1800's Pennsylvania Bank Barn- It took A LOT OF PAINT!
When we bought the property the outside of the barn was worn. The ivy, weeds and trees were taking over. The spouting, doors and trim were falling and one full barn door was completely off its hinges. See the process of how we got it to where it is today. It's not perfect but to us it is!

Turning our field into forest with 360 trees!
Переглядів 1397 місяців тому
Last year we submitted an application to the @AllianceforthebayOrg for a lawn to forest conversion. They worked side by side with us the entire time; site evaluation, tree selection, tree marking, providing the trees and shelters. We liked the field but we knew trees would provide more opportunity for wildlife and save us 2 hours a week of mowing! We were overwhelmed by the many volunteers who ...

Enjoy a walking tour of the lower level of our Pennsylvania bank barn. The barn dimensions are 100' x 50' and was constructed in 1860. At one point a section of the barn was rebuilt. We are trying to find records and information as to when that may have been rebuilt.

When we bought the property one of the large 12x14 doors had already fallen off. With no plans to ever need doors that large we decided to remove the other large door, build a wall and add a smaller entry door to access the basketball court.
Farmhouse Renovation- We add a second wood stove.
Переглядів 109Рік тому
We quickly realized old houses are a lot of things. One of these things is....DRAFTY!. We purchased a large wood stove to assist with our electric and natural gas bills. The heat a wood stove puts off along with the ambiance it creates is worth it all.
Century Heating FW3500 Wood Stove

The one great thing about the farmhouse is its multiple heat sources. We have natural gas forced air on the second floor and electric min split heat/ac on the first floor. To save on electric we had two wood stoves installed in the house. The large one should put out enough heat for the entire 2,700 sq. ft. house.

"This house came with a sweet boat." Love it. What a great project. My wife and I purchased an old farm in 2002. It was built in 1841. I couldn't justify salvaging the barn as the previous owners let it decay (roof leaked and took out two of the corners). We spent 4 years of our lives making it our home. 4 years of life and money.
