HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAA
yo who thinks this is badass?
I better buy all their album so that Matt can get a new shirt.
haha yeah i was thinking the exact same thing.
They're wearing the Kanye collection
Haha, he wears the same shirt in TSATS video, in the scenes where he plays prisoner (I think?)
exactly dude
Same shirt in Built to fall
Corey Beaulieu is one of the most underrated Guitarists ever!
underrated backup singer also, he has a brutal voice and the stage presence to back it up
I mean, is he really though? Dude is sick af, but i think everyone knows that. Trivium is legendary. With at least one album on everyones top lists. Ascendency will go down as one of the best metal albums of all time. THE best for a lot of ppl.
@@hankhill5409 His vocals have improved as of late too. Brutal
I love this version more than the studio one because of that scream at 2:55, gives goosebumps
Wish it was a little longer lol same goosebumps tho
Now that I listen to it, and see it, I can see how brutal and painful Matt's old screaming technique was on his throat and voice.
Ryan King But God if it wasn't fucking awesome! It sounds grody and brutal as fuck!
Jedy Zichterman It's a shame we'll never hear it live ever again. To be brutally honest, his new technique sounds very weak.
Ryan King he is definitely starting to regain the intensity, from what I heard from him when I saw Trivium this last November
Today his screams suck so much i can't stand listening to them anymore.
Marcos Nan it sounds *just* the same as it did before
who else is addicted from Matt's screams?
me
Right here bruh
Me. Theyre so unique. Its a real shame he doesnt do it like that anymore :(
Me
I really love these live recordings of their older songs. Sounds way better.
clean af too
doesnt sound better, sounds good though
@@lethalpenguin61 Better quality
Matts screaming has massively improved since.just wow
@@lethalpenguin61 Ehh the screams in the album version are pretty bland. think about it. he basically only used one scream at one pitch. the old albums were still good but these are far better imo
2023 and still enjoying this shit 🔥 !
2024
@@sevenman9672 here in 2024 as well always a banger!!!!
I always get mixed feelings when coming back to older Trivium stuff, this "In Waves" era more specifically. At one point, I'm both sad that Matt blew up his voice by using inproper technique for screaming for so long and happy that he's been able to recover and is being able to do this stuff safely nowadays. But at the same time, man, I miss THESE screams so much. In my opinion, Matt's voice was at its peak during this era: His screams/gutturals were poweful and brutal, while his cleans were almost angel-like. Having David produce their next album already had some influence on Matt's vocals, making his cleans a bit more "theatrical" sounding, in my opinion. And then, a bit later, he blew up his voice, making his voice and technique change completely going forwards. Again, I'm happy that he's recovered and learned proper technique to keep his singing/scream safe, not to mention, his kinda found a totally new voice that fits the newest albums so well. I'm glad we have these live videos recorded so that we can watch them back. Just to be clear: I love the newer albums after Alex stepped in, it's just that, you know, nostalgia is a hell of a bitch, and I always feel nostalgic hearing Matt's In Waves era voice.
facts
So true man!
Matt golden live vocals are history…
I think all fans of trivium ( myself include) we have this mixed emotions about Matt voice . And understand very well what you say. My favorite era is between ascendancy and shogun.
I feel like the old screams sounded best on Shogun. Listening to the whole "In Waves" album, you can start to hear how much "wear and tear" Matt's screaming had on his vocal cords then.
Its truly a shame when such a talented vocalist gets hurt. Especially when its someone who can do great harsh AND clean. Its so damn rare. Heafy, phil lebonte, james clark, matt tuck learned to do both eventually, anders as well. I struggle to think of any more big names, and lebonte is the only one that i dont think has hurt himself yet. That dude is something truly unique though. Singing entire albums in both styles, then layering them over eachother. Cant imagine the studio hours hes put on the mic.
This song is awesome but the chorus is simply amazing
Matthew Bezzina ur dp is perfekt lol
For me it's the break-down... Man I could destroy a LOT of thing listening to this!
@@rogacien666 could someone explain what a breakdown is? in this song is it around 2:25?
