Your idea to sew the 2x4 and 2x6on to the long strip is a definite improvement from cutting and then sewing those 2.5 inch squares individually. Much less fiddly than dealing with all those small squares. Nicely designed scrappy by the way.
I must just say I love how you say I will need 144-2 and half inch squares. You can say that with such a straight face. Teasing you. lol. That’s the best part. Cutting it out. ❤❤
Floyd is a remarkable person. I feel very proud to have had an opportunity for a peek into his life and way of living. I suffer with mental health issues and, like Floyd, if I keep my hands busy with crafting I'm in my element. Thank you for sharing
Ive been sewing for many years and only recently started my journey into quilting. Last summer, I started a quilt like this , but I stopped and put it away because.... I thought I was crazy and I was doing it wrong. I'm not crazy, just disorganized. Thanks for organizing my thoughts again.
I love that your scraps are ironed! I see lots of people just sewing in ironed scraps together, (drives me crazy)🤷🏻♀️ Tip: you know that with your aququilt… after you have cut all your strips, you can just take them and turn them crosswise of the cutting blades and send them through again and… WA-LA!! You have tons of 2 1/2” squares! Easy-Peasy!
The main thing I have always disliked about scrappy quilts is that usually the block pattern gets lost in all the different fabrics, but I really like how this comes together and you can still see the block pattern. Plus you can do it with scraps or a jelly roll!
What a great tutorial. Love this design. Thanks so much for sharing. Easy to follow your directions. So glad your channel popped up on my feed. I think a navy blue binding would look awesome. Have a terrific weekend. Looking forward to your future videos.
You are a ball of energy!!! I love your approach and encouragement. This quilt is so doable and I’ll soon have enough scraps to make it. I’m a newbie but I’m sure scraps will accumulate fast. My granddaughter will love this. I’ll be searching for your “jars” quilt I see on your wall too. Thanks for the quick chain piecing ideas.
What a great idea...such a unique quilt in the end. I love your idea and will be getting rid of some of my scraps this way this year...thank you for sharing your talents with us...
I love how you did that block! Sewing your strips onto that long 2 1/2" of white fabric strip instead of sewing 2 1/2" square block! I think that is quicker, and it looks like you had just a little waste! Great teacher as well.
I love this quilt idea. Great way to use up scrap fabric strips. I have a bunch of 2 1/2 strips of fabrics in my scrap bin. Some are already cut into 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches. Plus I have a jelly roll of white fabric. I just need to cut the 6 1/2 strips and put them into piles of lights and darks. Thanks for another great tutorial!!!
Bravo Jamie!!!You are such a good teacher ! I love watching how all the steps come together! And happy to use those piles of scraps!! So cute! Have fun settling in you rnew studio/ work space!!
Thanks for the great design. It’s beautiful! I have a pile of 2.5x6.5 patterned pieces that I’ve looked at, touched, set aside and pulled out again and again trying to figure out a design. This is it! Just need to cut some 4.5 and get to sewing.❤️
Ooohhh, I like that. Great pattern for all those scraps I have. BTW, love Cooper! ❤❤❤ I had a corgi too, but yours is much more patient than mine ever was.
I’m watching this again as I fully intend to make it to use up my scrap pile. I think I will try cutting while the strip and scraps are still folded. I can’t wait to get started!
You really did a great job on this quilt top! The colors work well together and the pattern looks pretty! I think the way you put your blocks together was the most efficient! Super tutorial!
first off, I'm hooked just to see your adorable corgi, (I'm from the UK and used to own here) but that said I like this quilt and the way you made it. Yes I'd put a solid border and binding on it too! good job!!
It would help me if you showed the block in the beginning. Reciting sizes over and over without placement made my head spin. I guess I'm more a visual person. I think I have enough materials to make this and think it would be cute.
I love the sewing layout and the pattern of the quilt blocks This is definitely on my list of have to make! I think sewing the strips this way is much faster
Beautiful block and a great idea. Love your fabrics, as always. It is another very controlled scrappy, not messy looking! Which I love! Thanks for sharing.
Great scrappy quilt. I how ever think I would cut the 2 1/2 squares. I have a stripology ruler . Very short time to cut them out. Even without the ruler I would do the squares. Then chain piece. But will have no trimming them apart as with the white WOF way.
Amazing. Was confused at the start & wondering why the need to sew plain long strips with the rectangular cut fabrics. After, putting the pcs in a block. Was amazed how pretty & simple it was. I'm learning & looking out for easy patchwork. Thanks from Singapore 🇸🇬
just joined your site----enjoyed watching your process, and like the outcome very much......i have too many scraps, thank your for giving me an idea of how to use them......will continue to follow your videos.

Do you avoid laying the units onto the strip where the fold in the strip comes? Does the fold press out ok?

A great idea for a quick quilt for all those left over bits of 2.5” strip cutoffs! Thank you so much!

I think if something works for you, it's not wrong! 😊
You’ve inspired me to get rid of all my scraps with this beautiful design!!!
The corgi loaf was an adorable distraction. I had to keep rewinding to catch the measurements. I was too busy looking at your pup 😂😂
I love that your scraps are ironed! I see lots of people just sewing in ironed scraps together, (drives me crazy)🤷🏻♀️

Thank you and you’re welcome 😊
Beautiful quilt
I really enjoyed this, and I love your methodology. It was nice to see the pieces as you see them instead of having to mentally flip it. Beautiful!
I would also like to see this sewn in groups of 4 with all the white in the center.
I’m watching this again as I fully intend to make it to use up my scrap pile. I think I will try cutting while the strip and scraps are still folded. I can’t wait to get started!
