    I track down a couple of faults on a dead MacBook Pro A1286 820-2915, I didn't even have to turn my soldering iron on!

    Good diagnostic skills. Looks like your getting the hang of Mac book repair.

      You haven't seen the ones I have been struggling with yet :-), there are 4 so far that I have had a hard time trying to get going, one I am working on right now has two buck regulators which are not running, but I cannot figure out why ! all the supporting components check out, all the connections between components are OK, and I have replaced the IC's twice... I did find some bad via's which I was able to work around, but still no luck yet... I have spent about 10 hours on this issue alone !
      I think I was spoilt with the first few I worked on being pretty easy to fix... these ones are making up for it!

      The Defpom's Repair Channel That’s the way it rolls but you tend to learn more on the difficult stuff. Have you got all that fancy schematic software for tracing out the wiring etc. I don’t think I’m going to take up laptop repair in the near future. But look forward to watch you struggling LOL. Regards Chris.

    Hi,
    I have a Macbook Pro 15" early 2011, when I tried to update system os, its was so warming and sometime later, its had started to show white screen. But after long time, I pressed hold the power button and its switched off, then again I tried to switched on it. But, it wont switched one. I showed my friend and he told me its display damage, is it really display damage or gpu issues? Please let me know is it repairable or not ? Thanks man!

    Hello, do you have a video showing how to replace the wifi antenna on a 2011 macbook pro 15"?

    Well done, another working mac :-D
    That hard drive cable is rather crap, very thin and easy to damage.
    Perhaps get the non charging battery and crack it open to inject power direct to the actual cells, cant make it any dead-errr lol.
    Ordinary laptops have the bad habit of cooling the cpu and graphics chip on the same pipe, i suppose the mac pushes them much harder.

      zx8401ztv - yes I was thinking that I should try charging the cells directly, the protection circuit is on the very end of the battery pack, so can probably bypass it to put enough power in to get it working again.

      Well it's worth a go, it can't make it any deader ha ha :)
      And i've noticed if it does not matter then you often get away with it.

    If you sold them with SSD's fitted would it not make them more atractive to buyers?......Btw, I know nothing about Mac's!

    • @TheDefpom
      @TheDefpom  5 років тому

      IanScottJohnston - yes ssd is better and more liked, but I don’t want to spend money unless I need to, as in the end it comes out of the profit I might make/increases the price I have to sell it for. Most of them don’t come with drives, so I have been buying 120gb ssd’s for those.

    better dont buy too much of those 2011-or-earlier macbooks (unless you use linux on them ;).
    mac-os 10.14 (just recently released) does not support those anymore, because the graphics chip in these is too old to support their new engine. i got a 2011 one and cant update it any later than 10.13 . they are end-of-life.

    • @TheDefpom
      @TheDefpom  5 років тому

      I’m only recently upgraded to 10.12! I tried 10.13 and it didn’t play well with some of my software, so I’m stuck in 10.12 for the foreseeable future