@@quinnm.3588 I'd say the break down is about 2:45 to 3:30. The breakdown in a song is the place where the tempo and the vibe feel somewhat different of the rest of the song. It serve as a link to the last part /last chorus... Well, that's what I understand about a breakdown anyway =)
rogacien666 ah i see, thanks!
trivium is soooo tight musically...very sick..
cant stop replaying at 4:04 !!! matts tone is so warrm and rich!
So good, that they rather muted it! Awesome!
I hear you. I know Corey is the lead guitarist but Matt is so good. He puts a lot of himself into the solos. Corey is still good though.
Definitely dude!
Thane Krios Twiddle with some sound settings, i only found out yesterday i've been listening to only half the sound for months. This video made me realise, i thought it was strange that the guitar was muted. And then having no sound when the guitars fade back in for "Down Again" by Chimaira i knew something was wrong for sure. I've a scarlett 6i6, seems i have to click a button that says "PFL" to hear everything, i dunno why it isnt turned on by default. I've months of music to catch up on now! haha
1 word.. gibson
Ascendancy is a masterpiece
Matt screams and sings clean, Corey screams and Paolo sings clean. EPIC COMBINATION! ALL HAIL HEAFY METAL!
Corey is SUCH a better screamer that I ever thought!
Listen to some of the live versions of "Down from the Sky" The way they can blend each others screams/growls live is just amazing. Truly one of todays best. Live and studio.
yea trivium is just bad ass both corey and matt are dope ass screamers coreys is a pretty sick ass scream though he seems to be getting better too over the years.I think with even paolos girly voice lol it all sounds complete though / sounds good all mixed in kinda like the audience would be singing that part.Thats my oppion anyways..
it is his mating call
Love the profile pic
Yea he definitely is a monster and is built for this shit. Fkn Trivium man🤘🏽
still an insane performance 12 years later!
I stand in defiance of your ways.

@@8luntman I dunno if it's wake or ways. 😅😅😅
Dear fans,
Since we have released the Song "The Defiant" on our latest album, we have received several complaints, as well as partly funny jokes about how many of you confuse the titles, thus being not able to recognize, which song is what.
We want to tell you that we too have confused these two songs several times.
To prevent further incidents of involuntary confusion, we have planned to play both songs at shows in a row from now on.
However, we have noticed that these haven't been the only two songs that caused severe confusion amongst our listeners.
Two more songs on the Ascendancy album have also caused confusion because of the similarity of their titles.
We hereby announce that from now on we will conclude our life shows with the 22:21 minutes long song called Declaration about the Departure of the Deceived Defiant.
Ah yes the 4th fret key with same tempo hehe
of your ways* XD
11 years old yet so good
Love Matt's screams
Indeed! His screams are so powerful, they make Satan want to repent! 🤘🎸🔥
Sad that it will never be the same...

they should play this song live again!
i love these live recordings of there older song. makes me like stuff i didnt like before. Matts voice going from whiny teen to grown ass man!!! then Paolo and Corey doing back up vocals is perfection!!
I know the feel man. Prefer these covers at Chapman Studios to some of the original recordings because of how they've all changed. Even Nick's drumming skills help make the songs better in my opinion.
Yeah. sucks that Nick isnt with them anymore. not really feeling the new guys yet :P
know the feel man, Matt Madiro hasn't proved himself yet. Though I'm sure that Trivium wouldn't hire anyone if they weren't good! Haha
For me, trivium was all about Nick, he gave the power Trivium needed, now with Madiro on drums... its a joke, the guy is obviously a tool. Expect to see a new drummer in 3 years ...
I want to give Matt (Madiro) the benefit of the doubt. He's the new guy, and though he might not be as brutal on the drums as Nick (who was amazing) he may still bring some goodness to the band, we just don't know until their next album dude.
Jesus this never gets old. I need more Chapman performances
Their live show has gotten so unbelievably tight. They're one of the few bands that improves every single time I've seen them live.
I love bands where all the members do vocals together! This performance is exceptional and I really love Paolos back-ups in the chorus!
If only Nick played like that live during his time...he was such a beast in studio (As fast as Travis with lots of blast beats) but live...he was such an inconsistent drummer
Olek ACF that's what I loved about him live, he was so raw and you didn't know what to expect.
Preet Gurung and that's what gets you kicked out of a band, when NO ONE knows what to expect. If he was a bass player you could probably let it slide, but when you're the drummer,THE PERSON THAT IS SUPPOSED TO KEEP IT IN TIME,and he can't do that consistently then it's time to go.
