KoRn was psychological horror with sexual undertones far before Silent Hill, their songs dealt with mental/physical/sexual abuse and inner demons. Though not much with the occult or actual demons.

Anything else from here on is going to feel like a strange cousin to the mythos. That said, I'm looking forward to the Silent Hill 2 remake as that game is one of my faves of all time.

This song is so amazing, but it's only Jonathan Davis, if it was Korn you would've been able to tell it was them, the guitars would've sounded lower and dirtier, the drums would've sounded more live and deeper and trust me the bass would've been MUCH more audible
It was only Jonathan, munky, and the new drummer and field but field did play for this they asked him to be more subtle because his slap style didn't fit
Incredible brother! 🤘🏻 literally was sitting here like "wonder if anyone has done any metal covers for Silent Hill songs? " Searched and boom... 🤘🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I really liked Downpour, to be completely honest. SH2 will always be my favorite, and no one will ever match Yamaoka's music when it comes to Silent Hill, but Downpour did a good job and was vastly superior to Homecoming, which borrowed too much from the film. Downpour was a solid 8/10 for me.
FandA exactly. I don't understand the hate on this game. Gameplay was somewhat similar to SH2 (and so was the theme,) soundtrack was great, the characters were believable and extremely well voice-acted, the Void chase sequences were very tense and panic-inducing, and the graphics are pretty good. And in my humble opinion, the Bogeyman was fucking creepy as all hell. Here's a MASSIVE person dressed in all black, with a raincoat, a gas mask and a hammer that looks at least as big as Murphy, with not an inch of skin visible - you don't even know what it looks like, if it's even human, until the reveal that [SPOILERS] it looks different for everyone depending on who they hate - which I thought was an awesome idea; you never assume guilt, you just blame the "Bogeyman" because it's easier. And eventually you start seeing another human being as somehing evil, twisted, a monster. You dehumanize them because you actively hate them, and hate turns them into something not even worthy of being alive. I thought this was brilliant. Not to mention this motherfucker kills a little kid ON SCREEN in one of the most chilling scenes from the entire franchise. There's also the Wheelchair monster which looks utterly horrifying and depressing at the same time. [END SPOILERS.] Sure, Pyramid Head was extremely creepy when SH2 came out, and he still is in the game, but the fame that he gained which turned him into somewhat of a mascot for the series along with the Bubble Head Nurse destroys some of that creep factor for me personally. The Bogeyman is not that well known nor has it been turned into a meme or a mascot, which makes it a little more unsettling for me. I also thoroughly enjoyed the open world exploration and the creepy little side quests. My only complaint is the regular enemies aren't really creepy apart from maybe the Doll, but other than that I REALLY don't think this game deserves any of the hate it gets. People need to stop demanding every single SH game that comes out be Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill 2 is a masterpiece, and there will never be another one like it, but that doesn't mean all newer SH games are bad. Even Homecoming has its share of creepy moments (Scarlet, for example.)
FandA Yup. All Silent Hill games were enjoyable to me, including P.T. and my least favorite, Homecoming. Too bad Konami seems determined to kill the franchise and bury it.

I'm a long time fan of Silent Hill, and I love this song ! Silent Hill Downpour is a great game and this song fit perfectly to the game athmosphere. When I hear it the first time, I thinking it doesn't fit at all to the serie, but I have played the game, and finally this song is perfect.
Personally I think John fucking killed it. (In a good way) And people complaining "Oh KoRn isn't atmospheric enough..." I'm pretty sure this was around their "Untitled" album era, that album was EXTREMELY atmospheric. It was either during or after, because their sound had changed dramatically during this time, which I feel made them perfect for the part. Now I do think the original composer was the best for series... but this is probably one of the highlights of the american franchise, for ME, because im a DIE HARD KoRn fan.

Yes and you get to see the actual artist and his skill not that of the entire band. Now days most can't even say or brag. They need Autotune or can't sing any talent
James Dipego Licht is awesome composer(Dishonored,Dexter) but his ost in this game was only good but not great so i think he did a good job but he couldn't repeat the same level for this franchise
Downpour came out in between The Path of Totality(they're dubstep influenced album)and The Paradigm Shift(they're return to more darker, more aggrisive music like they're stuff from the 90s), and it definitely shows in this song.
It might be a good song. But in terms of Silent Hill and it’s tone. It’s too edgy and in ur face. It’s like an annoying angsty teenager rather than a beautiful yet terrifying decent in to what seems like insanity becoming reality. It’s not at all atmospheric. Maybe it is in regards to Korns musical history but this is Silent Hill man.. It’s a horrible choice.

