Dave should be awarded the Order of Canada just for his service to bass guitars alone 👍
Good job on having the chips on hand, the LF442CN has been long out of production. Another survival tip: Spend the extra on a LITHIUM 9V battery. They last a lot, lot longer and more importantly, they do NOT leak!
I’ll remember what I forgot later 😂😂😂😂😂😂
“Just because I’m a nice guy”. And modest, too, Dave. 👍
You don't need a Zener diode...a bog standard 1N4001 will do.
Zener diode has a completely different purpose, NOT what you want here. 1N400x will work, but I like to use schottky diode for pedals or preamps, less voltage drop over the diode. For example, a 1N5817 if it has 1 battery, 1N5818 or 1N5819 if it has 2 batteries in series.. You could just add one in series with the battery wiring and heat shrink it into place.
A solder sucker. Suction pig wants one for Christmas 🎸
just a standard diode , a zener diode breaks down at a set voltage in reverse direction used for voltage regulation
I appreciate you and thank you for making content.
Dave you really have a lot of patience with this stuff, hat's off to you!
Dave’s a wizard at arts and crafts.
I admire you took on the challenge. I would've been crazy tempted to just convert it to normal passive bass.
4:48 is for the headphone wearers :p Very nice troubleshooting BTW Mr. Dave.
Not Dave's first rodeo!🤠🤣
Awesome Dave!!
May have been wise to check once the new battery had been installed low supply voltage can cause distortion may not have been a faulty op amp
Glad to see you followed through with fixing the preamp! Buddy owes you a Molson on top of the bill!
I have a Carvin bass that I fried the IC in because it has the stupid battery box that allows you to put the battery in correctly and incorrectly, just as easily either way, and no battery sticker for dummies in the bottom. Went to swap a fresh 9v in and pop goes the weasel! Much like your job you just did, i put in a new IC with a socket, and added a reverse protection diode. Guitar makers must be allergic to the things!
Z minus tuning 😂😂😂
👍👍👍

Cool solder iron
desolder iron
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff I'm going to have to check into that pretty handy

Looks like a Total Gooch.
Apologies in advance for the Ultimate Gooch Donald Trump!
Nice job Professor Dave. You’ve managed to repair your brain, not many men can do that.
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! I need some advice: I have a okx wallet with money, and I have the seed phrase: (tag suit turtle raccoon orange fever main skull special hungry crystal mixture). How can transfer them to Binance?
Nice of you to do all of that for buddy. So much easier to not have to deal with that kind. Maybe when it fails on buddy the next time at a gig.
As sub dollar parts that whoever designed the schematic didn't include because they were told to save every penny.
Hello Dave, where did you get that brilliant de-soldering iron from?

You can piggyback the new i.c. on top of the suspect one, to test. If unit works, then replace the i.c.
good luck
Digital, nand and nor, remember? Thanks Dave!
you think I remember that shit? dont forget and and OR
@DavesWorldofFunStuff must have learned back in the eighties. Me too but long forgotten.
I missed you again.
Sandwich hour?