Metalhead Lazz I have a lot to learn from him. I think it was the pressure of having to play in front of people that messed things up. I mean, he was just Travis’s drum tech before getting ranked up to drummer. I need more confidence, can someone tell where I can get it from?
@@lt.branwulfram4794 practicing your craft and playing live
@@metalheadlazz 100%. I’m sure Paolo hated playing with him 🤣
Manchester tickets booked! Ascendancy top 2 albums of all time for me!
STILL THE BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG IT'S BEEN 10 YEARS WHAT THE FUCK
they are enjoying it so much
These Chapman performances are simply LEGENDARY!
Man, I love Matt's cleans. He totally thought he sounded bad too, but nope, he sounds frickin amazing. Also LOVING Polo's harmonies in this song
3:13 is THE BEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD
This is probably the one song they perform perfectly live every single time.
3:25 "I will bake you fried chickYONNN"
A lead guitarist that always plays flawless and growls, a godlike drummer, an awesome bassist that sings clean backup vocals perfectly harmonized, a rhythm guitarist that sings clean, gritty and growls, and who also plays epic solos. 4 insane studio albums + Ember to Inferno and 11 singles, and one of the few bands that deliver on stage and live every god damn time, sometimes even better than the originals! Hands down my favorite band of all time. TRIVIUM!
I wonder when I'll find serious people and build a band like they did...
Jesus Lancella Hey man if you live in Georgia I'm down.
Wish I was living there but I live in Stockholm, quite far away I suppose
Jesus Lancella I had the same problem for years. now i found some guys who are really serious and passioned. It can take a long time. Just stick with it and maybe you will achieve! Greetings from Germany :D
Cool, well I hope so :)
The best thing to do is to join musician groups on facebook and post that you seek for members.. i found so many people through this! Just try it! I wish you luck man :D

Almost a decade old, and still awesome. My favourite. Rock on \m/
My favorite song from my favorite Trivium album, thank you gents
ThaT Skin On Teech
The scream Matt gives in 2:56 is just epic!!! Love that scream!
Man ascendancy was so good, the entire album could have been done in this studio.
Wow, I loved both of the solos. There is a reason why Trivium is my favorite metal band! Nice job Matt!
some day i will raise my children to this music
SOOOO good that Matt's screaming again. you's better be coming soundwave again... SOO GOOD last year!!
is one of the best bands in the world with their cries of anger and frustration
A performance desses caras é assombrosa pqp
Matt has been screaming for ever...
Nick and Paolo. South Florida Represent!!!
3:46 < clik for epic moment ever !
2021 y sigo escuchando el set de chapman studios como si fuera la primera vez, es perfecto amo a Trivium es y sera siempre mi banda favorita
Seriously man, I can't get enough of Paolo's background vocals.
Someone should tell Matt to write a song, where they have a duet, or where Paolo would even sing a song alone.
paolo does the bridge on scattering the ashes
mattt just gives a nod at the end like "good job guys" .. me, im freaking out like OMF that was f*cking amazing !!!!!!!!!
Legend has it that the studio was literally flooded with spit by the time Matt Heafy finally left.
i swear this is the best song in the world
man... Matt's vocals developed even more beastly than before as he aged! TRIVIUM FOREVER!!!!
the best baterist of trivium

THIS BAND IS PERFECT THIS DRUMMER AMAZING, THE BASS PLAYER A GENIUS, COREY IN MY OPINION THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER FROM THE WORLD TODAY...
Would be awesome if they re recorded the album "ember to inferno" now since they have all grown and have heavier sounds and vocals :D
i still think ember to inferno sounds heavy as fuck, I think The deceived version is better than the one that's on ascendancy
Agree!
Richard O'Connor I love the Ember to Inferno album. I wish they would play more live from it.
Chapman studios live were real flame back in the days 🤘still rocking to it gladly🤘
One of the first songs I heard of Trivium's and still one of my favorites

Está versión de The deceived es la mejor que existe! 🎵👌🤟
5:04 lol his face😂😂😂😂
Cant stop listening to this.... Trivium 4ever
Probably my favorite on the album. Rain was my #1 on Ascendancy for the longest time until I heard them play this live in 2012.
