I loved the joy on your face while you describe the books.
Jessie I love hearing you gush about books! 💜 it makes me so excited to read whilst also being really calming
I too stand with you with FatF! I still need to read BearTown!! Glad to see you back in front of the books!!!
Your enthusiasm while talking about your favorites always gets me! I just know I can trust you and your reading taste, I never leave your videos disappointed! Need to get to John Gywnne books ASAP, you always talk so many good things about them 😊 The way you sold City of Stairs? Straight to the Amazon reading wishlist 🤣
Aww thank you so much!!!! And yayyyy I hope you love city of stairs as much as I did!
I'm glad someone feels the same way about Carrie. It captivated me so much, and the way its told made me feel like it was a real event I was reading about. Its SO compelling and underrated!! 🥰
You're so fun! I'm glad all of these books brought you this much joy
I'm glad you enjoyed the Faithful and the Fallen so much! I read the first 3 and it was too action packed/plot driven for me but I'm happy it worked for you 🔥 Black Sun is on my TBR, I'm very intrigued by the setting.
City of Stairs is fantastic! I just finished my reread of this, I’m jumping into City of Blades next month! And I’m very glad you enjoyed Carrie! It’s in my top 10 King books of all time. I’ll be interested to see if you try anymore of King’s books!
Black Sun is near the top of my list too! It was SO fantastic! I am stoked for the sequel
I felt the same exact way about the Faithful and the Fallen!! I just absolutely fell in love with the characters and those last 3 books just flew by! I think our tastes align extremely well, so I will have to try out City of Stairs and Black Sun!
I hope you enjoy them as much as I did if you get around to them!
I was on the fence about Black Sun but I think you’ve made me want to pick it up!
Thanks for sharing Jess❤️
Jessie! Hope you and your family are well. I also loved TFaTF, especially Ruin. Yay for Backman! I haven’t gotten to Anxious People yet, but I’m looking forward to it.
I've got Malice on my list. I can't wait to get to it. I added some of your other favorites to my extended TBR list... thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching! 😄
Always love to see The Faithful and the Fallen :). I'm really looking forward to reading Carrie soon, and I'm actually gradually reading Atomic Habits right now! So helpful. An awesome bunch of books!
Will
So glad to hear you’re enjoying Atomic Habits! Hope you love Carrie as much as I did!
Here's my favorite books of this year so far
In the ravenous dark
Best served cold
A little hatred
The trouble with peace
Red country
The wastelands
Wizard and glass
Black sun
Written in the stars
Crescent city
Cinderella is dead
Gilded ones
Year is happier than book titles, I hope!
You made me want to read City of Girls. I've been putting this on my TBR pile for so long. My best book this year so far is Nevermoor series 💖
I actually started my second read of Faithful and The Fallen this week, I’ll take my time with it this time, but it’s so good, I’m glad you loved it as well.
The multi-generations in Homegoing reminds me of the multi-generations in Pachinko. Where the plot is just following consequences of relatives over time.
I also love Carrie on audiobook format! Totally agree with eveeything you said about it.
First Law didn't make the list 🤧
you have that awesome edition of King! I've been eyeing it for forever...also been meaning to read Carrie for forever 😂
I can definitely see Abercrombie eventually making this list! Maybe his new trilogy? 🤔
So glad to see you posting! These are some great picks. I did notice that there was something scraping against your mic just to let you know 😊💕
Yes I noticed while editing 😩 sorry about that!
Hi Jessie!
Also read City of girls and Homegoing this year and loved them. Atomic Habits and City of stairs are on my radar. Thanks for your recommendations 😙
I’m so glad you enjoyed both of those!! 😄💕
Those are great reads so far.
I really need to get to TFatF! It sounds amazing! I agree, the Divine Cities trilogy is definitely a new favorite for me as well!
Anxious People super surprised me when I read it and absolutely loved it.
Right now False Witness by Karin Slaughter is definitely one of my faves. I read it just the other week and want to read it again already
I love Black Sun so much! Glad you loved it too!
Jessie!! Such a great video as always. You do such a great job!
Btw, we are legit neighbors!! We move to H next week!
My favorites this year are Ruin and Beartown. Ruin made me tear up and Beartown made me cry a dozen times.
Yessss two of my favorites of all time!
My Best Friend’s Exorcism is soooooo good and Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires. Grady Hendrix is fire in general, though I am hearing lower ratings and thoughts on his newest. I’m saving it for September/October
Back to filming in front of the library i see 😍🤩
We are always looking for bookish content ! Happy Bookish Wednesday Friends
Great video 🎬📖😊
Atomic Habits is high on my non-fiction list. And City of Stairs and Black Sun are at the top (I think) of my fantasy TBR. I just read Gideon the Ninth and I was really impressed with it!
I really enjoyed The Atomic Habits also. It was so helpful thinking of small habits that lead to bigger ones instead of the big changes that a lot of self help usually do.
I love Yaa Gyasi. Transcendent Kingdom is so well written as well by her. Great recommendations!!
I still need to read that one!!! Definitely high on my priority list!
I just finished Ruin last week (which was a fitting title because it RUINED me, I was sobbing at the end), and I’m a little more than halfway through Wrath. This series is absolutely phenomenal. I don’t want it to end! I’m excited that you loved City of Stairs as it’s next on my TBR!
If you liked Homegoing you’ll also like Pachinko. It also follows multiple generations over a long period of time. Great video btw, thank you for sharing x 💗
Ahh I’ve actually read Pachinko a long time ago and wasn’t a fan because it was just sooooo sad 😞😞😞 but it was beautifully written and very powerful for sure!
