Great review and agree on most of it. I can’t help to relate to one of my favourite games of all time Settlers 3. What that game had this one is missing: overall strategy, objectives and military tactics. Fighting a potential big military force and getting a high sense of urgency while developing your city would make a huge difference and would want me to play it more. Being able to play online and forming clans competing each other and also a more advanced campaign mode would be awesome. Anyway, my overall impression of the game is great and if the above would be part of the game I’m sure I would be stuck and play it long term.

I used to be crazy for The Settlers format, but I think it's been done to death over the years and I need more to the experience to make it worthwhile. Games like Frostpunk made it clear that watching your little dudes build things and take on jobs works best when it's part of an overarching goal or narrative.
Great point re: Frostpunk. Makes me wonder why we haven't seen more copycat games that apply the same formula to different environmental extremes (Firepunk, Nukepunk, etc.).

@@MEGAthemicro There are a handful of them. Ixion was one I tried and was pretty disappointed with, but there's also Endzone - A World Apart and I suppose Airborne Kingdom, but I never got around to playing that. I think there was one that was set underwater as well, but I don't remember what happened with it. There's a pretty delicate balance that has to be achieved between making the theme feel relevant and not just a city builder and the theme making it feel like a torture simulator.
According to the devs, there is no timer for enemies. They get triggered when you get too close to their camp. Therefore, you could try to avoid them until you have strong enough troops to beat them. I do agree with the point that a tutorial would be great to teach that kind of stuff.

It’s on sale for $25 and I know there have been some patches and stuff added. Any new thoughts? Considering supporting them.
I've been pleased with the number of content updates and hotfixes PoP has gotten since its EA release. It's in a considerably better place. The "attack move" feature they added is a great QoL feature. I haven't gotten to try out the new co-op mode, but I'm planning to before 1.0 comes out.
Does it have resolution mode settings?My PC setup is not very robbust. I appriciate the answer since I have no idea if it will work fine on my computer(demo works). Thank you.
I'm in the menus right now and I don't see a resolution mode setting. That said, there are a number of fidelity settings (texture, shadow, rendering distance, frame limiter).

I think visually this game looks really great, and it seems to run smooth in the footage you provided. How do you generally feel about resource management/4x games? As this is early, do you have hope that the complaints will be corrected? I'm intrigued for now.
Generally speaking, I love 4X games! Age of Wonders 4 was one of the best games I played this year. Pioneers of Pagonia, meanwhile, has a solid foundation but a decent ways to go before it becomes a title I'll recommend to 4X fans (not enough substance yet).
How about for $21.67?
Right around the $20 range is probably when I'd say it's worth checking out if the mechanics/style intrigue you. I don't expect the game to dip below that for a very long time (if ever).

I couldn't quite tell if you were being facetios or if you were honestly put off by the reduced focus on combat.
Definitely a bit put off, as I didn't find it particularly fun or satisfying.
@@MEGAthemicroAgreed, sometimes the micromanagement aspect is done well in the games but this time it seems to lean more on the tedious side, making the complete package a bit of a mixed bag
When is it coming to console ?
No announcement on that, yet, but I would guess it'll take 1-2 years if ever (sorry).

Dissapointed game because how work wrong this game, economy, combat, expand, explorer. Nothing work nothing nailed everyting is automated boring 👎 very sad I'm waiting 2 month for this game 😢 I think Settlers New Allies still better because it don't feel automated everything is control like Engineer you need to click to expand, explored, and delivered good that what the game must have fun and acdictive. This game nothing it all. Sorry my english
