Exactly!! honestly I realized how low key genius Rachel was when she made the black and white striped dress Katrina wears in the last scene of the Tim Burton classic "Sleepy Hollow". I remember thinking, this will be difficult. After all, this is a period dress, with panels. etc, and the challenge lies in using this striped fabric properly - sewing it in such a way that the pattern ALWAYS points in the proper direction and lays correctly. Then I saw her *PAINT THE STRIPES ON THE FABRIC.* it blew my little mind. I realized that if you're making a project casually, i.e., not being paid to create something exact for film or theatre, it doesn't really matter how you manage to achieve a certain look. As long as everything stays together and ON the garment, and its cohesive enough to be taken off and put on comfortably, and looks like you want it to, evokes what you want it to, you have succeeded. She did it again in this video. Don't have the time/know how to embroider a shit ton of pearls/beads/crystals? Use applique.....and silver puff paint!!!! You would never know the difference! Just awesome. I love that she makes me feel like I could make some of the stuff she makes. It doesn't appear to be so distantly difficult so that I don't even want to try. I love Rachel for that.💗

@@amberelf-mcp4912 yeah that one was remarkable for how much she looked like her! But that shot of her in this video in front of the fountain was stunning and I literally gasped! I couldn’t believe how much she looked like Drew
Ever After is SUCH an iconic movie and honestly one of the BEST Cinderella remakes ever. The heroine is actually interesting, outspoken, intelligent, and for once, has a believable reason for remaining in the shitty situation she's in (not only is the estate technically hers, but she has to worry about feeding and taking care of the servants who are like her family). The movie was iconic, the dress was iconic, Drew Barrymore was iconic, your remake turned out SO BEAUTIFUL, and now I have to watch this movie again soon.
This. It set a high standard for Cinderella films, for me, which is one of the many reasons I was so letdown by the Disney live-action remake, pretty sure the only “people” you see her be nice to are the mice😒😒😒
I adore, ADORE this movie. Danielle is a smart/capable heroine character in a way that Hollywood often doesn't get right (not just because 'strong female character goes here to pander to the audience,' but because it suits her personality and how she was raised). Actually, Drew Barrymore has said that Danielle's spunk and determination affected what roles she wanted to play afterward. The creators paid great attention to the politics and dress of the period, the script is smart with some fantastic scenes and lines, and even the side/antagonist characters have levels of depth to them. Most romance movies in general just don't hold up to Ever After in my book.
I think the Drew Barrymore adaptation is iconic, but I also think there's also something to be said about the strength of the original Cinderella. Cinderella was created in a time when women didn't have the same rights we do today, stuck in an abusive household, mourning the loss of her father. All she wanted to do was go to the ball like her stepsisters and have a night away from it all; she didn't go because she wanted to marry a prince. She rebelled in the ways she could as a servant and managed to bring herself out from under her step mother and sister's cruelty.
That TRANSITION!!!!??? That was excellently done. Stupendous. Wonderful artistic touch. Gorgeous dress, I'm so happy you're proud of it because you should be! It looks amazing and your contouring/make up legitimately made you look like Danielle. When I first saw the video thumbnail I legit thought it was two shots from the film, not a reference photo and your creation. Well done.
The shots in front of the fountain are SO gorgeous!!! The lighting really shows off all the beautiful details of the dress so well, and the water sparkling behind the wings is just 😙👌 chefs kiss
Put her on your dress form, so you can just appreciate it from the corner of the room. Even though you had silver and a goldish tone with the different colors, the cream base actually made it really go together pretty darn well. And I think you did a great job, picking out the right kinds of trim that would do the same affects that the Embroidery did on the original dress. I am proud of you for going a dream deep dive project!
Ever After is a movie that is so near and dear/nostalgic to me. It was the first PG-13 movie I saw in theaters as a kid, and my babysitter (who was home from college at the time) took me to see it … Just because! She literally called my mom one day and asked if she could hang out with me. I felt so cool at the time haha. Best babysitter ever! Can’t wait to get cozy to watch this video!
