I've been lifting consistently and eating right for about 6 years. Last summer I got diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis/pancolitis at 28 years old. I was flaring hard and lost 16 kg of mostly muscle in a few weeks. It sucked but I accepted my situation and focused on getting better. After struggling to find the right meds I'm now doing good on infliximab and balsalazide. I've since gained back all of my muscle and I'm stronger now than I was before I got sick. It's crazy how quick you bounce back after losing everything. Lifting was always a huge part of my life but now it really has become a way to prove to myself and the world that I thrive despite this awful disease.

Thanks so much for sharing your story! Damn 16kg is so much muscle lost, that must’ve been so frustrating. But for real, getting a disease such as this one really gives you perspective. Once you get back to a good stage, the motivation is so high to be the best version of yourself and never take it for granted. Best of luck with your journey! Sounds like you’re on a really good path with your meds

great video mate. definitely align with your thoughts on it all. i’ve spent 3+ years in the gym training hard and eating well but never able to stomach supps and get enoigh calories in to be “jacked”. recently after my diagnosis it’s given me a lot of clarity and i’ve been shifting my energy and focus more onto the running/triathlon side as that’s what i find my body is better suited torwards. cheers again for the video ben !

Thanks Dom! It’s such a hard thing to juggle and especially when people don’t know about the condition it can be extremely frustrating when people don’t understand why you’re not making progress. Yeha man that’s awesome!! So glad you’re into running too, I’ve found my body is thanking me for it and the pressure of wanting to look swole has gone away

My son (21)is currently going through checks for this disease. We waited so long for colonoscopy but finally had it last week. There are ulcers on his large intestine and also on the small one. They took biopsies so we are now in waiting process to see if it's ulcerative colitis or Crohn's. . It's nerve wracking. He needs MRI scan as well to investigate bowel.. I feel so bad for him. I am trying to stay positive by thinking that the medical team reassured me it's not cancer. That's what I was dreading so much. When I hear you talking about your weight and how you gained it, I get hope for my son. Keep well!

It is very useful for me, a parent of a boy with Crohn's, to hear your story, to see you well, hoping that my boy will go on the same path. Three months ago when symptoms appeared my world collapsed, I have been devasted and now I need to put myself toghether and go on. Your videous help me a lot in this respect. My son got some weight, probably part due to steroids, part due to Modulen milk recommended by doctors. I'm a little bit more confident that we will find a way to live with that and I will see my son growing adult. Thank you!

I appreciate your honesty in presenting your Crohn's disease journey. Many are selling programs of natural IBD healing. We know that medicine is mandatory, while diet, lifestyle, and environmental factors can help. Finding and affording the proper medication is still a problem.

Thanks so much! Couldn’t agree more, I’ve seen a few of those videos and it always makes me nervous when people suggest the natural way as it’s not always best for a lot of people with severe symptoms. And agreed especially in developing countries having access to these drugs is the biggest problem sadly

Another youtuber with Crohn's said he doesn't eat food that mechanically irritate the gut. For example nuts. Do you have experience with whether this is tolerable?
I don't know if I have Crohn's, but I have low tolerance off gluten and fructose ..and I am unsure about nuts.
I enjoy your videos, they are so informativ!

Thanks for these videos. I am still waiting for my results after my colonoscopy, but it is a foregone conclusion what I have due to fam history, other tests, etc. Do you know how long it takes to get the tests back and for them to put me on treatment? Too many painful days.

Hello friends, I have a question about the precautions that must be taken when taking Imuran. I read in the drug leaflet that taking the drug requires gloves, then sterilizing the hands, isolating the toilet from the rest of the family members, and isolating the laundry as well. Is this true? I hope that someone with experience will inform us.

If you don't mind me asking, are you taking any medication from the hospital? I was told that I need to take Humira but I also heard all the side effects that it could cause. Would it be better to just eat healthier and heal it on my own or should I take the Humira pen that the doctors are recommending me to take? Also its super expensive so if I ever need to quit taking it, wouldn't my pain come back even stronger. Its all too much
