side too much or you will remove it.
Can I only prep the bike with the iso and no water/soap? Edit: I find out that if you look at your previous bike that does not have tape, it's a lot easier to tell where you should apply the stuff
Wouldn't it be easier to wet down the frame/sticker with soapy water so you can slide it into place? I'm a auto body tech and that's how we apply rock guard and decals. Then you just use something stiff to work out the bubbles and water. We use actual squeagie's meant for the job but a credit card or something would work.
Only ridden it 10-15 times? But you're supposed to ride your bike every day! If my math is correct, it's been more than 15 days since you go it in November.
My wife just bought a new bike and we are looking to get some frame protection for her. She is pretty short so even on an XS frame she rubs the top tube while standing over it on hills. Need to protect the beautiful blue paint job.
I thought you use them because they're a sponsor of yours and we should buy their products through your links... Would these guards actually prevent a scratch or scuff if I dropped my bike on a rock or had to bail and threw my bike into a tree?
Greg, they'll definitely help against minor hits that would otherwise leave superficial damages, like scratches or chipping some paint off. I bought the clear version for my bike, and it's handled rocks that have been sent up by my tires with no issues. I haven't had any crashes that have left any visible damage to the protector or frame since I installed it. It did get ripped in a certain spot once, when I loaded it onto a shuttle truck that had no protective liner while we went up some really nasty roads. I was lucky in that the material bunched up and there was no damage to the bike's paint. It's a small area, about a square centimeter, where the frame sat against the bare metal of the truck bed's raised edge. That was a poor decision on my behalf, but I was really interested in shuttling that hill. I understand that your comment might not be mean-spirited, but Josh is being very transparent about how he got those product samples and sharing his opinion. I think he's been very honest so far in all the videos I've seen, so I think his integrity can be counted on at this point. Have you seen him promoting products that are frequently found to be defective or of poor quality? I'd like to know if that's the case.
RGCastro7 definitely not trying to be mean spirited, I see I may have come off as trolling his videos, but I didn't mean it that way. I enjoy his videos, and I understand he may be trying to make a living off the videos. I guess I'm just sour that most videos nowadays it's hard to tell if the UA-camr actually believes in the product, or is just trying to push a product onto us. I appreciate your own personal review on the product, but it's hard for me to see the value in it when it's just a clear piece of plastic/sticker to protect the bike. A rock or sharp branch should have no issue with making you need a replacement. As cool as the product looks on his Evil.
Thanks for your follow-up, Greg. I understand your position better now. Agreed, anything that would cause more than minor cosmetic damage will likely still cause the same damage, so it's not really that much protection. Still, those looking for some style or to keep their bikes as flawless as possible will find some value in this product. Have a great weekend!
I totally hear you Greg. I'm one of the few guys who doesn't make a living of UA-cam and doesn't want to. Like I said in the video, I was an AMS fan way before they reached out to me. Just know - I'd never connect with a company if I wouldn't buy it on my own dime. Thanks for asking though!
Looks great on your bike im thinking than i should put it on my downhill bike, but will it fix on a bigger bike or dose it come in sizing? Thanks love the vids can not wait to go riding
I probably would have put the largest piece you put on the top of your top tube at the bottom of the down tube. Unless you have one of those bike racks where an arm comes down on to the top of the top tube to secure it. I also protected my bike but I went a different route.
Hey I have a question so I just installed ams guard on my bike so I shouldn’t be worried about the sticker peeling the paint off right ? Thanks @DailyMTBRider
Sweet design on those stickers man love the new look...hey im in Bellingham until Sunday for work...i dont have my bike, but would be sweet to meet up at least!
Just my opinion of course, with no offense intended...but didn't just turn an awesome looking bike into something purchased from Walmart? That's what Walmart bikes look like!! The better approach, in my opinion, take a picture of the bike when new and buy high quality electrical tape. Slowing go around every part of your bike. Thieves are discouraged, scatches and dents minimized. You know what's under the tape and that's all that matters. Of course your ego and images of your financial status may suffer.