It's crazy to remember how the death of 3 VERY well known horror series happened in 2012 Resident evil 6,Dead space 3 and downpour (might as well throw in alone in the dark even though the last entry was from 2015). Resident evil is still going strong sure and 6 did sell well but the community hated the game at launch forcing Capcom to backpeddle and soft reboot the series, ignoring the events of 6 while also starting a new timeline with the remakes. Meanwhile with dead space and silent hill, their final releases we're so poorly received that it caused the teams that worked on those games to be put out of commission and forced both series to go into hiatus only to reemerge 10 years later. Crazy. Now it's like their back in full swing, but I'm still skeptical with silent hill, knowing it's konami. Not just hinting at the P.T incident but just their treatment of the series as a whole. I thought downpour was a good effort, better then homecoming in some aspects but still couldn't really live up to the legacy that team silent created. I don't wanna sound like another TS rider, I enjoyed both homecoming and downpour for what they we're, downpour TRIED to be different and didn't rely on anything from previous games but the story still lacked the impact of 1-4. Hopefully 2 remake can breath new life into the series again but if it doesn't, we expected it to fail knowing how konami threats their game's. If it succeeds? Color us surprised, maybe we should be hyped for another Konami game, just like how things used to be in the 2000s.
"I tear a hole inside my head to let the demons go. I cut my flesh to purge the hatred from so long ago." Yikes, this hits me too hard and too specifically right now. 🤐
the only reason most silent hill games dont coincide with one another its due to its a town haunted by a large number of ghost. in this game you see a ghost by the name of susie and you are on her turf. as you go around you see other ghost and other people who are ghost like. along monsters that only exist in your head. its the one game that actually shows that there is more to silent hill than what we thought. what it isnt reavealed is why the powerfull ghost are fighting with one another for control over silent hill.
i hate to be that guy, but it's almost certain that whoever worked on this game had no idea what was orginally intended. Don't want to destroy your fun with fan theorys but i have no idea what yours would add. i really don't want to sound rude but a lot of people make weird explainations for stuff that is explained already and i don't really get it
Termine el juego hace poco y debo admitir que me gustó el juego, admito que había más de un puzzle que me dejaba trabado, pero siempre lo terminaba, sin tutoriales, pues me gusta jugar los juegos de Silent Hill sin tutoriales. "Too much gore in this game and no psychological horror, this is not at all like Silent Hill, these games lack subtlety" -Someone that doesn't understand this game, or Homecoming's story
When it firstly came out I though it doesn't fit the game. Now I've got no problem with imagining this song as the soundtrack for all the fights with all those horrific monsters from all the games. But the thing that suits silent hill in this song is the intro (as If the "Otherworld" is emerging) and bridge (those whispers). Not to mention that although this song is composed by Jonathan Davis, the guitars are dark but not brutal, making it a quite good atmospheric song
I came to listen that controversial song from What Happend? video - Silent Hill Downpour I don't know what wrong with that song it sounds damn good to me.
While this song is pretty good, I don't think it fits the Silent Hill atmosphere. Silent Hill was always suppose to be shrouded in mystery, making one feel dread, but also feel a sense of familiarity and it is that sense of familiarity that causes an over-arch of insecurity. This would get to the point where characters were questioning who they were and why they were doing what they were. This song is just nothing but dread.
Cuddly Jon Untouchables is definitely more “Silent Hill-ish”. My TV didn’t have very good sound back in the day so I played that album in the background to it, damn good combo
I think the biggest problem with this song is its typical pop/rock structure. There will always be a limit to the amount of ethereal atmosphere you can apply with this verse/chorus/verse/etc. structure, and no amount of ProTools will fix that limitation.
Finally just read your profile pic, and you need way more subscribers, that joke must rise to the top, so anyone reading this...read the joke, laugh, and subscribe. This has to happen.

