I was the same way with my mountain bike, though I kept her clean. However, my Motorcycle that's a different story. I wash her everytime I take her out, if she has been sitting in my garage for more than couple days, she gets cleaned, carefully too, don't want a scratch on her. 4:33 I would also recoomend checking that you steam has been fitted correctly and is not clamped to the spacers. I failed to do this on my trail bike and it broke my leg on Vanderers Trail @ FOD.
With the rear axles and these hanger nuts, make sure to check those. You definitely don't want those two over tight. The hanger nut is a backwards thread and usually around 25 Nm. The axle is regular thread and around 10 Nm. I neglected to check mine this summer and they had tightened together to the point where I couldn't get the axle out. The hex head on the axle was stripping. The bike shop ended up using a drill and snapping the axle in half trying to loosen them. It's a good idea to loosen these two off, then re-tighten to spec.
Had my rear axel come out on a downhill in Colorado. Very lucky that it happened on a flat stretch after some chunk and before the coming jumps…it could have gone terribly wrong.
I'm running hot waxed chain and really liking the results. While not all hot wax is same the one, I'm using real seem to work really well. I say try a few different hot waxes you may find some to work better then traditionally lubes and that after initial setup it's actual easier to maintain.
I used paraffin wax, cheapest on Amazon, and it’s work amazing. You must get the chain absolutely clean before your apply it. I used a very very nasty solvent to clean it
When I put together my 29 inch Specialized camber I did a couple of these tips I definitely covered up my low end against chain bounce but everything else I ended up just kind of letting happen naturally cuz I knew ultimately it was going to catch some scratches
Yup. Such a great point. We spend thousands upon thousands on these things, but you have to realize going in that the whole point is you are going to beat the living shit out of it! You have to fully expect that it's going to get scratched and scuffed on your first ride. If it doesn't, you're lucky, but then expect it to get that way on the 2nd ride, lol!
OR you want to protect your investment because even if you ride under “normal” usage you decide to have fun. You go beyond, god forbid, limitations. Or, this is another wild concept, strange or bad things happen. Imagine how STUPID you’d feel if you ride while having a good time but your frame and, GASP, it suffers irreparable/structural damage that could’ve been prevented if you just put a little extra work into protecting it rather than just assuming that your high earned money/blind faith in manufacturer would protect you.

NONE of those tipps in the video would help you in those situations... A bike is an investment? Then put it in the living room or garage to preserve and admire it.
I always hear "how is your chain so shiny?" When I tell people that I clean and lube my chain they act as if they've never heard of it, makes shifting really smooth and keeps the bike looking fresh, keep it up GMBN!
I think that was another thing that was kind of confusing was really understanding how much travel I was working with in comparison to the 275 set up that was on that I was on before I set up my 29er and when I really think about it I only had to really adjust my travel short bit having gone from a hardtail to a full suspension setup
my top tip for spray lube is apply it nearer the front cogs. helps keep over spray from getting everywhere. Not sure of negatives of putting it on ther though
I found riding through Heather cleaned my chainrings, and coarse wet trail sand cleaned out chain lube. That said I live 10 km down a dirt road, s my car never gets a decent wash aside from when it’s windy and rains++

45 years of riding and I didn't check my tyres Sunday, how I didn't snake bite the front. How I didn't notice on the way up... Interestingly.. on the way up I was too tired to ride, so I walked the bike up the shorter steep firebreak... and what normally takes me 30min took 18... Makes me wonder... Is it quicker at a bike park to walk your bike up the steepest road rather than the shallow well trodden "way up". (My example is Makara Peak, Wellington NZ's 'Upswing' into 'Aratihi' as the normal low grade (under 10%) climb vs the 16%ish firebreak 'Snake Charmer' at about half the distance.)

You mean around the chain stay? That's the best product to use. They are cheap and a great way to recycle old inner tubes. I have also found them to quiet the chain slap.
I like the idea of those complete protection kits but only really works if you have a fairly mainstream bike. If you have anything slightly more unusual it's easier to just buy the 3M tape separately. Never understood people who wrap their chainstay in mastic tape (which is expensive) it looks like a bodge and those neoprene/velcro protectors are neater and really cheap. Can get unbranded ones off ebay. Quite nice to get a good coat of wax on the rest of the frame too to make cleaning easier. Crank boots are also quite good for protecting the ends of your Crank from being bashed. I've not yet had a new bike that came set up with tubeless. Currebt bike has tubeless ready rims but not tyres. Not going to waste perfectly good tyres so tubes it is until they are worn out then maybe consider tubeless. Does sound like a bit of a faff tho

And if you're running carbon fiber, don't go torque down bolts without knowing the proper torque settings. Please. You will destroy the carbon fiber and possibly cause a serious accident if it fails.

Not sure about that product. I use Rock n Roll lube. They make a dry wax lube. It's the yellow bottle/liquid.

When finishing a trail ride use mud daddy to take of the dirt helps maintain it too...

I went from a short wheelbase 26" wheel bike to a long wheelbase 29er with out learning to ride the 29er. I was wrecking continuously.

Also have a raw carbon. Just some clear film is great on it. You can still see the carbon weave that way.

tubeless faff! Nah, prep properly, watch a good few vids for tips and most importantly, don't try rush it the first time doing it.
