The loudest sound in the wilderness is that "click" after pulling the trigger and nothing happened
Amen. I wonder what caused the FTF. Light primer strike? Bad ammo?
@@DestroBB Most of the time its because the gun isn't loaded.
@@DestroBB he talked about this in a podcast. Accidentally ejected the last live round when he was walking up to it
@@DestroBB you can see him rechamber the gun 2 times after the second shot, once right after the shot, and one walking up to the moose, and most 300 win mags have a capacity of 3 rounds in the mag
@@outdoorsman812 What episode?
Ryan is a straight-up legend. Cool, calm, and collected in every situation be it a grizzly or moose charging.
he has nerves of steel no doubt. A man among men! Love me some Callaghan!
Jd97kj😅person I have someone coming from a 777
“You know better than that…”
100%
Everyone needs a friend like Ryan to get you back out of trouble when you've done something dumb.
But rewarding
He let the smoke outta that thing
I feel like right after Steve got ran over, it was probably the happiest moment of his life
Of course haha
breakfast tasted better the next day
@@T_D_B_ Have you heard the one about the man, the tiger, and the strawberry?
Smell us now man!!!!!
Well he wants to get lightly mauled by a grizzly so your probably right.
"You know better than that."
"Apparently not."
Sums up the vast majority of my life.
That's sad
dang I need that part of the convo as a notification on my phone! x)
Rinella and crew: if you read this, make a shirt that says this. “You know better than that.” “Apparently not.” Maybe with moose antlers in the design. I’ll buy one.
@@maxwill4985 Oh please!! That be awesome!!:D
I was just thinking, I’ve heard that exact same conversation once or twice in my life....
I don't even hunt but I've seen every Meateater episode at least three times. 😄😄
You should start
gawdang
When I would visit my mother..I would spend many hours on Netflix watching Every episode
Wow well it’s never to late to get your license and start
Same here man. I love the idea, but just never took the plunge for some reason.
“Didja get your moose?”
Steven: “Yep, after he ran over me”

Omg so funny !!!!
Steve -"Holy Smokes, I am still in shock"
Ryan - Full Grin* "You should be!"
I love Ryan.
Ryan is the example of what all hunters should be.
I always wonder if Steve ever carries a pistol. Especially in Brown bear county. It would have been handy.
@@MrRyanmcmahon cant in canada.
@@cupidsnut That is just ignorant. Being allowed to carry a pistol in Alaska has saved many lives
Best episodes are always with Ryan . A Bear charge , and then a moose has his 2nd coming of life . Classic episodes !!
Callahan episodes are the best.
yea
It's like ryan taking his son out hunting everytime I watch these 2 together
Ryan - "I'm glad too see you standing on your own two feet" snickering smile. lol
"You know better than that."
"Apparently not" greatest thing I've ever heard lol
"So much of life is safe and a little bit of danger, in my eyes, isn't such a bad thing." 🙌💯 AMEN & AMEN
Do you mean awomen sexiest
Our adventures shouldn't just be watching UA-cam. Go out, get hurt, heal and repeat. Moderation is for cowards.
That's why I I allways have a backup plan..if I'm alone 2nd weapon or group overlapping fields of fire on approach....sloppy work clearly no ones ex milltary there lol
He will never make that mistake again...
@@amanwithouthope9475 shut up 🤐
"Smell us now lady!"
Steve handled the pacing of his mistake perfectly. Throughout the whole episode he told you it was a mistake, but in the end he did also admit to what a lot of us would be thinking on a more primitive level. Safe and honest.
One of my favorite episodes. That yell when the moose charges never gets old!
Ahahqhaagsgjufvh gET AwaaaaaaaAAaaaaaaAY!!!!!!!
I feel like Steve is sort of proud of the fact that he got run over by a moose 😂
haha he does seem pretty happy about it😂
I'd say happy to be alive, been in a similar situation myself and my first reaction was literally screaming Thank you God!
grandma got run over by a reindeer, Steve got run over by a moose

Another one off the bucket list
"GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!!" LOL.... What can you say, just one of those moments in life when for a split second you're the bug and...BAM...a story to tell.
Steven is one of my hero's for sure
I'd like to hunt with Cal
Heck yeah same, Smell us now lady!
Do u know glenn villeneuve. He's a pretty cool dude to
Hell ...how bout the Camera man
Camera man Has the real Balls 😂
Crazy to see Steve go after an animal like that and not let it go and bleed out. First rule of fight club should have been don’t rush a wounded Bull Moose 😂
That area was way too thick with brush. If that moose ran 100 yards in any direction, it would take days to find.
And the fact he wasn't loaded ready to finish it off. Misfire yeah right 🤣
@@caseymckinney903 Not trying to argue but that’s not even close to true... Anything a 1000 pound bull can go through a 180 pound human can... Not sure if you’ve moose hunted or not but when they bust brush they make a highway through it 😂 plus they leave a path of blood on everything they rub
@@jeremyb5198 really? Cuz last time I checked any human can make a mistake. I get what happened and why it happened, sometimes you shoot and suddenly doubt yourself, you're terrified that animal will suffer and you know if it gets away and you don't find it then you've killed it for nothing. Personally I'd rather take that risk than kill an animal for no reason. I'm betting Steve felt the same.
@@randysparks1271 I honestly believe that he just made an excited mistake. I did the same after a bull elk in 2015 in Oregon thinking it was down and ended up jumping it back up in thick reprod timber doing a pointless chase across country and literally ruining most of the meat on an animal pushing it until it died not to mention putting myself way of course in the dark I messed up and knew better. We all make mistakes especially when we’re excited or even worse impatient 😂
An actual instance of “ITS COMIN RIGHT FOR US”
Thanks for publishing this. I'm happy to see what i consider to be a professional hunter make some human-like blunders. Its a sign of integrity to show the ups and the downs.
That moose came back from the dead like the undertaker 😂
I'm a simple man i see meateater i click.

