    Just found this and trying to watch as many videos as time allows. As someone coming back to guitar after a 30 year break it’s really refreshing and super practical. Don’t listen to the “likers” (or haters of course) just do your thing.

    The Max Cooper video was kind of mesmerizing. Not a big fan of electronic music , but the geometry of all those visual patterns seem to blend perfectly with the sound. Thanks for posting

    Some time, could you talk about palm muting when finger picking, like with Travis picking? When I practice that, I feel a lot of tension in my hand and arm. Maybe that's normal, but I suspect I'm doing something wrong. I'm used to a classical position for finger picking, which has little tension and uses all the fingers except the pinky. Muted fingerpicking is a strain especially when I try to include my ring finger. Thanks for the great videos. And, hey, keep on breathing and swallowing. To be honest, I never noticed either and they seem kind o' necessary.

    One difficulty I have with "palm" muting is the upstroke. I find the downstroke pretty easy, but with the edge of my hand on the bridge, I find it difficult to rotate the pick into the position it would normally be in when doing an upstroke (with the tip of the pick angled toward the floor). It's not a problem if I'm strumming with my fingers of course.

    Dude, that comment at 10:24... damn! That is just a layer cake of very specific and personal gripes. "I find your content acceptable, but I object to your speech paternities and the way you refuse to consciously regulate your basic physical functions. Sir." It should be set to music, really. Damn. Anyway, as always, sterling content-super helpful-if you can somehow bring yourself to see past the fact that you refuse to shave the underside of your left wrist like a civilized person.

    Hi I'm a beginner and I'm really struggling to palm mute due to a shoulder injury, could I just use the other method by muting using my left hand on the fret/strings? Really appreciate any help or advice please? Thanks 🙂

    In the martial arts that part of the hand is associated with the shuto uchi (knife hand strike). So I propose the term "shuto muting". 😎

    • @ef2b
      @ef2b 6 місяців тому +1

      I'm a beginner at this, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me, but you can explore where the pick is. Imagine the heel of your hand is glued to the guitar. You can try to reach far away with the pick, sort of reaching with your thumb and index finger, or you can try to pull the pick in close, by pinching in with the thumb and index finger. Now ignore what I said about not moving the heel of your hand. As you explore all the stuff you've been exploring for hand position, play with that reaching / pinching thing,. I find that pinching in as I go towards the upper strings helps. Have no idea why. And, I'm just a beginner at muting, so maybe this is all stupid.

    • @seandaniel23
      @seandaniel23  3 місяці тому +1

      Hmm that’s interesting. I wonder if you’re maybe moving the bridge or shifting the strings. I’d experiment with that angle your palm is coming down on it and see if that helps with the tuning. Could be something going on with the guitar
