- Depending on where you're at in your playing journey, muting might be one of those things you hardly think about anymore.
All the more reason to put your muting technique under the microscope and make sure you've got it down! In today's lesson, we do just that.

To me, fret hand muting is what separates the amateurs from the pros.
Mastering fret hand muting means you always play the notes you intend to and lets you focus your strumming hand on dynamics.
Am going back through these lessons a second time to make sure that the content is sinking in. It definitely is a lot more clear coming through a second time
One thing to note on moving the location of the palm mute - you can't venture too far forward because you are actually changing the tuning of the string when you move off the point where the string meets the saddles. You can get away with a little forward, but not too much or you will be playing the wrong notes.
Muting is so important with both hands! And palm and fingers on your picking hand.
Some I learned from lessons, some from friends, and some i figured out on my own.
But yeah it’s important
You don’t always need to use muting, but most of the time it matters
I did this lesson on my strat . I was able to get fretting hand parts easily. The picking hand not so much. I think the trem bridge made it tricky for me. Maybe I'll try one of my lp's & see if it works out. Thanks for the lesson .

Thanks--I saw the Babicz name and thought it was on the pickup, but it's on the bridge plate. Now I see SD in small print on the pickup.@@OnwardAndEdward