Yes, but what’s the point? It’s all so meaningless Friedrich...
I appreciate that Steve was willing to share this footage. I for one have learned as much or more from my mistakes while hunting than from anything I've been taught.
13:46 might be the greatest single moment in MeatEater cinematic history.
Meateater Cinematic Universe (MCU)
Having a pissed off moose trying to gore you has to be an experience no man would soon forget. I'm truly glad you're ok brother, keep living the good life.
Cameraman actually dispatched the moose with one swing of camera.
His heart dropped when his rifle didn't go off
"everybody's good?" ... "yeah" (Steve thinking well I did just poop a little)
Good thing he had waders on to hide that! Lol
Hahahah I know I would of been like... welp time to take a shower in the stream and wash my underwear 🩲
White humor is fun! Lol
@@JoseLopez-yx4et would this be brown humor? Like the color of the poo is brown?
Ryan is one laid back dude.

The look on Steven's face when he says he got run over by a moose you can tell in the back of his mind hes like "this is so cool" lol
The "Smell me now" guy! ;)
Thank you for making a hunting show worth watching. I completely gave up on hunting shows 10 years ago. You have a way with connecting with the viewer giving them the same experience as you would actually hunting. It has gave me a new desire to try harder hunting.
Never been charged by a moose, but as a hunter for 35 years, I can totally relate. Hunt long enough and you are bound to have a few close calls. It lets you know you are alive, which may be one of the myriad reasons we keep coming back for more! Great hunt!!
"- You know better than that!"
"- Apparently not."