LUL, if you crack your frame from a impact like that your bike protection like this can not prevent that. Try physics next time... Also AL frames will fuck up from impacts like that.
Completely kills the look of the bike. More to the point why does it need protecting, its a bike.. its meant to be used. Do you slam stickers all over your car and house also...?
this product is ridiculously over priced i got 1 like 5 months ago and it literally brings like 14 TINY pieces in it. There is not even a full thing piece to cover your entire chain stay. disappointing.
The AMS on the Wreckoning really took it to the next level in design. Great video. I put this stuff on my Yeti back in July and I can testify that it really is durable and works. That's great to know on wear/chips. I hope my heal rub areas don't get affected too much when I take it off
Note, I only had to take one sticker off becomes I screwed up putting it on and it pulled quite a bit of paint, operator error mixed with the flaky matte black yeti paint (its very delicate lol), If you have to pull it off, just note where the chip might be and work your way around by pulling in a circle and it will be all right! It's a great product nick, you won't be disappointed!
It's a little late for my current bike but it will be the first thing I do on my next bike.
It's a worth while upgrade, that's for sure!
That big piece was supposed to be for the down tube as the tire kicks up dirt/debris. I don't see a point putting protector on the top tube. Keep it up, looking forward to this channel. Might pick some up form my SC Nomad.
I hear you and knew that Lorenzo. My top tube was getting a ton of scratches and I needed to cut a smaller piece for my down tube.
Placement is preference, also the top tube takes alot of abuse from knee pads and shuttles
My top tube is tore up from my shoes rubbing it when slinging myself over it, I guess. I don't ever remember hitting my top tube but there it is, ruined...
The frame guards below XL are typically used for the top tube, where as the XL and larger are for the down tubes.
lo
Love the idea of bike protectant but more of a clear guard, not sure I’d do anything to change the look of a bike that rad!
Ty Taubenheim yeah, I think the patterns are too big. They cover too much of the frame color imo
They've got a clear design and some solid colors, too. Clear is the one I currently have on my bike.
Yeah, barf on the pattern. I really think it detracted from the bike.
And it's isopropyl not isUpropyl. :)
RGCastro7 if youre gonna buy the clear one, then whats the point of buying a brand frame guard when you could just buy one off ebay?
I hear you on the pattern Ty and you other folks - it's a big change but I dig the look!
I have been using it for a while now. the only thing to keep in mind is that if you clamp the frame where the AMS protector is it will eventually stretch the protector.
That's a great thing to remember - thanks Johannes!
I've got the clear guard from AMS on my bike, and it's worked really well, too. I'm very happy with their product, and I'll likely buy some in the Digital Camo, Ape, or Wolf design.
The guards just work - and work really well!
Why did u put the down tube sticker on the top tube
Because it was way too big for my down tube and covered the Evil Logo.
@@DailyMTBRider Maybe I'm confused, but is it not larger risk of impact on the down tube?
I use an old inner tube with cable ties to protect the rear side of my bike and its works so well that i even use it to protect my crank arms.
That’s always a solid and cheap way to protect your bike! Can’t complain with that!
I used this to add some design to a one color generic carbon frame. Looks good, works good. 3 years and counting...
It looks so good, can’t wait to see it in another video!
The new look will make many appearances!
Great vid n glad to say I uped the vid with the 1000th like
The cool thing about frame guards is that they are everywhere besides the places in which your bike get get hit by stuff. I would buy guard if there were some fory fork and dropouts.
AMS makes guards for the forks, though not for the dropouts ;)
RG is right, they make them for forks!
The bike looks awesome with those frame guards. I'm wondering how to pick up mine!
They are pretty sweet - just click the link in my description to get your own!
It did indeed peel paint for me on my 2021 stumpjumper pro…. I did contact both companies to see if there were any other reason why this could or if it possibly a manufacturer defect…
I think its way too late to do on my current rig but probrably will do on my new one, love ur videos 👍
Edit: Changed my mind they look so dope that maybe I'm gonna buy some 😀😂
That's awesome to hear you changed your mind Tomi! AMS is a great upgrade for sure!
