Hey my friend... I quickly skimmed through your videos hoping to find the one where you discover that the transom is rotten. I knew the transom was rotten from video #1. These old Grady's (1980s) were known for their faulty transoms. In fact my research talking to local fiberglassers up here in Boston showed that Grady even settled with new boat owners because transoms were bad.
I have a 1984 242 Caribbean. Purchased it for $500... came with the OMC seadrive also. To repair the transom I approached it from the inside. I cut the back of the cap, cut out the back seat section and opened it all up. My stringers were rotten and my back bulkhead wet. I pulled the tank (no auxiliary) and ultimately removed the 2 center walls all the way to the front cabin.
I haven't yet but will create a video of my Grady project that I hope to launch this summer. I enjoy the project and in the end know the boat will be solid and very functional. Don't give up!