I love how your hair has decided to disregard the laws of growth and go its own way: chin length one week, butt length the next, and many a length in between. The hair adventures please me greatly! 🧡
Thanks to watching Rachel, I’ve learned how to dress vintage, starting modeling all my thrifty vintage consignment buys, and that led to me getting my dream job in vintage clothing. Thanks, Rachel!!❤️
@@reneedailey1696 Thank you! I’ve always loved vintage clothing, especially the 40’s and 50’s dresses… I also like looking like a paper boy at times LOL! But I didn’t know where to start. Rachel helped me achieve my dream wardrobe, which lead me to my dream job!❤️
The wrap up bit of holding up the dress has such "princess in real life" vibes and I adore it. As much as seeing a costume/gorgeously complex outfit *on* someone is a "wow" experience, seeing someone holding it, and it being a three dimentional object that isn't like, stage magic only is to me, an even more down to earth proof of intricate and beautiful things existing. I also didn't know about this film, and hence not about this dress, and whilst I'm usually a "less is more" when it comes to things, there's something infinitely compelling about the combination of details and colour scheme that gives me such a "crisp, ethereal, winter morning" vibe that I now want to see if I can imagine a white, ice blue, and silver grey dress with un-neccesary (by my usual sensibilities) amount of detail inspired by forests in sudden winter.
Oh my goodness the last shot of you in the dress with those beautiful wings at night in front of the fountain with the backlight!!!! How stunning! Shoutout to your friend who made the gorgeous wings, and those who helped with the photoshoot. Loved this ❤
I'm so glad you did this. All of it, taking the time to challenge yourself and to let yourself do the hard work. Sometimes I feel like we as creators let ourselves take all the shortcuts all of the time because we don't believe in ourselves. "I'm still a novice." My friend, you are not. Look at everything you've taught yourself to do. Look at all the ways you know to adjust a pattern to fit your vision. Look at the fact that you were not intimidated by making the under dress. You earned this dress, Rachel. You can do the hard, complicated projects. You are capable. And? This dress is beautiful. You did such a good job.
This movie was everything to me growing up! I just recently watched it again and was so excited to see Rachel trying to make this dress. That scene gets me everytime! “Breathe just breathe” this movie made me love my name Danielle!!

GAH!! One of my dream dresses! I literally shouted "aaahhhhhhhh!!!" when I saw the thumbnail and scared my kids. Watching now. Responsibilities be damned!
Rachel, I feel the emotions in this video so much! LOL Had my mom help me (aka she sewed and hemmed and boned while I cut out fabric and hammered eyelets into a bodice and made a French hood essentially all on my own) with a 1530's Tudor Court gown and I can tell you the pride I have in that gown- She has her own bin for EVERYTHING- Bumroll, hoopskirt which I need to replace with a cotton farthingale- The Jewelry I Made myself with NO Jewelry experience WHATSOEVER, pockets we made out of scrap fabric and ribbon and foresleeves and all. I am so happy and proud of that gown- I couldn't tell you how much i spent on fabric and notions but the sense of Accomplishment wearing that gown makes me so happy. I had a mental health day last week where I wore the dadgum thing just for gits and shiggles. She's my first project- hopefully I'll get the guts and gumption to start another one- though not another Tudor gown- she's a beast I'm not ready to tackle on my own just yet LOL You did beautifully and the gown you made is YOU- your version and unique "Breathe" gown. Well done Crazy lady!!! ❤❤❤

The GASP I just did when you cut your tape measure XDDD But I am SO IMPRESSED and absolutely BLOWN Away that you were able to pull off this project. Putting your blood sweat and tears into this dress made the reveal SO special, and I hope you're able to use this dress later on somewhere. It deserves to be shown off! This movie was one of my favorites to watch when I was younger, and I have very fond memories of having it on VHS and watching it until the box tattered and the film wore down. I'm consistently amazed by Rachel's ability to look at something and say, "I will make this," and then use the skills that she has to get the job done in time. If I wanted to make this dress, I'd probably start with a chemise with lace trim at the neck and wide sleeves, a sleeveless kirtle with decorative overlayer, and separate sleeve gauntlets to lace on--Because that's more or less how a gown of this style would have been constructed historically and that's what I'm familiar with as someone who sews for historical reenactment. It would never occur to me to use hot glue, or paint my embellishments to match, or sew the sleeve poofs in place. But wow, it works! And maybe it doesn't teach me how to think outside the box, but it definitely makes the box I'm thinking in bigger. Gorgeous cosplay!
