Telling me at as a 10yr kid what ruSSia is all about . They told me to always watch what ruSSia does and says they will always be war criminals and when I grow up I will understand more . Dare not to sleep" (Norwegian: "Du må ikke sove!") is a poem written by Arnulf Øverland. The poem was first published in the magazine Samtiden in 1936,[1] and included in the poetry collection Den Røde Front from 1937.
It is about the Nazism and Fascism's onward march in Europe - a warning against indifference, human contempt and a warning against what would happen.
    Dare not to sleep!
I woke up one night by a strange dream, it was like a voice spoke to me, clear as a power from below, and I stod up: What do you want from me?
-You must not sleep! You must not sleep!
You must not believe, that you’ve only dreamed!
    Yesterday I was sentenced.
In the night, they have raised scaffold in the yard.
They retrieve me at five tomorrow!
The whole basement is full, and all of the barracks have basements by basements.
We await in stonecold cells, we are rotting in the dark hole!
We do not know what is awaiting, we wait, and who would be next, they retrieve.
We are groaning, we scream-but can you hear?
There is absolutely nothing you can do?
    No one will see us.
No one will know what is going to happen, happen to us.
Yet more: no one can believe, what happens here daily!
You mean, it can not be true, so evil no people can be.
There have to be some decent people there?
Brother, you have much to learn yet!
You said: you should give your life, if it is required.
And now, we have provided it-in vain, in vain!
The world has forgotten us! We are deceived!
Dare not to sleep in the night!
Think not of your gain and loss!
Do not blame others, that you have done more than enough!
Do not sit safely in your home and say: it is sad, poor them!
You don’t have to endure the injustice and evil that others must endure!
I cry out with the last breath of my vote: you are not allowed to forget!
Forgive them not; they know what they’re doing!
They breathe on the bondage of hatred and evils hot coals!
They like to kill, the glories of jammer, they want to see our world in flames!
They want to drown us all in the blood!
    Do you think? You know!
You know, that school children are soldiers, as the shoals of song over turf and streets, and the joy of their mothers. Pious pigs, they are guardian of their country and want to go to war!
You know it means public deception with fortitude and with faith and honor. You know, that the child wants to be a hero. He will wave a sabre and flag!
And he’s going to out in a shed of steel and hang again in a barbed wire and rot for Hitler’s Aryan race!
You know, it is humans meaning and goals! I realized it’s not. Now it is too late.
My judgment is fair. My punishment is deserved. I believed in progress, I believed in peace, at work, one cohesion, on love! But the one that will not die in a crowd get to try alone, on the hangman’s block!
I cry in the dark, you hear! There is a single thing to do: Be our help, while you have a free hand! Give us your children! Europe is on fire!

Thank you very much for taking risks to inform us about the cruel practices of the Russian state! British and Dutch support for Ukraine is indeed impressive, and I think that many people in other European countries are grateful for that. It would be interesting to know why so many people in countries that suffered from German occupation have no real desire to actively support Ukraine. Appeasement seems to be the most comfortable reaction to problems that one does not want to acknowledge. Military problems need a military solution, not just some economic sanctions that can be circumvented.

John Sweeney's aggressive journalism and comedy aimed at Putin's heart is great! Please John Sweeney make a documentary about Ukrainian comedy as a weapon of self defense and national uprising/resistance in this absurd war against Ukraine by the Russian tyrant and empire fantasist Putin. There is Servant of the People TV series of course, and many new comedians spreading Ukrainian attitude and resistance through their counter-culture. Ukrainian comedy will triumph over Russian tragedy of war as a matter of justice and by spreading support for the Ukrainian independence movement through online culture. Comedy has been legitimately weaponized for resisting the traumas of war and colonialization by inhumane and torturing, lawless conscripts forced by gunpoint to do all the dirty deeds of a distant dictator. Zelenskyy himself is a leading comedian and artist of the absurd.

Ever since I was a young boy, I have seen television documentaries and books about the wars of last century. I could never understand how the grown ups could have looked on; doing and saying nothing as fanaticism took hold. How could they witnesse, enable, or even participate in the most appalling atrocities against fellow human beings? I also saw the many solemn speeches delivered in the immediate aftermath of war, and in annual memorial services since; all earnestly declaring commitment to ensure such things would never be repeated. Now aged in my fifties, I have seen for myself how these things happen. I am disgusted and I am ashamed.

