If it helps put your mind at ease I actually made a small mistake. Yes I was 15 when the game was revealed, but had turned 16 when the game released some months later. Sorry about that! 😅

i still remember playing it, not as a kid though lol time flies. My childhood was mostly SNES, some MMO like WoW (I still remember it came out and it was new lol). CoD, HoN, Dota, etc lol

When I was 13, I religiously looked at the Smash Dojo for Brawl info every day after I found out Sonic was going to be in Smash. It was my come to Jesus moment that made me realize Sonic was my absolute favorite video game franchise. I was so excited, my mom took me to the midnight release and drove me home. Back then, not everything was always leaked and even though I bought the official strategy guide, I had no idea how to unlock Sonic except for completing Subspace. So I literally got home, played the campaign all night and finished the Tabuu fight to unlock him. I think I got him at 7AM. I still look back so fondly on that night
It’s hard to believe the Switch is already someone’s childhood memories. The older you get the faster time seems to fly by.

One of my most enduring "up all night" gaming memories is splitscreen multiplayer Timesplitters 2 on GameCube. Ice Station, Rockets, Frantic, max bots. Absolute carnage, and so so much fun ❤
From the title I thought it would be about Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requium.
Also, I wish Felix would stream again. I want to see someone play through more classic titles for the first time.
I still hope they dust that one off at some point and bring it to Switch. It was great.
Best advice for elden ring and any souls game, for that matter, is to level up vigor until you feel like you can take at least 3 hits in area you are in, and, the other stats, level them up to get the stat requirements, because the damage is increased way more by upgrading the weapons than from having higher levels of the affinity stats
This will date me. My first all night game was Morrowind. I heard about it on Toonami and walked to a local rental store to try it over the weekend. I was maybe 12 or 13. I was completely sucked into it and didn't realize how much time had passed till the sun came up.
TOTK kept me up late before two separate grad school graduation ceremonies, lol. the first time was the night before launch- I couldn't sleep at all from excitement over totk finally, finally launching the next morning *and* a new album from one of my favorite bands of all time dropping the same day. My mind was racing all night, and then it became nerves about how awful I was going to feel the next day at the master degree conference...
which happened *again* later in the month when I was doing the Gerudo arc and I just could NOT stop during the lightning temple, even though my Real graduation was the next morning, early. Once i finally had beaten the boss (with a lot of early game cheese and stupid determination, mind you) the feeling of playing totk was so burned into my brain that I just tossed and turned and was haunted by vaguely totk-engine dreams and was crafting and flying and stuff all night... good times.
This happened to me 4 years ago with the Resident Evil 3 Remake release. My brother bought it and lend it to me after a week, I started at 10pm and started progressing and progressing until it was 3am, I checked the clock and decided to go all in, single sitting, done!

Back in 1998 I recall a very astute friend of mine saying to his then wife..' do you think I've got an issue?' He was playing The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time until 1 am . A family man with many responsibilities studying law . I'm glad he shared that with me as it diminished the addiction I had with these various games at the time. However I must emplore to so many people that this is by far a much healthier indulgence than reality television at the time or middling entertainment in it's many hideous guises at that time. In fact one could argue that these games made you a better thinker or perhaps more intelligent rather than just these games fooling you to believe your smarter than you really are. Some of these games are an absolute work of art. Thank goodness for modernity I say!!!
I love it when there are certain video games that get you back into gaming at certain points in your life. You can just look back into time that way. For me it was the original smb on the NES. Then FF2 on the SNES. Then Ocarina on the N64. Then Rogue Squadron 2 on the GC. The og xenoblade chronicles on the Wii. Botw on the Wii U. And now Totk on the Switch.
Unicorn Overlord, Breath of the Wild, Blaster Master 0, Skyrim, Super Mario Odyssey, Oxenfree... a bit older: Etrian 4, Etrian 1 Untold, Silent Hill 2, 3, and 4... older still: Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9, Wild Arms 1 & 2, original PC Doom... even further back: Zelda: Ocarina and Majora's Mask, Pokémon Red... before that: Metroid, Super Metroid, Tetris... one more: Combat on Atari 2600 (we had gotten that for X-mas and played for a bit, we did open gifts at midnight and not X-mas "sun-is-out" morning, I was around 5-6 years of age). I should probably include Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XI, and a few other MMO's, but I'll stop here.🙂

I tried finishing the final boss in Xenoblade Chronicles around midnight cutting a long story short it didn't end in my favor. The games that always get me is the Atelier Franchise I can be sitting at the cauldron for hours without realizing how much time has passed. Also not going to lie I feel old watching this I was about 15 when Fable 2 and Assassin's Creed II came out, being a teenager during the 360 era was kind of sick now that I think about it.
The past 3 weeks, I'm staying up far too late. I decided to *casually* pop back into BOTW to look for more Koroks... and it unintentionally turned into me spending 2 weeks hardcore going after 100%-ing the game. Then I launched right into TOTK the past week... also staying up far too late.
One game that kept me up past my bedtime was Pokémon let’s go Pikachu honestly I absolutely adored that game oh my God, I would play every day as soon as I got back maybe from work or from visiting friends or family or whatever I constantly play that because of the nostalgia, we have the anime And it was my first time ever playing a Pokémon game and I think it was the right one for me to try and I absolutely loved it. Another game that kept me up past my bedtime probably a game that not everybody cares for and that’s another code recollection I just loved the story And Ashley finds out about her father who she thought was dead but let’s just say it had more twists and turns and I couldn’t put it down until I beat it.
It was a different time back when Pokémon Let's GO Pikachu was released. These moments can't be relived again.. only memories remain.