Ever After is one of my favorite movies, and easily top 3 for Drew Barrymore movies. It was amazing to see you make this iconic dress. Wonderful job!!!
The dress is so beautiful but my favorite thing was the joy in you while wearing it and talking about it. The hard work you put into the construction shows. If you end up wearing it to a cosplay convention please post people's reactions on your patreon or lnstagram. I would love to see that.
This is looking awesome! I have one suggestion regarding the WORST part of cutting out the pattern pieces from the tissue paper. In order to preserve them and make sure you don't lose any pieces if you ever want to reuse the pattern, I would suggest tracing the patterns using a pounce wheel/wartenberg wheel onto butchers or grid pattern paper and leave it all intact in the original tissue paper. Then you have a replicated, sturdy version of the pattern cut out of butchers paper or grid pattern paper, and the original purchased pattern stays as the full sheets and you won't lose anything if you ever have to retrace that pattern, or a different version from that pattern bag.
This is definitely one of your best video ever Rachel! Not only the dress is beautiful, but the editing and especially that one transition in the reveal is just gorgeous. Truly shows how much you loved this project!

@@amberelf-mcp4912 yeah that one was remarkable for how much she looked like her! But that shot of her in this video in front of the fountain was stunning and I literally gasped! I couldn’t believe how much she looked like Drew
She’s a wizard with contouring and makeup, a true shape shifter.
Are you blind
Ever After is SUCH an iconic movie and honestly one of the BEST Cinderella remakes ever. The heroine is actually interesting, outspoken, intelligent, and for once, has a believable reason for remaining in the shitty situation she's in (not only is the estate technically hers, but she has to worry about feeding and taking care of the servants who are like her family). The movie was iconic, the dress was iconic, Drew Barrymore was iconic, your remake turned out SO BEAUTIFUL, and now I have to watch this movie again soon.
Agree completely, no notes 🤣
yesss, I also love how outspoken she is about the politics within the kingdom and how bad they are, similar to Ella in Ella enchanted
The boisterous laughter that erupted from my mouth when Rachel cut the measuring tape 😂
Same xD we've all been there 😅😅😅
That TRANSITION!!!!???
It looks lovely!
I agree! Put it on your dress manikin! It deserves to be viewed!
Please display this dress in your barn, it deserves it! Such a good job, Rachel!
The storytelling! The drama! The multiple organzas! Rachel, this was a masterpiece of a cosplay and of a video. Thank you.
She outdid herself with this dress, it's absolutely gorgeous and looks great on her.
Mariah Pattie made this as her wedding dress. All the embellishments were also the most challenging part. Understandably
I found Rachel because I started down a seamstress rabbit hole from one of Mariah's videos and I actually came to the comments to say this 🤣
Ever After is a movie that is so near and dear/nostalgic to me.
Omg, that's one of the sweetest things I've ever heard!!😢
Awe, good babysitters are the best! I had one that left a real impact on me too! ❤
I loved reading that. Thanks for sharing!
I love how your hair has decided to disregard the laws of growth and go its own way: chin length one week, butt length the next, and many a length in between. The hair adventures please me greatly! 🧡
It gives the aire of magic pixie chaos tornado.