Yeah I'm gonna get some as soon as the snow melts here in Finland!
I had to cut some of mine as well, luckily it was super easy!
did you just use one pack on the bike?
I think I used 2 packs on this one!
Can I only prep the bike with the iso and no water/soap?
Edit: I find out that if you look at your previous bike that does not have tape, it's a lot easier to tell where you should apply the stuff

I love AMS, I've Collaborated with them a ton!
Only ridden it 10-15 times? But you're supposed to ride your bike every day! If my math is correct, it's been more than 15 days since you go it in November.
Hahaha - totally Muffin Time - That's trail rides, not just popping around the neighborhood! And do forget I ride my hardtail 50% of the time!
Looks amazing man! So does that Yaris with the murdered out rims!
The Yaris doesn't get enough love.... mainly because it's cheaper than the Evil 😂
no mention of Shelter tape? the most seriously protective high tech option available.
I'll have to check it out James, I haven't heard of it!
My wife just bought a new bike and we are looking to get some frame protection for her. She is pretty short so even on an XS frame she rubs the top tube while standing over it on hills. Need to protect the beautiful blue paint job.
These would be a great option for her for sure!
some times isopropanol can damage the color, in my bike i used it to remove stickers and it didnt faded it but the matt finish became glossy
That's really good to know ilias - I don't have a matte finish so I have nothing to worry about!
Looks sick actually looks better waved an support you awesome video!
I thought you use them because they're a sponsor of yours and we should buy their products through your links... Would these guards actually prevent a scratch or scuff if I dropped my bike on a rock or had to bail and threw my bike into a tree?

Hope they are giving you some scrilla cause im sold. Looks sweet. Buying one for my friend also.
They are not man! That's how much I love the product that I don't even care, I just want people to know about it!
Great vid...Nice looking protectant. Precut makes it easier than helicopter tape.
It's so easy it should be illegal!
Does this protection also protect your bike against impacts like rocks? or does it only protect against scratches
It's mainly scratches Golf, but helps with wear from rubbing and rock nicks too.
ok thanks for the answer
Awesome, i was looking int allmountain, one question, did you use only one packet of protection on your bike?
I ended up using 2 XL packs for the Evil!
Great video did you know that they also make kits for your forks? Your bike looks Great.
I did Joseph! If I had a truck pad I'd be sure to get them!
I protected my carbon roker comp and just bought an aluminum MT bike. Should I wrap an aluminum bike?
Using AMS on aluminum bikes keeps the paint fresh - so I'd say to do it!
Your frame looks badass now
Yeah it does!
Looks great on your bike im thinking than i should put it on my downhill bike, but will it fix on a bigger bike or dose it come in sizing?
Thanks love the vids can not wait to go riding
It will fit any bike Matt - you may need to buy two packs though!
What set did you get the basic protection, extra protection, full protection, or the total protection?
Thanks, :)
Is this thick and strong enough to replace those chain stay wraps?
What kind of tape did you mention at the beginning? Mastic is it?
I believe so!
Masking tape!!
can I use rubbing alcohol instead? the ones they use in hospitals?
yes you can, that's the alcohol I used is.
Daily MTB Rider oh thanks you
I probably would have put the largest piece you put on the top of your top tube at the bottom of the down tube. Unless you have one of those bike racks where an arm comes down on to the top of the top tube to secure it. I also protected my bike but I went a different route.
I do have that type of bike rack - and putting it on the bottom covered the EVIL graphic
What is the diameter of the handlebars?
Is that 180mm of travel bike?
161mm in the rear, 160mm in the fork me amigo!
What kind of bike do you have?
This is a 2018 Evil Wreckoning
Thank You. it is a very nice bike.
Looks sick!
Thanks J Croft, I really like it!
That looks so awesome
Thanks man, I really like it!
That kit is about $35. I got a meter of guard tape from my LBS for $16 and did the whole bike. No designs, just clear.
Well i actually wanna buy a new MTB so can you tell me how xan i check this one out?