From one who experienced everyday life in a country I did not fit in I can tell you that just hearing or even seeing documentary about does not begin to describe the oppression and down right belittling of any one person who is somehow in a position of need or beneath you somehow. Example: you need a new passport ( in a normal country this is a simple transaction) in Russia officials (clerks) treat you like you some kind of idiot. Make you wait all day to get a blank form to fill out. Next time you come if you did not bring a bribe you'll wait one or more days for some other insignificant piece of paper, that you have to have to get the document that government require you to have.

Sometimes people excel in the particular skill I teach, but I think that is down to individual personality more than any kind of innate ability. That must be nurtured though. some people can show aptitude for certain things, but as I said before it is down to the individual rather than any group dynamic. Talent should be nurtured, but the pupil must know that this doesn't make them any better than the man up the road. Ramble over lol. Damned whisky.

He then went on to say that American "liberals" call what Russia is doing to Ukrainians is atrocities. The deportation of 500,000 ethnic Ukrainian civilians who were citizens of the Second Polish Republic was a World War II War Crime and Genocide of Ukrainians who were sold as Slaves to Russian Soviet Slavery. They were expelled from their native homeland in Poland to Soviet Ukraine between September 1944 and April 1947 where they were used as slaves; many of them were sent to the labor camps in Siberia, GULAG, Kazakhstan where died from starvation, forced labor and tortures. Truman, President of the United States of America, did hereby proclaim the cessation of hostilities of World War II, effective twelve o'clock noon, December 31, 1946. It means the deportation of the Ukrainian civilian population which was never disclosed either by Western allies nor by the Soviet Ukraine Republic where the Ethnic Ukrainians were deported involuntarily and forcibly. In contrast, the Poles who lived in southern Kresy (now Western Ukraine) were given the option of resettlement in Siberia or Poland, and most chose Poland. According to the agreement between the Government of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and Polish Committee of National Liberation, evacuation of Ukrainian population from the territory of Poland and Polish citizens from the territory of the USSR signed September 9, 1944 which was forcibly deporting Ukrainian population who were citizens of the Second Polish Republic. Yalta (Crimea) Conference of the Allied Powers (4 -11 February 1945) - the meeting of leaders of the anti-Hitler coalition - the USSR, the US and the UK - during the Second World War, dedicated to the establishment of the post-war world order, when they divided land and slaves. The redistribution of boundaries Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin, having gone on mutual concessions, agreed on almost all counts. So the land where 500000 ethnic Ukrainians lived for centuries was given to Poland and the Ukrainians were expelled to the Soviet Slavery. Another secret agreement was signed during the conference, which was very important for the Soviet side, namely an agreement on the repatriation of military and civilian, that is displaced - persons released (captured) in the territories captured by the Allies. As the result of this agreement people were transferred to the Soviet side among them were the Ukrainian civilian population lived in centuries, never had Soviet citizenship. Stalin tried to create not just political borders but also to reinforce their ethnic boundaries, engaging in resettlement, eviction, as well as religious, liquidating the Greek-Catholic Church and transferring its faithful to Orthodoxy was part of the section according to the Molotov - Ribbentrop Pact. Stalin received the international legitimacy of the Western Allies in Yalta on those areas that were actually invaded in 1939. ua-cam.com/video/Ztn-3L_RONw/v-deo.htmlsi=QZNphpK-sros3vRk

@@jonnywishbone1342 the excuse of whataboutism is a lame, poor, weak way to avoid responsibility. Without accountability for past crimes future ones are guaranteed. Go home, get out of foreign countries, fix yourselves up, punish your criminal leaders. You'll be much happier and will stop inflicting your misery onto others.

Abu Graib was wrong but it came to light and people where actually sentenced for it. It was against the will of the government.
Bucha was much worse and what did the Putin regime do? They did not investigate it, they lied about it and tried to cover it up. They decorated the soldiers responsible. It was government policy.
You know what a whataboutism is? It is not a defence, it is a confession. The only thing you have is an accusation of someone else. Like someone else doing something somehow makes it OK what you do.
And even that you can not do convincingly. You never can point to sonmeone who is as bad as you.

All the best to Ukraine...but John Sweeney is an activist not a journalist.......nothing he says has any journalistic credibility. Usual stuff here about Trump for example has been levered in to this nonsense.