I was distracted by that too😅. Lol
The long hair is a wig it’s just set back behind her bangs😅
Lol, shes pretty open about wearing wigs
@kathyjohnson2043 It's not actual growth, it's wigs and extensions. Her real hair is still shoulder length or just above.
Thanks to watching Rachel, I’ve learned how to dress vintage, starting modeling all my thrifty vintage consignment buys, and that led to me getting my dream job in vintage clothing. Thanks, Rachel!!❤️
Good for you!!!
Rachel truly is an inspiration, and it sounds like she's helped you in big ways!
Congratulations! I'm sure you worked so hard to get to where you are so take some credit for that as well! 🎉🎉 The fellowship is very proud of you.
It turned out gorgeous! And your puff-paint skill is next level, 'cause that was CONSISTENT
I grew up watching Ever After and I am not exaggerating when I say the reveal made me well up with tears IMMEDIATELY upon seeing you, the dress, and the wings! Such a beautiful, beautiful rendition of this dress!
GAH!! One of my dream dresses! I literally shouted "aaahhhhhhhh!!!" when I saw the thumbnail and scared my kids. Watching now. Responsibilities be damned!
I can not believe how absolutely beautiful this turned out.
At 18:20 I honestly thought for a moment, that it was a scene from the movie.
Me too!!!
This dress has been ingrained in my brain since childhood 😂 I describe the ~vibes~ of the dress as moonlight shining on the surface of a rippling lake
She's my first project- hopefully I'll get the guts and gumption to start another one- though not another Tudor gown- she's a beast I'm not ready to tackle on my own just yet LOL
You did beautifully and the gown you made is YOU- your version and unique "Breathe" gown. Well done Crazy lady!!! ❤❤❤
the CHILLS i got at the transition to the backlit fountain shot.. absolutely breathtaking!! im so proud of you for conquering this dress, it looks amazing
If you don’t end up on The Drew Barrymore Show wearing this glorious gown I will lose it.
@drewbarrymoreshow
@thedrewbarrymoreshow
Worth a shot !!!! 😈
I KNOW EVERYONE IN THE COMMENTS ARE TALKING ABOUT THE DRESS BUT I STILL FEEL LIKE THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE LIKE OH. MY. GOD. THE CAMERA SHOTS WITH THE FOUNTAIN WERE ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. THIS DRESS- HAS SO MUCH DETAIL AND SO MUCH WORK AND ITS LITERALLY 100% HANDS DOWN THE BEST DRESS I THINK YOU'VE EVER MADE LIKE OH MY GOD LIKE I CANNOT
Puffy paint????! Thats so SICK! I've always liked the idea but I've never known how to make it ...... look good. YOU DID GREAT!!
Can I say how much I love that you let yourself be you while filming? The silly, the chaos, the distractions, the goblin-ing... love it all.
Oh my GOD the R2D2 screams absolutely made me lose it, they were so spot on I wouldn’t have known that wasn’t R2D2 if it was in a video. Also that made me cackle so hard
When there is a chapter called "Frog Brothel", you know you're in for a ride of a video
I'm so glad you got that night shot it looked so much like the movie! Your friend did amazing on the wings and it really brought the whole outfit together. It turned out so gorgeous!! You did amazing!!!
It's strange, but I always liked her blue work-dress the most. That, and the green-gold court dress. I mean, all the dresses in that movie were amazing. It's hard not to love them all.
I GASPED when I saw the title and thumbnail for this :O That's my favorite movie and I love her dress!!
Oh my god?????? I can't believe I missed this one because it's MY DREAM DRESS and has been for two decades!!!! I'm SO OBSESSED you did an incredible job!!