Yep. RDR2 gave me sleep deprivation for about 2 months. Best game of all time. Also pretty much every Zelda game, Mario Odyssey, and Dragonquest Builders 2. I think I also played about 100 hours of Assassins Creed Odyssey, Skyrim, Witcher 3, and God of War the first week they each came out.
Are you me? Glad you also mentioned DQB2. I also spent a lot . . a lot of time playing football manager series and civilizatiion.
Honestly, none of the games you mentioned clicked with me particularly, but honestly one of the games that got me hooked in recent years is Sonic Frontiers, idk shat it is but I keep coming back to it and I can't put down the controller, I've already 100%ed thrice and wanna start another 100% run.
Another game I always go back to and can't seem to stop playing is Super Mario 64... idk what it is about 64 I just enjoy it.

a game that surprised me completely was unicorn overloard. i didnt get alot sleep for 5 days straight. just playing the game.
i still think that totk is so a huge improvement over botw. no one can change my mind about that.
i know there is people who like botw more, but that is just odd to me. you have the sky and the underworld on top of the normal hyrule.
the only bad thing about totk was the huge grind for matierals to upgrade all amory you get. because of this i duped alot of items.
I totally agree with you on Unicorn Overlord. That game is addicting. It's got Civilization quality of "Just one more turn", "just one more thing" and then it's two to three hours later...
I got to the end game battle and I just didn't want to do it because I didn't want, I don't know, the experience to end. I was still having fun with the game and didn't want it to end, but there it was... (even though I was like 80-90 hours into the game, which usually at this point I'm more then done with a game and ready to move on).
This game is honestly one of the best games I've played in decades and an instant classic.

I never have a problem playing games too late because I'm old and when it's time to sleep I can't stop it, but I do have a flexible work start time and sometimes have a problem stopping a game and get ready for work and lose track of time.
Final Fantasy XII, the original version (NOT the Zodiac Job whatever its called remaster). Spent all night beating Yiazmat, the post-game superboss.
Also, Super Ghouls and Ghosts. That needs no explanation.

As an adult, I have a hard time playing video games for long periods of time. The only exceptions have been Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom and the Advance Wars games (favorite series). I can play those games for hours without even trying.
Good idea for a video. I also really appreciate how the Western music from WarioWare: Move It! was used when you talked about Red Dead Redemption 2!
I can’t sleep more than 2-3 hours every night because of extreme insomnia. That was what made me a gamer. 7 consoles because I go crazy on Animal Crossing at Nights. But I hope I get more sleep soon or else I die from these. People use to not sleep because of gaming but I got to gaming because I couldn’t sleep.
The Persona and Xenoblade series for sure kept me up all night, as well as Mario Odyssey and Tears of the Kingdom but the biggest outlier was definitely staying up all night to play Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2's story mode until 6 AM on a school night, needless to say I was zombified all day the next day 😂

Red dead 2 is probably my favorite game ever but the first couple hours of the game were a drag lol
Baldur's gate 3 has kept me up. Even when I was trying to sleep I was thinking about strategies to beat Raphael 😅
for me, there are too many, but I can clearly remember I struggled so much to put down grandia 2 back in the dreamcast, man I was sleepless for days for this game, another I can remember is persona 5, it even made me forget I had to go to work haha

When i was furloughed during covid i played these games all day and all night. Didn't know what time or day it was. Good thing it didn't matter and good thing I had these great games!
I have to say that all games I play keep me up at night considering I work nights and sleep in the afternoon.

While I won't say it made me lose sleep, I replayed Portal 1 on Switch and the atmosphere that game has was more chilling than I remember, especially once you explored the outer rooms

I'm not the type of person who can sit down and do anything for more than a few hours even if it's something that I love as much as video games but the last game to get me to stay up past my bedtime or just play in 3+ hour sessions was Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

I'm surprised that you didn't mention 'No Man's Sky' on the Switch. It has improved out of sight since its initial release in 2016 and I just found the hours flying by playing it. Until I realised what time it was and reluctantly took my self off to bed.

Tears of the kingdom, after finishing and completing it 6 months ago, after i played alot of games the past months, i came back to it to start again last night days, started 9pm, lo and behold after my last bathroom break its almost 5am LOL!
Two games I got hooked on very recently (and regularly played until the wee hours) was Like A Dragon and Dead Island 2.

I recently picked up The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, and the first case drags and drags and drags. It's really put me off from going to the second one.
For me a game I got super into to an unhealthy amount was Xenoblade Chronicles X. I played according to the wii u 20 hours straight. I forgot to sleep and pee because I was doing so much in it. I did stretch without stopping to play though
Xenoblade X was just so great.
I really hope they port it on Switch or it's successor.

Breath of the Wild is better than TOTK and I own n have played a big chunk in both of them. TOTK is basically BOTW but little more enemies, little more abilities, differentish Final Boss, all packaged for $30 more🙄🙄
Yup. I love love love Botw. And too be honest, Totk felt like an over glorified dlc. I was so disappointed. Oh well. On to the next Zelda game on Switch 2. Patiently waiting before I get too old lol!
