Here are some recommendations & fixes: 1. No screen sharing - Close everything first, connect your iPhone to your Mac (using wire cable) - Open QT > File > New Movie Recording - At the right side of the red dot button, in camera > choose your phone name 2. No audio - At the right side of the red dot button, in microphone > choose your phone name - Make sure to toggle the audio button to maximum in QT voila, screen sharing with audio! For anyone who doesn't want to pay for Reflector 3, there's a free option for wireless mirroring which is Zoom's Share Screen feature: 1. In Zoom, create a new meeting (configuration doesn't matter, you can make it private if you want) 2. Click Share Screen > iPhone/iPad via AirPlay 3. Go to your iPhone and mirror your screen just like you would with Reflector (must still be in the same WiFi) 4. There you go, wireless mirroring for free Thank me later :D

If it doesn't after that, try going to the menu on the top right pressing down, and uncheck Portrait Orientation Lock. This locks the orientation in all the apps but again, once you unlock it, it will only work with certain functions like texts or safari
same thing happened to me easy fix- if pause at 0:27 and look to the left of the red dot in quicktime, you'll see a volume slider. it's always set to mute on startup, just move the slider up to desired volume and that's it!

Thank you! It worked for me. Someone was saying that the audio didn't work for them, you have to change the settings for the audio as well in the same way you selected the video device.

is there an actual way to use any of these or other methods to view and control your phone (using USB plugged in or wireless). The quicktime method is just viewing your screen not sure whats the real utility there besides actually making youtube videos. i came across these videos searching for a ways to use my mac to view and control my Iphone as i get tons of messages and emails all the time, and its just easier/faster to reply using mac than constantly type on iPhone's tiny keyboard. So my screen was dead on iPhone and had to clear some stuff in third party application, and this worked damn well

Hmm...doesn't work with QT for me. QT doesn't give iphone as a camera option...
it worked for me after quitting QT plugging the phone back in, then starting it up again. i then had the option.

when you go to control center there is an option to lock your screen so that it doesn't rotate, you can turn that one off.
