I feel like I was nervous about using stretchy fabrics for no reason. You explained it so well and all the examples you shoved helped me to understand a lot better. Great video!
Domestic sewing machines are the common household sewing machines you are likely familiar with. I use an industrial machine which is the larger bulkier type attached to a table. It is tricky sewing with elastic so unfortunately the best way to avoid stretching the elastic is to not stretch it while you sew. There isn't really a trick to un-stretch it once it's already been done!
If you use the same coloured thread you shouldn't be able to see the stitches! If you can see them too much you can try to tighten the tension a tiny bit at a time and see if it makes a difference 👍

What is a Domestic machine, a certain brand? How do you tighten elastic the has stretched with a zig zag stich? Make it closer together?

How did the stitches look when stretched from the correct side of the little black top? Thanks for explaining this so well ☺️

I love this! I recently got into making costumes, and I was wondering how to sew stretchy stuff. Will you show us the triple stitch too?
Ooh sewing costumes is heaps fun! I've never actually used triple stitch before 🤭 I might have to have a play and see what I come up with!
My zig zag stitches on knits always break, come loose, or skip stitches
You can also try a lightning stitch (looks like a lightning bolt) and see if that helps?