Yaaaaayyy City of Girls 🥳🥳🥳🥳
I re-read it recently and I kind of already want to read it again 😆
Omg yes totally want to reread it soon! So so good!
I just started the Faithful and the Fallen Series last month. I enjoyed the first one. I really need to continue on with City of Stairs series. I have only ever read the first one.
Yes!!!! I loved My Best Friend's Exorcism. So fun!
I need to read more Fredrik Backman.
My Best Friend’s Exorcism was so awesome!!!
Yay city of stairs. Following the same family over different generations is a very cool and unique idea
Just bought atomic habits and digital minimalism after watching this. These sound like my kinda reads!! Thank you!
Keep safe x
I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
Anxious People was my favorite book of 2020 - I loved it so so much. I also really enjoyed Digital Minimalism and Atomic Habits - I think about lessons from those books a lot. 📚
You are the Ted Lasso of BookTube, just bringing goodness and positivity whenever you pop up in our feeds.
Omg this may be my favorite comment ever 🥺💕 I love Ted lasso so much!!!
I definitely want to try Anxious People! The best book I read this year was Heartless by Marissa Meyer. 😊
Read The Fallen by Lauren Kate and The Sky Fall series by Shannon Messenger you'll love them, ones about fallen angels and the other is about elemental wind beings. Both have angst filled love triangle romances and good vs evil tropes typical of YA but both have a very adult essence too them and written by the creative hands of two different female authors who haven't gotten enough recognition over the years. I'd argue they tell even better stories than Stefanie Meyer. Both have great lore and world building woven into contemporary stories. I got into the fallen series after watching the movie I just wanted more... oddly enough the protagonists of fallen is torment in a similar way like carrie but doesn't lash out on purpose.
I've read Mistborn this year, and the series took my top fav of the years 😂 I also love Digital Minimalism, and I also apply those lessons in everyday life.😊 I was gonna ask, should I read City of Stairs before Foundryside or vice versa?
Ahh Mistborn is sooo good! I would read City of Stairs first because the Founders trilogy still isn’t complete and we don’t know when the third book is coming out yet 😩
@@JessieMaeBooks Aw thank you 🤩 I'll read City of Stairs first then!! can't wait ☺️
CITY OF GIRLS is the first book on my September tbr. I am so excited for that one!
The best books I have read this year were THE BEAR & THE NIGHTINGALE + THE GIRL IN THE TOWER (book 1 and 2 in the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden) and THE SHADOW OF THE GODS by John Gwynne.
Yayyy I hope you love it as much as I did!!
Ahh I LOVEE the Winternight trilogy so much!!! 💕💕
I have Homegoing and I am hoping it will be a better experience with a generational novel than Pachinko was 😂
The best book I’ve read this year is Kindred by Octavia Butler.
I personally loveddd Homegoing so much more so I hope you love it too!!
Also, the best books I’ve read this year are Daisy Jones and the Six, Imaginary Friend and Rhythm of War!
IMAGINARY FRIEND!!! ❤️❤️
My favourite books this year so far would probably be the A Darker Shade of Magic trilogy by V.E Schwab and These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong. 😀📕 Also, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a ya sci-fi because it's been a while since I last read one and don't really know where to start?
I love A Thousand Pieces of You, Illuminae, The Knife of Never Letting Go, and Cinder for YA sci-fi!
@Jessie Mae thank you! I've heard of The Knife of Never Letting Go and considered picking it up but never did. Cinder also sounds very familiar and I'll definitely pick up the rest too! ❤️
I can't pick one favorite book, so here's my top 5:
Marilia, the Warlord by Morgan Cole
The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid
Odin's Child by Siri Pettersen
The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao (ARC)
I’m finishing Black Sun tonight. Loving it so far. Curious about how it will end.
Hopefully you continue to love it even after the ending haha!
Great Video Jessie And the best book I’ve read is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and I can’t wait to read his other books in the cemetery of lost books series 📚 Have you ever read The Shadow of the Wind Jessie? I really think you would enjoy it Have a Wonderful Day tomorrow Take Care Love Your Channel ❤️📚❤️😊
I haven’t read that one yet but I’ve heard the most amazing things and definitely need to get to it!!!
@@JessieMaeBooks Ok Jessie and once you do there’s three other books to go along with the Shadow of the Wind 📚 The titles are: Book 2 The Angel’s Game Book 3 The Prisoner of Heaven & Book 4 The Labyrinth of The Spirits Have a Wonderful Day Jessie 🙂
Oh gosh.. I wasn't that big of a fan of City of Girls! I really enjoyed it up until Vivian went home after the, uh... drama. It was really entertaining prior to that but the rest was kind of blah. Vivian was kind of a... not great person. She was decent at times and true to herself, which is great... But overall, she was just selfish and spoiled. I really don't understand her appeal. I loved parts but didn't love it so much by the end, lol.
when r u reading Gutter Prayer...just asking 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Probably not for a while since I’m really trying to finish series before starting new ones! 😄
Is Shelf Space still going on?
It is! Allen from The Library of Allenxandria took it over when I had my baby 😄
@@JessieMaeBooks congratulations btw! Motherhood is a blessing!
Anxious people sounds alot like the movie the ref.
I started the Expanse series this year and have been loving it. I also loved A Conjuring of Light by VE Schwab so much
Oooh yes a conjuring of light was so good!
My best book of the year is Black Sun - what a powerful read! I also read and enjoyed Anxious People.
Yay for more Black Sun love!! Sooooo good!!
