"Torture is a Part of Russia's Policy" - Clooney Foundation Project Coordinator in Ukraine

- Back in 2022, shortly after the onset of the Russian full-scale invasion, lawyers from across the globe formed a group to assist Ukraine in tracking down Russian war criminals. The Clooney Foundation for Justice, established six years ago by Hollywood actor George Clooney and his wife Amal, played a significant role in this initiative.
Then, at the end of October 2023, the Clooney Foundation appealed to the German prosecutor's office with a request to investigate three alleged war crimes committed by the Russian military in Ukraine. The foundation provided the prosecutor's office with evidence from field research, satellite images, and public sources. In an exclusive video interview with
Kyiv Post, Solomiia Stasiv, the Project Coordinator for the Clooney Foundation, revealed the smallest details of the institution's work in Ukraine and how many people's efforts are involved in this ambitious process of bringing war criminals to justice.

What about the theater with all the kids, the people tied up and shot, the people shot down in the streets of Bucha, and all the people killed in Mariopel ?
Seems like many incidents beyond the three you pointed out are being missed here.

They have no access to the city as it's under Russian control. The Russians are never going to let war crime investigators in to discover the facts while they occupy the city. No one understood the scale of what the Nazis did in the concentration camps till they were liberated., you have to win the war to see the truth.

In the past and present, certainly back in the era of the BAOR/ British army of the Rhine, Mrs C was a Nursing officer with the QARNC ,was issued with a Sterling sub machine gun and a Browning side arm to protect her patients if the Russians arrived...nothing has changed...in our view...The battle of Blood Nullah ( Admin Box) , was an example of ( Imperial Japan) , killing medics and patients. ,so it has and will happen...a truly horrific thing...Thank you for sharing this...best wishes from the wirral peninsula, keep up with the great work that you do...E...

To the question "Can a hospital be a military target", the answer is in the Hague Convention. Protected buildings can be targetted on some precise conditions which are rather simple: if these facilities are used by active militaries.
Using a hospital, a school, a religious building, a library, a dam, etc, as an arms depot, as a military base, or to shoot from it, e.g. having a sniper in the tower of a church or a mosque makes it a legitimate target, and the war crime is on the one or those who use these facilities for military purposes.
I think that the only places to be off-limits are nuclear plants, thus, ruzzi uses the Zaporozhia NPP as a military base... Targetting an active NPP would be absolute insanity... This is a thing Hamas already did, and the Houthis did it recently as some of their balistic missiles were aimed at the Dimona nuclear plant in Israel...
There are no rules in war, it’s all about survival!
Wrong: if a person is sitting in a bunker, far away from the front line and well protected, pushing the button to launch a missile against a civilian target, this is *not* about survival, it's about spreading terror, about killing innocent civilians including children, about violating internationally acknowledged rules of war, about commiting war crimes. And please don't tell me that raping and torturing captives by invading troops is about 'survival'. That's absolute nonsense.
do you also work on crimes against Palestinians? The crimes seem at least as obvious and deliberate.

My dear Lady the ideal world exists only by God in Heaven were love rules and maliciousness is not known. At the moment humanity works extremely hard for its own extinction by creating more and more nuclear weapons and by incessantly feeding the military industrial complex. I guess most of us do not even realise how near we are to total annihilation. Humans consider themselves as being the most intelligent species, but I believe that we are pretty stupid. Here comes to mind a sentence from the bible: “ …if anyone wants to be great then he shall be a servant to All…”
