Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach to process improvement that aims to eliminate defects and improve the quality of products and services.
The core principle of Six Sigma is to identify and eliminate the root causes of defects and variations in processes, thereby improving the consistency and quality of outputs. This is achieved through a structured methodology, usually following a sequence of steps known as DMAIC or DMADV:
1. DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control):
- Define: Define the problem, goals, and objectives of the improvement project.
- Measure: Measure and collect data about the current process to identify performance issues and areas for improvement.
- Analyze: Analyze the data to identify the root causes of defects and variations in the process.
- Improve: Implement solutions and changes to address the identified issues and improve the process.
- Control: Establish control measures to ensure that the improved process remains stable and continues to meet desired quality levels.
2. DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, Verify):
- DMADV is a variant of Six Sigma used for designing new processes, products, or services. It focuses on ensuring that new processes are developed with high quality and minimal defects from the start.
Six Sigma employs various statistical tools and techniques to analyze data, identify areas for improvement, and measure the success of the improvement efforts. The goal of Six Sigma is to achieve a process capability of Six Sigma level, meaning that the process produces only 3.4 defects per million opportunities.
The methodology also includes the use of roles and certifications, such as Green Belt, Black Belt, and Master Black Belt, to designate individuals with varying levels of expertise in Six Sigma techniques and tools.
Overall, Six Sigma is a powerful quality management approach that can lead to significant improvements in operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and bottom-line results for organizations that adopt and implement its principles effectively.

Thank a lot for share!
Thx a ton! You're very welcome!
Just passed D720 at WGU 10 min ago because of your videos being a big help breaking it down into simple bite size concepts, can’t thank you enough!
Great to hear, Emily! I'm glad the videos were helpful.
I watched your videos for two weeks straight & was able to pass the OA just 10 minutes ago.
I was sweating buckets but calmed myself down enough to remember a large portion of the concepts you graciously taught and shared in these videos.
Glad to hear you passed, Jayvee!...even if it cost you a little sweat (lol). Good luck in your program.
This helps so much - Thank you!
Glad it helped!
We Sigmas are rising! Let us sigma ohio skibidi toilet rise!
Ha!
Boo thang causing issues LOL