I think this song would've suited Silent Hill 4 pretty well, for some reason
Now that you mention it.... YES
a year has passed and I just realized it was "song" instead of "game" 😂
@@VVB1tcj Hahaha but I agree with you. SH 4 for sure.
It definitely would.
AMO SILENT HILL E ESSA MSC E FODA D+ vlw :3

Konami has sent so many game franchise to the pachinko mines (MGS, silent hill, winning eleven, yugioh, contra, DDR, suikoden and silent scope etc..)
Yo pretty ladies in Silent Hill
Got a weird thing to show ya
Like a little missing girl
Love that postman
the only reason most silent hill games dont coincide with one another its due to its a town haunted by a large number of ghost. in this game you see a ghost by the name of susie and you are on her turf. as you go around you see other ghost and other people who are ghost like. along monsters that only exist in your head. its the one game that actually shows that there is more to silent hill than what we thought. what it isnt reavealed is why the powerfull ghost are fighting with one another for control over silent hill.
i hate to be that guy, but it's almost certain that whoever worked on this game had no idea what was orginally intended. Don't want to destroy your fun with fan theorys but i have no idea what yours would add. i really don't want to sound rude but a lot of people make weird explainations for stuff that is explained already and i don't really get it
Silent Hill is your own hell. Everyone has their own silent Hill. Some just don't realize it yet.
-Silent Hill Downpour
-Silent Hill Shattered Memories
-Silent Hill Origins
-Silent Hill 4 The Room
Me falta jugar los 3 grandes:
-Silent Hill 3
-Silent Hill 2
-Silent Hill 1
El Homecoming no creo que lo vaya a jugar, quizás lo deje para último pero nada más, quiero ya probar los 3 Silent Hill principales.
Que grande yo solo he acabado
Silent hill 2
Silent hill 3
Silent hill Downpour
Silent hill Homecoming
"Too much gore in this game and no psychological horror, this is not at all like Silent Hill, these games lack subtlety"
-Someone that doesn't understand this game, or Homecoming's story
This song sounds like it coulda been on see you on the otherside!! Either way its awesome!! \m/
Just picture Murphy brutalizing Pat Napier for killing his son and you're set--no wait this is a thing in the game
THE FEELS
Just waiting till 2
One of my favorite game series with easily my favorite band tied with Slipknot, Korn for life 🤘🌽
I miss the original team Silent...
Why is it not on Spotify?? I love it
I came to listen that controversial song from What Happend? video - Silent Hill Downpour
I don't know what wrong with that song it sounds damn good to me.
Same here lol
Same here too
I mean, I love Korn and this is a cool song. Just doesn't feel like a silent hill song without Akira Yamaoka.
agreed
It sucks Spotify took this off their app.
frr
While this song is pretty good, I don't think it fits the Silent Hill atmosphere. Silent Hill was always suppose to be shrouded in mystery, making one feel dread, but also feel a sense of familiarity and it is that sense of familiarity that causes an over-arch of insecurity. This would get to the point where characters were questioning who they were and why they were doing what they were. This song is just nothing but dread.
Cuddly Jon Untouchables is definitely more “Silent Hill-ish”. My TV didn’t have very good sound back in the day so I played that album in the background to it, damn good combo
You kidding? It fits perfectly.
best music ever
silent hill is love
Silent Hill is Live
I love Korn as much as i love Yamaoka. This song kicks ass!
I don't even know this game, and I still have this song
age like wine
loved the game .. awesome trailer track
Played the game and I couldn’t stand when the Devil himself was chasing me! Yikes! Loved the game though it was pretty badass!
Silent Hill 😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘
Alguien mas viene por facu peralta??
Daniel Licht was - no suprise - put to a simple task: "just live up to the legend, Daniel".
Damn right, he did.
Am i the only one who thinks this song sounds like a theme to one of the live action resident evil films?
I think the biggest problem with this song is its typical pop/rock structure. There will always be a limit to the amount of ethereal atmosphere you can apply with this verse/chorus/verse/etc. structure, and no amount of ProTools will fix that limitation.
I hope you dont mind but I put this song in a playlist to listen to while I work
I love that music🤩🤩
exelente juego y cancion lml
Este tema da más para estar en el juego de Shadow de la play 2, sí o sí, ahí la rompían jaja
"If you tell the truth, you won't have to remember anything"
Rest in piece evil dead silent hill and friday the 13th. We will miss you dearly
Gawd I miss this game
That'd most likely be why. It's been years. In those years people have most likely gravitated towards their most recent music.

When i heard this song and i was just about to play the game it sounded oddly almost familiar and i couldnt tell why- but thats because im a bit of a Korn fan 😂😂 i couldnt tell it was him though till after i looked it up tho lol.