Gosh cried at the reveal! You're in your ever after ERA! I identify with you on chaos and perfectionist at the same time. From one artist to another run with the Renaissance until your artist brain forcefully reaches for something else you just can't not do! That's what I do. I have 20 things going on and nothing going on all at the same time
The moment I saw the thumbnail I texted my bestie "It's happening! It's happening!". Rachel cosplaying Ever After's Breathe Dress! So many of my favourites in one sentence!!! It turned out so stunning, you look like an actual princess. Looking forward to the BTS in the Fellowship too! Thanks for all the serotonin ✨🌙💛✨
Dude it might just be the wine but I legit got teary eyed at the reveal in front of the fountain. You did amazing!
You did it, you beautiful, crazy beast. You sure as heck did it. Congratulations on accurately replicating one of the best movie costumes ever.
incredible result !! and the make up makes you looks like the heroine in Damsel ! you are so talented, pretty AND you can shapeshift !!
Since I was a kid I always had the feeling that Ever After was vastly underrated, yet it's such a gem ! 🩵 Reading all these enthusiastic comments about both the dress and the movie brings me so much joy ! 😍
Yet another chaotic sewing adventure but the outcome is amazing and you looked stunning in the dress and make up. I am not someone who sews but I do enjoy the process and seeing creators like you making these wonderful vintage and cosplay outfits
I've been waiting for this dress, and Sarah's ball gown from the labyrinth. I'm so happy right now. Quesadilla and dresses
It’s honestly amazing watching you from when you first started taking sewing seriously on UA-cam and seeing how far you’ve come with your skills
THE FOUNTAIN SHOT?? Oml, this is such a beautiful creation!
6:06 the unexpected joy of Rachel's hair giving A Bug's Life vibes 😁
I was thinking the Mayor of Whoville from the live action Grinch lolol
As someone with little to no sewing experience currently screaming into the void at her own sewing project, this gave me so much relief and joy. It's always wonderful to see your videos. They give me so much creative energy and the belief that I CAN DO IT.
But seriously, you inspire me SO MUCH, so thank you! Keep being awesome with your huge projects as well as your tiny adorable ones like crafting little mice knights and stuff!
The sound design of Rachel’s videos is so comfy
It’s just * chefs kiss *
I'm so happy that you made this dress. Out of all the Cinderella movies, Ever After has always been by far my favorite. It came out beautifully!
The GASP I just did when you cut your tape measure XDDD
But I am SO IMPRESSED and absolutely BLOWN Away that you were able to pull off this project.
Danielle de Barbarac is one of my favorite iterations of Cinderella, along with Brady's Cinderella from the 1997 musical :D
I SCREAMED at my husband when I saw you made this dress. "MY FAVORITE UA-camR MADE MY DREAM COSTUME!" 😭 It is beautiful. I also laughed out loud at you cutting your measuring tape. Bless this video 🙏🏻
Drew's ethereal sparkle makeup in that scene was my #glamgoals for school dances! So beautiful!
Oh no, my 3 yr old is perfecting her R2D2 scream now 😅. Seeing as she's twirling in her dress while doing this I think it's fitting 😂
So excited about this video
GOOSEBUMPS at the transition cut to you absolutely GLOWING in front of the fountain. You look amazing! I can tell you put your heart and soul into this piece and it was so worth it!!
PS hair goals in this video! Especially the shoulder-length hair at 6:36, it suits you so well!
This is my absolute favorite version of the Cinderella story. And that dress was STUNNING
I love that you're getting more confident about inviting people to your Patreon. Artists deserve to make money, too! You deserve it and you're making amazing stuff!
You are a sewing goddess. I wouldn't have started my sewing journey if I hadn't found your channel and for that I am forever thankful ❤️ I have forever been in love with the breathe dress from ever after and very envious that you made it. Wear it with Grace and beauty like I know you will!!!!
IT TURNED OUT SO BEAUTIFULLY
gonna have to rewatch Ever After this weekend.
It's free on UA-cam right now, fyi. ☺️
This is definitely one of your best video ever Rachel! Not only the dress is beautiful, but the editing and especially that one transition in the reveal is just gorgeous. Truly shows how much you loved this project!
