"Now you must seek the humiliation" is a subversion of that. It means "If you don't act, it's the same as being rejected. But depending on how you're rejected, the consequences of your efforts might be humiliation and pain".

I can't over just how perfect the line "Do you have a wallet?" is. It just sits perfectly on the edge of almost getting the point across awkwardness.