Damn some of Heafys growls/screams sounded fuckin tight.
I miss Travis. He was by far a superior drummer.
Superior Drummer 2.0 x)
I disagree, even though Travis was a great drummer, and could come up with great beats and play quick, he lacked the timing and precision that Nic brings to the band, making their performances even better. None the less, Travis is a great drummer (:
Kahan Taraporevala Actually nick is the sloppy one lol. Travis was by far more precise live. Nick tries to add his own fills and goes too fast. Its really sloppy.
TriviumAnterior You have to cut him some slack though; he did, afterall, have to adjust his style in order to play their older stuff which normally isn't an easy thing to do. Plus, damn near every musician playing someone else's music throws their own twists in here and there; personally though, I don't think it should ever be done with drums, but that's not the point. And on top of all that, drumming has to be difficult for him: he has to make sure he doesn't fall off the stool with that big ass head. xD
Disagree entirely. Travis's only asset was his fast feet. His stick work has always been severely inadequate. He physically can't do fast rolls across snare/toms. Name me a song off ember. ascendancy, crusade or shogun that has genuinely impressive stickwork? There isn't one.
Nick is a much better drummer overall. Shattering the Skies, as Nick's first effort with Trivium, has better drumming than any of Travis's.
Matt's voice is FUEGO in this
This is the best live performance ever!
I prefer this version before studio version
I Dare say my favorite album is Ember To Inferno and Part of Ascendency
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT!! THANKS FOR TRIVIUM!
Never gets old watching this, too many times to count!
3:00-3:18 sounds similar to intro in Chapter Four from Avenged Sevenfold
Never thought of that before but youre right
Huh.....eh kinda
@@Reds_not_dead yeahhhh i can hear it
4:20 lol matt almost spit on camaraman face
Ascendency-era Trivium = an amazing part of my teen years. i remember when i first got that album
They're in a studio's large live room. All the mics, for drums, amps, and vocals are being run into a board. Each mic track can be edited still. There could still be multiple takes for each song, there are multiple cameras and angles.
PUTA Q O PARIIIIIIIIIIIIU SOM FODA PRA CARALHO!!!!!
02:57 the drummer is so tired
They fired his ass for a reason lmao
The dude couldn't play Travis' shit live... Nick is a talanted drummer but he wasn't cut out to be in Trivium
He looks high

@trivium I'm so glad you guys uploaded these officially! Thanks!
Meaning no disrespect..but this drummer looks weak after watching Alex Bent with Trivium...hes still a solid drummer dont get me wrong but...its Alex ya know.
100% agree
I used to think Travis was a beast, but then alex stepped in. Alex is a beast lol
@@JavierJimenez-po7fd this isn't Travis, it's Nick Augusto, the drummer that replaced Travis Smith after Shogun. As Christian Salas said, Nick is nowhere near Alex Bent or Travis Smith, for that matter.
@@pedromirorodrigues Strongly disagree, from a technique and style perspective, I think this guy smokes Smith.
Definitely think Bent is the best drummer for Trivium though.
@@bndncn you prefer Nick Augusto over Travis Smith? Ok, I respect your opinion, but at least for my taste, I find the drumming on Ascendancy and Shogun more appealing than the drumming on In Waves. This feels more repetitive, whereas Travis’ style was more diverse and fit the band better. Just my two cents, this was my first and only comment ever on UA-cam, it was nice to read a reply.
P.S.: Alex Bent is on God level, we agree on that :)
Alex is Godlike. He is no mere mortal
Wait wut? What happened at 3:25?
He switched to clean vocals..?
Viv Varghese he probably ran out of breath or he needed to take a quick break. Screaming isnt easy haha
Viv Varghese lyrics
Viv Varghese He may have felt his voice slipping. In order to scream the way he does, you have to position your throat/pathway,vocal cords - whatever you want to call it - a certain way, and force the proper amount of air through at all times. This can be a very difficult thing to do, especially if you're taking breaths in between screams which he may have been doing. So rather than trying to force a scream that would have sounded bad or hurt him, he may have chosen to switch to clean.
Viv Varghese actually he does that sometimes...sing in the middle of screaming...for diversity..its not because of vocal problems or anything
I love what they wear in this Era
Great song from Trivium as always .
