When a song is so edgy it helps you fully flesh out your character's backstory, you know it's good.

This song is a good mix of the innocent ones who suffer, the consuming darkness, and the tormented protagonist trying to make sense of it all. May not be traditional Silent Hill at all but it does help put the player in their character's head.

This song did NOT deserve all the hate it got. Korn's lyricism is perfect for a Silent Hill setting.

As a Korn fan & long time SH fan, I was happy they announced he would be providing the vocals for the intro!
I do understand and feel like I know why they were upset about the song though.
Because Akira Yamaoka and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn weren’t involved, it had been fighting an uphill battle. When people disliked the game too? That’s the nail in the coffin.
Personally I love all of these songs. Downpour’s soundtrack still works but but many just were too attached to the familiarity of the Yamaoka/McGlynn duo.
Since he’s coming back for the SH2 remake though, here’s hoping Mary does too!

Despite what some judged about this game, I'd have to say it was honestly one of my favorite Silent Hill games. From the environment, to the puzzles and to the dark but interesting story. I truly hope Silent Hill can continue, one of the greatest survival horror franchises needs to live again!

Yes, now I have found you. I love it after hearing it in an intro that also got me to know One More Soul To The Call. Silent Hill music is amazing!

Love or hate or just indifferent to this entry in the Silent Hill series, it did bring us a new Korn song.
This is dark and heavy hitting, sounds great. I️ wasn’t a big fan of SYOTOS & Untitled, but I️ like this experimental aspect of Korn Jon was pushing before they did Korn 3. It would be cool if for their next album they combine the heavy guitars of the serenity of suffering with this experimental, almost world music style, only this time with heads melodic input

Downpour is my favorite Silent Hill game by far, and I have played through to 100% several times. I have no idea why the people who did not like the game made such a big deal out of their dislike, but i know there are tons of fans of this game. I just wish there were more games like it.
Whenever I hear this song it gets stuck in my brain for days after.
I agree Downpour wasn't perfect but it respected original material unlike *cough* Homecoming and actually felt like SH Game

@@user-sd4le2tk1j I liked Homecoming. But I definetly see why people hate it. The combat was terrible. The enemies were annoying. And it wasnt scary. Downpour has some flaws but man it is my favourite since it did something different instead of copying the previous silent hill games.

Cant beat Akira, and while I feel like this was an interesting substitute, still pretty solid
the instrumentation is pretty similar, which is no doubt intentional

Something weird about this song was how i knew it was korn and the singer Jonathan Davis singing but the weirdest thing was at the time i never knew what korn sounded like i just knew the name of the band ..maybe i had the band in my head and randomly assumed it was them and got it right but it always stuck me how i got it right almost as if i was destined to be a fan of korn O.o ..jk jk but for real i do love korn ..ive seem live and i have all their cds and this theme song made me love the game despite what people say about it !!

Despite Vatra Games less than stellar portfolio and that the studio went under, they should all be proud of this game. I consider it one of the best Silent Hill games ever made.
That’s giving way too much credit considering the game reused gameplay mechanics from Shattered memories.

This song was actually sort of atmospheric before the vocals came in and it decided to get down with the sickness
I 100% agree. Alone the song is not too bad, it is a bit too much like Disturbed or Linkin Park which are 5/10 bands to me, but yeah the vocals do not invoke atmosphere or horror at all. The first 40 seconds was not too bad at all.
@@RegalPixelKing I don't think the song is supposed to invoke horror, as much as it reflects Murphy's inner turmoil, with the child's voice representing the repressed events of Charlie in his head, before returning again to chaos.

This game was a masterpiece. Aaron Eckhart really brought Murphy to life from beginning to end in a way that redefined the Silent Hill franchise.

Mamba Gaming Network Yeah. Over Hollywoodizing was partly to blame. Downpour had a cast of big name actors, which made it really good but hurt it's sales.

Well, David Boyd Konrad isn't a big name actor. He did a great job on voicing Murphy!

Origins single handedly made silent hill 1 & 3 uncanon, ruined already established characters, the story was alright at best.

@@orlandofurioso7329 silent hill 1 had 4 endings, there was a really bad ending where harry was found dead in his car which means nothing in the game actually happened, in silent hill 3 harry is still alive which tells us which ending was the real one and also explains how the events of the game happened
The cannon ending according to origins is the very worst ending...the ending where harry is dead, how can it be a prequel to silent hill 1 and 3 if it chose the very worst ending, the ending where nothing happened?

I just beat the game and it is not garbage like most reviewers say. Sure it's not Silent Hill 2 or 3 are, but as a stand alone title, it was a great game once you forgive the minor bugs here and there. Some of them made me laugh so hard, like the glitchy weepers in the garage.

I don't want to take away anything from anyone who enjoys this song, but I sometimes come here to remind myself just how badly these guys did not understand the tone of Silent Hill. The further we got from the originals, the less coherent the whole thing got, and now we have a song saying things so explicitly that the game already communicated with actual subtlety. I don't think it's an inherently bad thing to talk about this stuff explicitly in music, by any means, but I don't think Silent Hill is the place for it. This stuff is already shown to us in the game, through the symbolism and the environmental storytelling. This is redundant and, in my opinion, very self-indulgent. It takes away from the subtlety and it hurt the experience for me to have this play at the end. It made me laugh, which I doubt was the intent. And I was someone who enjoyed the ending.

Yep, the plot of this game give SH 2 An honour of using the town of silent hill to explore every character's backstory. Not unsettling level like silent hill 1,2,3 and 4 did. But it's good enough!

Christ, Downpour’s intro OST did not go with the slow, melancholic and creepy atmosphere that Silent Hill is suppose to have.
