Worth to mention that if you shoot only JPEGs you can get 41mm and 58mm FFE focal lengths with the digital teleconverter function (read digital zoom on steroids). I wish Fuji would install 40mp sensor and allow for 35/50/75mm FFE focal lengths through digital teleconverter in the next iteration of X100.
@@khoale219 he is talking about a purely digital function of the sensor using the same lens... the reason the Q is bigger / heavier is it is both a full frame sensor paired with a full frame 28 mm lens... in the new version of the X100, likely being announced on 2/20/24, they will add the 40 megapixel sensor with the existing 35mm equivalent lens from the current X100V and I bet dollars to donuts the digital teleconverter will do 35/50/75 right out of the box much like the Q2.
great video! i'm still new to photography, i wanted to ask how you got that cool motion blur image at 13:04? What was the shutter speed/aperture to achieve that and how were you moving the camera while it took the shot?
Been looking into this to get a wider look. I also want to do more locked down video for my own stuff (it's great for short clips on a gimbal BTW), and while the X100V isn't seen as a true video cam, I really don't want to have to spend the money on a better hybrid and glass right now (XH2s anyone?) - and I actually love the cinematic look the X100V gives me (overheating aside. So I want to push its limits before moving onto something bigger and adding the WCL to the mix seems to be a way to get that. Had to remember my own thoughts and how they align with yours, Thomas - smaller, nimbler workflow with less to carry. :) Great vid and breakdown, man! Thank you for sharing. Subscribed! P.S. Amazing shots, too, man!
epic photos no matter what lens :D lol. it's so nice to see that there are options despite built in lens, aaah I can't wait to get my cam and just try lots of things
This video was very helpful for me. I sometimes struggle with the fixed focal length, but I consciously decided in favour of this model because of the size/weight, haptic setting options etc.. So it was a compromise, as I had been taking analogue point and shoots for years and wanted to have a digital camera again that I could enjoy using every day, that I could use easily and quickly and that would produce good results. It is a pity that the flash is disturbed by the adapter. It's strange that this couldn't be taken into account, but it's nice to have the option of changing the focal length after all.
Hi. When you say you missed focus a lot with the WCL, it doesn't recommed it to me personally although i would love the extra width it provides. Thanks for reviewing.
definitely! it's a fun piece of kit that does change things up. If anything you can always get a xe-4 or xt5 and get some different lenses Take a peek at the photos and you can see that I still got quite a bit of good shots! The AF definitely feels slower than the native lens though
Thank you for a fantastic video with some gorgeous photos. Not sure if you still own the X100v, I own the VI now and ordered the wide conversion lens. It’s a lot harder to find, almost as hard as the X100vi itself ! The telephoto version is easier to buy, but not really interested in 50/75/100. All the best and it’s nice to have options on the Fuji - I’m really keen to try the 28 or digital crop/zoom one level to 41mm
You mentioned that you shot in RAW. Did you notice any distortions with the convertor than need post correction? I believe there is in camera jpeg correction activated by magnets.
The 28 served me better for shooting architecture or dwarfing human subjects against building features. I got some shots of landscapes and it did ok. I’m more of a wide angle fiend but I would much rather use my XH1 for that.
Awesome video, definitely help with my decision making process. Also loved the photos! I might’ve missed this, but how are you colouring up your photos, Lightroom preset or sims?

it would make the camera heavy. Like the Leica Q, the body is small but the weight isn't, I think that is not the initiative that Fujifilm would take

Always a good day when Thomas releases a new video. 🤙🏼
Hah thanks Benj! Trying to offer up a good day every week lol

luv how this extender keeps the lens at F2!!
Glad you mentioned the pouch - I almost threw mine out with the box by mistake because I didn't notice it in there at first!
haha glad you caught that!

Hey great video man. Fuji are some legends for even developing these 2 adapters for the x system
Im picking my wcl this weekend
thanks! yeah those adapters really add some value to the already amazing x100v. Epic!

Stupid question maybe, but does the camera remain waterproof with the WCL?
yeah it maintains the weather sealing!
Love the montage!!!!
Thanks!
Thanks for the review. I've been thinking of picking up this adapter but i'm on the the fence.
course! it's pretty fun! Highly recommend

Very nice photos! Are you using a diffusing filter? On the ones right after the conclusion.
Thanks! Just a UV filter

x100 model with a fixed 2.8 zoom lens
Excellent points! I moved to griiix. Pocket ability or Fanny pack gang is so convenient. Just move my feet to recompose.
thanks! yeah that's a great move, the portability is huge. Being able to have something like that would be ideal for me too
Should be a 16mm or 24 equivalent.
Fuji website says 28mm FF equiv
Even shooting on it, it felt like a 28 haha
So, just make the X100V with an interchangeable lens!
Could be cool if they can give us tiny lenses like Leica m! For now these conversion lenses do the job I suppose hah
use a xe4 with the fujicrons and youre done. @@thomas.kovacik
@@thomas.kovaciki agree. Interchangeable would defeat the purpose of the x100v.
Buy the xpro or xe series instead of x100 problem solved

What problem did they create? Like he said a ton of times in the video, 35mm is great and this just gives an extra *option*
