    What I love most about this is how each person can make the design uniquely their own. 🥰

    You got me too thinking of a boho bib skirt with lots of pockets for the garden time.

    I like your elastic idea on the sides. But, a pleat will work also. Yes, they are cute.

    I have a pair of jeans that don't fit anymore, this would be cute. While I have the pants open, I am going to put in deeper pockets. I noticed that my husband's jeans have much deeper pockets, since I am making the legs wider there should be space.

      That would be awesome. I'm going to do some for myself as well. I think some capris with ragged edges would be so fun.

    Nice colors and nice pants. This immediately makes jeans much more exciting.
    I saw you struggling with that increasingly smaller space. Sometimes when I'm halfway through I just start at the bottom of the leg and work my way toward the middle so the seams meet there.

      Well, knowing me, if I tried that I'd have extra fabric upon meeting up...lol. Perhaps better pinning and using the walking foot might work.

    These are so cute. Thinking of widening the angle towards the bottom and cutting to gaucho length.

      Donna, that is a great idea. You could use some of your amazing textiles to create designs even. Congrats on the weight loss. I need to do the same but somehow I always end up exactly where I started...ha ha

    Wow! I watched you sew the 2nd side closed in awe. How on earth did you go all the way down like that? I kept thinking surely you'll have to stop and come at it from the bottom now! But you did it all in one go. That did look challenging. Now I know why Traci (tmyers handmade) puts her edges wrong sides together and just leaves seams on the outside. I like the look you were going for better, but it sure looked harder! Great job, I'm so impressed.

      Thank you! I wasn't sure I could pull it off either but it was the look I wanted and I got it! I was so happy!

    I just had a crazy idea on how to make sewing up the legs easier. Let me see if I can explain it. Do you think it would work to attach half the patchwork to each side and then turn the pants inside out and just sew it like normal pants? It's patchwork so another seam wouldn't matter.

    • @topangasunrise
      @topangasunrise 2 місяці тому +2

      Do you mean cut the patchwork in half lengthwise, then after attaching both to the jeans you just sew the two patchwork pieces together? That does sound like a good idea!

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  2 місяці тому +1

      That would work but you'd have a consistent seam all the way down the middle which wasn't the look I was after. I thought about doing the patchwork as I went but wasn't sure I'd be able to make it at the perfect angle I needed for the look I was after.

    Could you turn them inside out, put wrong sides together and sew it that way? I think I have done that before. These turned out super cute!

    • @SherryJonesDesigns

      One could do that. It would be a different look but still really cute.

    Just an idea Sherri when you sewed the side seams back up maybe turn wrong side out and sew together that way. Appreciate you. ☺️

  • @airwreckaaaaaaaa
    @airwreckaaaaaaaa 2 місяці тому +5

    Absolutely doing this for myself. That 2nd side seam is going to be the end of me. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  2 місяці тому +1

      Well , two other ways to do the side seams which I think would be fine is to face right sides together and sew them down creating a no raw edge look and you'd never have to go inside like I did or you could face raw sided together and have to seams facing out and fraying all the way down. Both these methods would be cute and would make it where you don't have to do that last seam.

      I have a pair of too tight 80's jeans 👖 that I'm working on adding extra fabric raw sides together with the frey edges.

    I love your ideas! I have found when sewing the last side of the leg, it is easier if the pant leg is turned outside in and the sewing is done from that angle as compared to doing it from the outside. I hope that makes sense.

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  14 днів тому

      That is awesome! Also, the narrower the leg, the harder it is going to be to do. I had quite a wide leg so it wasn't too hard.

    Sherry, you have mentioned gore the comments can become a library of ideas. Well,
    I got a half dozen pairs of old denims at a garage sale. They're the old heavy, stiff, no stretch denim. I can wear 2 of the pairs. Looking for suggestions on what to do with the others. The heavier fabric doesn't work too well in clothing that's supposed to be soft and drapey. Ideas anyone? Please tag me if you reply so UA-cam tells me. Thanks!

    Funny how spandex is hard to work with. The animals are cute peeking out!
    This is where I'm going to try out my free motion sewing machine foot. I'm hoping i can sew in a circle without having to move the jeans around in a circle for the patches.
    If you didn't have to use jeans from the tote, I'd suggest men's jeans as they're more often all cotton.

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  2 місяці тому +2

      I think that the free motion foot would be an awesome look. I also think padded patches so you have a kind of puffy look would add a dimensional effect too. I'm going to try making more of these myself. The one I made is already sold so I'm very pleased.

    Good morning. why not have assembled right side by side that would avoid infernal contortions and it would be more solid, right? it wouldn't be any less boho

      It certainly could be done that way but I wanted to see the raw denim edge on both sides.

    Dear Sherry, I have a question that I often have with things like this. I hope I can explain myself properly. OK when you went to put in your previously sewn patchwork strip; you cut through it, and therefore cut through your stitching. doesn’t that make those stitches vulnerable to coming apart? I never understand how people cut through previously sewn items, because isn’t it just going to unravel? Thank you so much for your help. 🙋🏻‍♀️

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  2 місяці тому +1

      Sure, I can answer your question and thank you for asking so nicely. I always sew with either a zigzag or a small straight stitch. This will stop things from coming undone. Then, when I cut through seams I do not pull on the fabric as I put it in place. Stitching back over a seam locks it all in place so nothing can come undone. Hope that helps.
