I can't say enough nice things about the person making the video. I love that she understands that speaking SLOWLY and CLEARLY is important when instructing the masses, not having distracting long wildly painted fingernails and not being overly chatty just to the point. I will like and follow.
I’ve been sewing off and on for over 25 years. I will be sewing my first knit garment very soon. I’m so glad I watched this video. The tips given are amazing. Thank you ☺️
Thanks for giving me answers instead of more questions -Thread type -needle type -machine type -stich pattern -hemming All great tips 👍 Recommend video
This was very helpful. Thank you. I only wish that I looked for this video before I bought and started cutting and sewing my stretchy fabric. I had no idea there were special threads or needles made for stretchy fabrics. Well, it's too late for me to do things right on this project. I need to be finish within two days, and because everything that I bought for this costume cost more than anticipated, I can't even buy the right stuff that you mentioned. But I still appreciate the information. I'll save the video because I'm sure to need it again.
Thank you for this. I was actually scanning the internet on kinds of needles best for stretch fabric and I stumbled on your video. YOu just taught me so much more than I came for. I'm so happy to have come across this channel. NOTIFICATION ON!!!!!💞💞💞💞
I cant wait to try this this weekend. I just started learning to sew and I managed to make a very poor bra and panty set using an old stretchy turtleneck sweater and I have cotton thread so I pulled the fabric as I sewed so the stitch would stretch. It was a headache. I wish someone had told me there was thread that also stretched. I was convinced it was just me being to new.
Thank you for providing such an informative and fast video for us!! I agree with a comment that mentioned; you’d usually have to pay to be taught these! So thank you! On to sewing now! 💕
I found this presentation about a year and a half after you first shared it. Highly timely for me and much appreciated. I’ve avoided stretch knits until now. Your presentation was so well produced and chock full of really great tips. Thank you so much for sharing. I’m a new subscriber and look forward to more. 😊
Thank you so much for all of your advice on sewing stretchy fabrics. I have been putting this off for months because I didn't want to ruin my clothing or get snags in them from the sewing. I will now try your ideas and hope for the best. God Bless!
I have so many problems with polyester!! I am hemming a bridesmaid for a friend's daughter and don't want to disappoint. You answered every single problem I am having with a short explanation as to why. I'm an educator and am always lookimg for complete explanations. Excellent video!!!
I was hesitant to give Jersey another try because the first time I tried it, it came out with this hideous frill. But the adorable fabric has sat around sadly since. I'll try your tricks! Thank you for the great advice and demonstration. ♥
can someone hlep? the last tipp. softlock as shown in the video around 4:25 is that only possible with an overlock maschine? Or could i do something simmilar clean with a normal one that has some Overlock options? btw best video for short quick guide ever! love it
Excellent video, I really enjoyed it. I would like to see how you sew hems with the coverstitch machine because you cannot actually see what you are doing.
I’ve never watched a UA-cam video and needed to pull out a pen and paper 📝 thank you so much for the knowledge! I was ready to throw my machine out the dang window 😂 it just needed a simple needle swap 🤦🏻♀️😂😂 all the other videos I watched were useless, but you, you’re fantastic! Thanks again! 🖤🖤
nice video, i have just a regular old sewing machine without all these settings, may be could try different needle and thread options and test if that would help.
Hello Ma'am. Thank you very much for this very instructive video. I need help with something. That's the first time I am working with cotton jersey and I am having trouble finding which is the right side. Can you kindly advise? Best regards from Mauritius.
I can't wait to try what I've learned here. I made a mess at my first attempt at altering my husband's stretchy athletic fabric work shirt and was scared to try again!
Thank you so much for this video, that's a lot of good advice, I'm a beginner and was searching for a tutorial because I'm struggling but I think that it I try out the tissue paper hack it should work well 💞
I just started to learn about sewing and came across this video! I love ❤️ how you were informative and gave clear direction! Love the tips. Thank you!
I'm in the middle of make a (possibly ill-conceived) jacket-type top with stretch fabric. The possible ill-conceived part being that it has a lining fabric that isn't stretchy. Not sure that it's going to work out but I want to give it the best chance possible. Thanks for the video!
Hi there I hope you are doing well I just want some advice about machine which machine best that I can use on all type of clothes including jersy and jeans too please recommend me thanks
Can you do a video on how to sew strech fabric made from remenats of undetermined fiber because I bout 2 yards (pre-cut) from Walmart and it stretches both ways
I know thread isn't most of the garment but I avoid polyester since it's toxic. Spandex is a bit less toxic is my understanding. I hope other thread exists but I like appreciate this video. 🙏
I'm trying to sew stretchy Barbie clothes. I can j u s t make the basic seams sit ok but turning over hems are too thick and then the pressure foot won't move. So frustrating. Thanks for the other tips. Sandra
Hello! 👋 🙂 Help please! 😅 I have a stretchy knit fabric I got for several projects that my machine REFUSES to sew. This goes beyond skipped stitches, there is no stitching happening at all! As a dancer I've been sewing stretch fabrics my whole life but this one has me completely STUMPED! I've tried different needles, thread tensions, stabilizers.... Nothing has worked so far, and it's just not feasible to sew all these projects completely by hand only. Any tips, tricks, hacks, advice to get my machine to sew this fabric would be greatly appreciated!!! 🙏🙏🙏 Please and thank you! ❤️
This was super helpful! I knew what thread I should use, but I had no ideas which kind I shouldn't. Sadly, I don't have a sewing machine. Is there a way to sew spandex by hand?
Hi! You can stitch stretch fabrics by hand, but it will be very time consuming😢 That's why we recommend using sewing machines because it will get the job much faster!
My problem is the thin 4-way stretch fabric I’m using, because it constantly wants to slip away from the presser foot. It keeps sliding out and getting straight lines is almost impossible. I’m obviously not very experienced with sewing.

Can you use a starch spray as you sew. So maybe less stretching as you sew.
Would you recommend the ball or stretch needle for sewing 4-way stretch fabric, stretch lace or mesh?
Thank you, loved it 😍
Thank you, I have learned so much from this video

Can a twin needle be used on any machine, even older vintage ones?
I don't have the budget for a high-end sewing machine. Will a basic mending machine still work?

How can I cut and see my collar area going from turtle neck to more open collar
thank you so much so sharing this amazing tutorial !! this helps me so much ! May I ask you what's machine you are using for this video ? (brand)?
We used a Bernina 570 Quilter's Edition but you can sew stretch fabrics with any brand sewing machine.
@@WonderFilThreads thank u so much ❤️
This is great. Thank you so much.
Can you please tell what does it call the plastic strip use when overlocking the stretch fabric seam to hold in lavel %
Can you please point out the time?🤔 Trying to figure out which plastic strip you are asking about.
I have a b38 bernette none of these tips worked when sewing hems and too band for elastic on a trilobal fabric - help?!
I feel like basically if you want to see knit fabric you need two extra machines and an entirely different thread/machine/needle set up 😭
I use a non-electronic/old school machine so I’m not sure how to gauge the stitch size as it’s just a symbol on my machine.
How to do the soft edge with a normal sewing machine please and not a serger machine?
Great ideas
My problem is the thin 4-way stretch fabric I’m using, because it constantly wants to slip away from the presser foot. It keeps sliding out and getting straight lines is almost impossible. I’m obviously not very experienced with sewing.
Thank you very very much!
THANK YOU!
You're welcome!😍
Can you show how to use the stretch chart for knits on the back of the pattern?
That's a great idea! We can definitely include that in a future video.
Just wow information