I YELLED in excitement when I saw this!? I literally just rewatched “Ever After” so the enchantment is fresh on the mind✨
HERE AGAIN!!! Once again Rachel has brought back a memory from the depths of my brain. I watched this movie when I was ten, and had completely forgotten about everything except that beautiful winged dress. Thank you Rachel, for ZE DRESS 🤌✨
It's so satisfying seeing you make something larger and more complicated like this. Plus you seem so much happier with the result
I'm finding it hard to articulate how much joy this brought to the 8 year old me! So many feels
18:17 Madam-that transition. How are you gonna steal my breath with the Just Breathe dress x.x absolutely beautiful and you channel Danielle so well. Congrats on completing another dream dress~
I’m sorry but you made my year (which has been pretty horrible with a very I’ll husband hospitalized since mid January) and gave me the best belly laugh when you cut through your measuring tape! Thank you, I really needed the laugh. The dress is beautiful and I love it when you said the dress was filled with your memories of England.
I'm an even later latecomer to Ever After (as in I've wanted to watch it since I found out about it four-ish years ago but have not yet actually seen it) and yet that last shot of you in the dress with that really stark bright lighting brought me to tears!!! You did a really impressive thing and you should be proud!!!!
I literally said "noooo stop it" when I saw that you made this dress like no you don't understand I love it so much. You're gorgeous and I'm so happy you've made this.
Omg the transition at 18:17 made me gasp and tear up
So beautiful!!!
It turned out amazing and I got literal shivers at the transition to the fountain! *-*
Absolutely gorgeous, Rachel!! Ever After has been such a dear movie to me and has been for years, so seeing one of my favorite costume gremlins make a dress that's such a huge part of my love for costumes is wonderful! You did a fantastic job.
Oh wow, this is maybe the most gorgeous thing you've ever made!!! So stunning, and it deserved an England reveal. What a perfect background for it.
I absolutely love to see you proud of your work. Not just because you worked hard and earned it but also because you are skilled and it looks genuinely amazing. It’s too easy for me to focus on everyone who does it better than me. So you being unashamedly proud of what you produced is inspiring.
Awww ❤️ This was my mom's favorite movie and we loved to watch it together (and quote it constantly). She will have been gone for three years tomorrow, but is was such a lovely surprise to see this notification pop up ❤️ This came out BEAUTIFULLY!
That gown is INCREDIBLE!! You should definitely be very, very proud!! You looked amazing!!
GORGEOUS version!! I made this dress some 18yrs ago (to the inth' degree of accuracy) and shipped it ahead of myself for DragonCon in Atlanta ... and it went MISSING, never to be found. I had the wings and shoes.. and no dress. I never had the heart to remake it (and I'm nearly 60 now!) buuuut ... but watching, your enthusiasm and passion is SO infectious (and adorable!) ... aaand .. I think I might need to give this another go, just for closure and my own satisfaction! THANK YOU for sharing the journey!
This film was my CHILDHOOD!! 😍 the only Cinderella I knew growing up! Anyway imma be right back tomorrow to watch this fully!
This has just completed my mum's bucket list
She loves that movie (love almost every Cinderella movie there is but this is definitely her favorite)
She would kill to have that dress
And she's always wanted to try sewing, but never really got around to it now she can go all the way
Gonna have to learn the basics to be able to do this one
Oh my Gosh IT'S GORGEOUS! And the reveal was performed so beautifully, I was truly enchanted
How I choke on my cinnamon bun laughing when you cut through the measuring tape 😂 the way you're so chaotic but whatever you're working on always come together in the end is why I watch you
The gown turned out amazing and the photo shoot was incredible!!!
It's absolutely stunning you've done and incredible job! It's so so beautiful! Ever After has been my favourite film since I was 12, 22 years ago since i first saw it! I watch it once a month and never get bored of it! Love from Wales 🏴 x
