Unless i missed some actual mention in there, his long service or rank doesnt necessarily mean that he obviously killed people and even if he did, it surely wasnt in a comfortable situation like this where the bear wasnt an immediate threat to his life or fellow soldiers and he had time to sympathize with it as he had it in his scope. Those situations sit miles apart.

To see them in packs, eat, play run was Spring in the air all over again. BUT thee BEST parts ever were I legit found a half rack fully intact, and on the way out from hike trail were a big ma, ma with her 3 babies eating. People walking bk and forth deers ain't even budging, so our turn we walk up so I could get close pictures and I gotta say my heart was racing and full of awwww, after I got over myself struct I look to my left and my daughter is just standing there in her soft voice talking to the deer mom, and I have awesome pictures didn't think of hitting record 😄 I was in shock, the deer looked at my kid with those big Brown eyes and had black around her ears she gracefully walked up to my kid and smelled her boots, coat it was omg... Gotta say I understand the thrill u get, cause to me at those times I forgot the World and poverty around me.

I appreciate all ya do and thank you. If your ever in ohio, give me a shout. Steve, at the end of the last part I was totally pissed that you would even attempt to let anyone end an episode like that one did. But I have to admit the “let a film crew tend to that while you go do something fun” comment totally redeemed yourself in this little series. Thank you for showing this bad ass everything that is the outdoors in this episode. Suffering, redemption, fellowship, food. This was a joy to watch, even more so than every other show you have posted

Damn. I love watching MeatEater for the content and the hunting knowledge/wisdom that I gain from it. Every now and then, Steve's humility makes me pause. I'm a former Marine grunt, only one tour in Iraq back in '03, since then i've been making an hourly wage as a beat cop. I am NOT special. But, there were a lot of special people that distinguished themselves in Afghanistan and Iraq. The deference and respect Steve showed to the LtCmdr in this two part episode, all I can say is "Well done, Steve. Well done." You, sir, are a class act. Support your local chapters of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

One of the best episodes. As someone who's joining the Canadian Army, I hope one day I can retire and spend my life going on adventures like this. Sounds like a damn good time!

It is comforting in a way, that a Navy seal forgot to click the safety off and flinched when he hit the go button.

Theres just no show like MeatEater. Entire crew are athletes with cameras, Steve is the skinny mountain man we all want as an uncle and then they get elite guests on to humble us further with knowledge and respect.

Steve, best 2 episodes ever. I respect veterans the same reverent way that you do and only wish I could extend as much gratitude as you did - to all service members... One at a time. (I know, impossible) Great show. I've followed you from the start. Thank you from Wisconsin. Go Midwest!