Ryan Callahan is a great partner to hunt with seriously it’s your show but the guy is just A+. Memorable hunt for sure and unforgettable. Thanks for sharing.
Cameraman is a legend for getting that footage during the final charge…
That steak was basically cooked rare. And I’m basically jealous of them because of that.
I'd like to know more about the seasoning and the bone marrow, never tried it.
I've been wanting to see this episode for so long, I'm stoked that it's gonna happen.
This old video is part of what made me have such respect for Steve. He doesn’t hide his mistakes and accidents rather he proudly shares them so others can learn from his mistakes. He’s an amazing hunter and love EVERY video he has filmed.
Finally! Saw the episode that showed the moose charge from the intro for all these years!
"Well you know better than thaaaat" the friendliest telling off ever. I love this show.
Ryan: Everybody's good??
Steve: uhguhuefhuehuhug
Man, the amount of endurance, stamina and strength these guys have to go on what are sometimes week-long hunting/camping trips is incredible to me. I mean, they’re hauling all that gear that must be at least 60 or 70 pounds (not to mention when they get a several-hundred-pound animal that they then must drag all the way back to camp) up and down mountains and rough terrain all day long for several days, and they make it look easy. I’d be dead after a few hours of that lol
This show has inspired me to hunt. Steven completely changed my perspective of hunting and my knowledge of it.
It's great, and believe me, it really makes a difference knowing you can always feed your family.
The meat topped with marrow looked absolutely amazing 👏
Yeah, I have to admit I got hungry real quick seeing that
Really enjoyed this video as I do most of what you guys produce. This one was special as it brought back the memories of my own Moose hunt back in 1968. I'd gone to Alaska to see it before I got drafted for Vietnam. I found a job in construction in Fairbanks, went fly fishing a lot on my time off and in the fall went Moose hunting up Birch Creek just a little bit south of Circle , Alaska. Two guys I met at work had a 18ft aluminum jon boat with a motor that could be lifted up almost out of the water to get over the shallow spots. After a long slow 2 day ride upstream a bull jumped up from lying down on the bank in front off us about 150 yards away.
All three of us fired as quick as we could but on my second shot I shot him in the neck with my
'06 and down he went. Lordy, what a butchering job that was. He was like butchering out a full grown Bramah bull. This is where our stories connected.....The butchering. I took all three of us to gut, skin, quarter and carry the quarters to the boat. Thank goodness it wasn't far.
This bull was about the size of yours, you can't eat the horns......but gee what a pile of meat!!
Not a hunter but with the UA-cam hunting videos hours under my belt, I can see that a hunter's nightmare is a wounded beast. 🦌
in more ways than one. in the case of a big animal that can hurt you, but also in the sense of losing the animal and it suffering. Its the last thing you want and while it happens, ive never seen anyone happy about it.
I dont have any idea what moose taste like but my mouth is literally watering just watching you eat.
Steve is a great ambassador for the hunting community. Nice job guys.
Lol this is probably my favorite episode. Just that moment when the bull stands up and starts moving up... great camera work.
Stoked you are hunting in BC! Greetings from a fan in bc! Lol
You are lucky
Hello fellow BC fan. From another BC fan lol
@@wolfspice6545 yea it's an old episode from a few seasons back but it was new for me
Do you live in that jungle?
@@Henkkaassouffle well, I don't live in that area but I'm in the south west corner of the province. no matter what though, the Bush and every mountain is that dense anywhere you go. On the west coast near Vancouver island it's literally a rainforest. So a different kind of jungle lol The public hiking trails maintained by the province are so easy to make a wrong turn - 50 feet from where you went off trail, you can't see the trail anymore. A girl died last week when she got lost on the local mountain & last night 2 people were missing luckily they found them alive & air lifted out by the search and rescue crews who recovered the other girls body. There's warning signs about Bears & cougars at most of our parks. I'm in a residential neighbourhood & There's a pack of coyotes in the forest 300 yards from my house though lol
No better hunting duo than these two men here.
Man Cal is a cool Cat!
I'd wait 100 years just to do something like this. I'll be fishing in the mean time
Draw a tag in montana!
id honestly love to do a hunting trip with steve, most chill guy ever
I saw one video of Steve hunting with a friend and the friend shot his animal and got it then Steve said I'm going to get his animal. Shit enjoy the time with your buddy about his kill
One thing about Steve is he doesn't waste anytime and shoots the first game animal he see's.. How many times is it now that rifle has miss fired, time to get another brand, that free stuff ain't worth losing your life over! Best hunting videos out and Ryan is one hell of a hunter/guide!
I like how he say along for the ride when ole Cal is the guy running the boat. Looks like Steve was the one along for the ride. Been waiting for this episode though!
I've been waiting to see this episode for so damn long.
YES! I've been waiting for this one, thanks Steve
It’s quite refreshing to see an hunting show where everything’s not always perfect! I commend you guys for not editing out the flub ups. It’s happen to us all and glad you have the confidence to show the entire experience. What a great episode!
Nothing excite more than Ryan and Steve together 😂👍👍👍👍
When will we get a chance at shirts that say "I live to hunt and hunt to live?"
They look so awkward when fishing
Ryan is the best kind of person and friend you want to have watching your back when out hunting.
love meateaters these guys are doing a show on what my father taught me about hunting and life.
Sad
Hi steven hiw are you??? Can i come hunt with you some time
Dude!! That was gnarly! Thank God for Ryan.
i like cal's mustache and the way he talks
Even better than the moose call by good ol Ryan Cal is the "GIT OUT OF THE WAY"!!! FOLLOWING THE BLOUWCH. Good man good man.
These dudes are so calm dropping that bull 🤣
I'm glad you kept the rush in the video. That's a very important lesson to impart on us. Glad you are ok.
I’ve had some screws up hunting but none like that but I love watching these two hunt together
Callahan 😍 what a hunk! That moustached mountain man really knows how to handle himself out in the wilderness.
I enjoy that Steve shares his mistakes. I'd say he has the best hunting show out there. My wife enjoys sitting with me and watching him. That's a win for me.
Even though Steve made a mistake I always admire him for acknowledging it and making it a learning lesson
Yeah, I love his show but I think his 7mm was a poor choice in that area. Too thick and way too close. Should have used a slug gun or a 45-70.
The Moose gave you three things: a good hunt, good meat & a great campfire story 🔥
This is better than anything on mainstream television.
Finally get to see the "moose drive by" on Steve! Thanks 🙏 for sharing!
Bull trout to boot! Bull Moose and Bull Trout both on my bucket list! Thanks!
If you've not eaten wild game in the field, add that to your list. Truly visceral.
Cool story Steve. That's what makes us all hunters and human at that........be safe and have fun sir
12:40 when you and your buddy look at each other after you’ve just done something stupid 😂
This guy is a legend!! He can't make enough episodes of hunts in BC/Alaska! Keep them coming please!
This hunt and the tahr hunt with Remi are in the top 5 best Rinella shows
Callahan is amazing. What a call.
My mouth is watering! Moose is some the best meat I've ever eaten hands down.
My favorite show right now
The most memorable and iconic episode of MeatEater. Love this!
Everything you hunt & cook makes my mouth water!!!!

Ryan is such a badass dude
More please! Releasing an episode once every three days was an excellent idea, thank you.
Ryan out here like Hermione 'What an idiot' but then still getting Steve out of trouble like a true mate.
That's a hunt Steve will never forget!
I friggin love how well this show is shot and put together! One of my favorites for sure 🇨🇦
Finally the famous moose episode!
Having started on later seasons I've been waiting for that "Get away!" moment from the newer intro!
Exceptional! The filming was also extremely professional. You are in my Province. I've hunted moose near Vanderhoof, 90km west of Prince George. It dawned on me that the "old timers" had a succulent meal in the most primitive setting; something the best Restaurants couldn't even provide these days!
