Thank you so much. Perhaps 25 plus years of teaching and homeschooling my kids has benefits I never thought of! Thank you so much for those encouraging words and for letting me know how I come across. You are such a blessing!
Absolutely wonderful hoodie transformation. I really want to try this. Your tutorial was so easy to understand. What a great job! Thank you for sharing.
How fun! Because of your videos and those of 'tmyers handmade', I have finally gotten the courage to put the scissors to my decades old, well used denim jacket. Life has given this old body some mobility challenges. I now have difficulty with dressing myself because my arms, shoulders are painfully inflexible. I cut the sleeves off the jacket making deep arm holes that end at the banded waist. I'm binding them in bright colored flannel. The sleeves of a flannel shirt are split and made into big patch pockets where before there were none. I had to drape the jacket across my sewing station for several days prior to cutting into it. It was emotional for me. I am so very happy to have done this first beautifully freeing up cycle project. I thank you sincerely for your part in this liberating process. Peace and blessings from south Texas 💜
I think Tymers channel is awesome and I'm so happy that I could play a part in your upcycle journey. I'm also very glad you took the plunge and created something you love. It is hard to cut into something sometimes not knowing if it will turn out good or not. I'm super happy yours turned out awesome. Texas is blessed to have someone like you.
This is sew cute. I bought a couple of ponchos similar to your layout. Purchase from ALDIs to keep in my car for granddaughter and friends. Just in case they weren’t prepared for sudden changing weather. I was a brownie and a Girl Scout.. I just love your tutorial. Thank you for sharing.
I love it, thank you so much for doing a poncho! I hadn't thought of using a zip hoodie, I usually see them done with t-shirts, and in that case I guess you'd choose lighter fabrics. Thanks again, it turned out so good!
Love this Sherry - I'm a beginner sewer and just beginning to nail down basic straight lines, LOL, and can totally envisioning creating a poncho of my own based on your own instructions! Thank you!!! Connie from Canada :}
@@SherryJonesDesigns your videos are what got me started upcyling and sewing clothes in general. I started hand sewing quilt tops and luckily found a really nice sewing machine at a goodwill for 20 bucks about 2 months ago so now I am getting used to it. Lol I started hand sewing a tunic but it ended up being a skirt. I basically took your sleeve idea and attached them to a pair of jeans I cut off. I tried it on as a tunic and decided it made me look too big. Haha
@@sherried79 Wow! I"m so proud of you! Trying out new ideas is how we make amazing designs. You are such an inspiration! Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. I look forward to hearing more about your adventures!
So cute! Thank you for another inspiration of your patchwork style! Just watching and listening to your narration is so helpful! So fun to see you create!
Sheriiii I finished it.. eeeeeeeeeee that thing got big fast lol.. love it.. wish I could show you.. its the bomb man!! thank youuuu such fun.. and used a load of scraps
ohhh too cute.. I have thrift store in town and they put hoodies in there for a buck!! I have one too small in arms.. going to begin NOW -- then you girl.. love this!!
@@SherryJonesDesigns i had bout of insomnia last night almost finished one wheee and going to make the princess dress next.. looking for that sheet i saved its so pretty .. yes keep making them you rock!!
I like this. I would modify it though. I have batting. I would quilt the poncho part and make it 2 to three inches longer in the front and approximately 4 to six in the back. I've got a thing for pockets and. Thinking pockets on the inside primary body if it.
Good video, thanks 😊. I’m more interested in the BASIC construction of combining hoodie with rectangular pieces ( as sleeves). Basic rectangular fabric pieces, rather than patchwork. I stopped vid frequently and still can’t figure out if you’ve sewn a seam for arm definition ( loosely from wrist to underarm area.. ) or if you sewing a line definition along the added rectangular fabric pieces ( from bottom, along the area where hoodie and nee fabric meets) ? OR if this is a totally “ open” poncho style. ? Cheers
Thank you! I did not sew a sleeve for the arm to go into but rather sewed the end closed leaving a good sized opening...probably 3 to 10 inches. Hope that helps!
I LOVE the tutorials you provide! Do you believe there’s a size limit on the patch fabric pieces? Are there too small or two big pieces to use in patchwork?
Thank you so much! I use any size! I did notice that the smaller the pieces the faster it sells! I do try and avoid one or two really large pieces though.
You can make them any size you want which is the fun part of the overlap method I use and you can even come back over your patchwork and create designs if desired like flowers etc.
It's great to see people recycling their clothes and making it their own unique styles. Thanks for sharing your tips on how to do the patchwork.
You are so welcome!
You have a good style of teaching : clear, relaxed and inspiring. This is SO cute.

Sherry, you have a wonderful gift. Your personality is so sweet! Thank you for sharing all these awesome ideas ❤
Thank you so much for all those kind words!
I like the way you staggered the squares. I would not have thought to do that
The blue and the coral or orange is such a classic combination. I love this so much. The patchwork makes it special.
Thank you so much! I love it and I am going to try and put a few in my store so I can share the joy. Such a perfect garment for these chilly days.

Wow...cute❤
Cute 🧵
I thought a hooded poncho could be opened and used flat as a blanket. I think you have come up with something new.
I know it is super comfy and warm and I unzipped it is basically a blanket. A person could make one out of fleece and use it both ways I suppose.
Will this work with the raglan sleeve?
As long as you achieve the final shape you should be fine.
What sizes should I cut the patchwork pieces?
You can make them any size you want which is the fun part of the overlap method I use and you can even come back over your patchwork and create designs if desired like flowers etc.
Love it
We have the same name ❤
How cool!
Good evening. have you graduated?
Interesting question as you are not specific as to what I might have graduated from or to.