Go to your local bike shop and see if they sell Evil! or just find a dealer on their website.
shoudlve got the frame guards before i scratched up my frame real bad
You and me both my friend!
ride every day?
Ahhhh... the clamp on the dropper... x_x also do they make anything for wheels and cranks?
Not that I have seen, but you could cut a piece for your cranks. And you know me, clamp away!
What problem with clamping on dropper? When you sit on it while you riding then much more forces with changing direction its applied on it.
This video was made before the last live stream
That's the truth!
why do you keep clamping your bike by the dropper?
Hey I have a question so I just installed ams guard on my bike so I shouldn’t be worried about the sticker peeling the paint off right ? Thanks @DailyMTBRider
Dont forget guys, stickers makes your bikes faster.
You know it man, and so does having a matching kit 😂
Why is it not just clear ?
Nice job ! Love the color have the same color bike Ebike Haibike .
Sweet design on those stickers man love the new look...hey im in Bellingham until Sunday for work...i dont have my bike, but would be sweet to meet up at least!
Sorry I missed you buddy, I was as bummed as you were. And thanks man, I think it looks great!
No worries man...next time for sure!
No need frame guard.
I love the dent on my bike.
Hahaha hey, dents are a sign of a good time!
Just my opinion of course, with no offense intended...but didn't just turn an awesome looking bike into something purchased from Walmart?
That's what Walmart bikes look like!!

I totally hear you McCrae - some people love it and some people don't. That's what the clear stuff is for 😉
Shuddup and take my money! 💰
That will be 40 dollars.
I am serious about that.
You and me both man!
Real good 😎
Thanks Rayven!
Downtube protector is way too short. Need at least 18" not 12".
yeah
HELICOPTER TAPE IF YOUR BIKE HAS PAINT DECALS ON IT !
Awesome looks great.!
I think it looks pretty dang awesome!
Too bad they don't have any products for Trek bikes. Seems to cater two or three brands of bikes.
Their product actually fits any bike! People just love to protect their higher end bikes so that might be why you've seen them more.
Seems way too positive and like an advert, rather than a product recommendation or review. Disappointed really.
But...but so much weight penalty bro! Is it even aero bro? [jokes]
hahaha - I used it to make the bike more Aero - and it makes my spandex look better on me 😂
Not for that price! I will stick with big sheet of clear 3M vinyl for 10 bucks !
Hey if that works for you then there's nothing wrong with that!
Me agrado
It looks like a blue bike with the paint peeling off and showing the black primer. 👎🏽
I hear you chance. It's one of those love or hate kind of things!
Mountain bikes are meant to be abused, I don’t see the point in this if I constantly crash
it will make a huge difference, for carbon frames protection is a must a rock can damage the frame and the frame can crack.
LUL, if you crack your frame from a impact like that your bike protection like this can not prevent that. Try physics next time...
Also AL frames will fuck up from impacts like that.
It's all about rock chip and rubbing protect. That helps your bike hold it's value for longer!
Serp D. Of course I saw the Greg minaar v10 29er crash, where he crashed to a pole, frame snapped, no protection would prevent that.
icy profile alcohol
Completely kills the look of the bike. More to the point why does it need protecting, its a bike.. its meant to be used. Do you slam stickers all over your car and house also...?
Franzi Poxon so u don’t mind paint chips ?
this product is ridiculously over priced i got 1 like 5 months ago and it literally brings like 14 TINY pieces in it. There is not even a full thing piece to cover your entire chain stay. disappointing.
but for $40, nah
I hear you man! But it's better than scratches
Makes ur bike look like a zebra lol
Not on my bike ever!!!!,i'd prefer clear protectors bcos it's less invasive :)
I totally hear you man. I dig the look, but there's always clear for you.
Daily MTB Rider each to their own i suppose :)
mtb's made to be ridden hard and beaten bad... get a fixie.
Haha a fixie would be intense on the trails!
Congratulations... u ruined it. Invisible frame protection pls
It looks crap
That's a fair point of view Julian - I disagree - but understand your view
Wow! that looks awful.
Haha, I love it Gary - but there's always clear for you!
