[link to thierry mugler docu below] you are a heroine! i'm amazed and delighted by your endeavor and your personality! thx for taking us along. i just saw an amazing ARTE docu about thierry mugler that also showcases the chimera-dress and thought i'll post the link for you although the docu is in german. but sooo many amazing dresses of decades of his work: ua-cam.com/video/MNBhy0DCCA8/v-deo.htmlsi=QAf_ys0Z290rX_lW
That. Grey. Gold. Black. Transition at the bottom is already ammmazingly amazing, I will be honest I could NOT imagine how all those veeery differenr scakes coukd come together but they are doing it 😭 woooowza
13:45!!!! That's one of my pink scales pinned to the box!! (I recognise the wonky point and the wonky zigzag at the top) I was never imagining one of my scales would be so visible!!
Something about this project is making my inner magpie's heart a-flutter. It's like a dragon's hoard of pretty shiny things carefully collected and displayed, and I LOVE IT. I'm calling it now, this version of the Chimera dress is going to be even more amazing than the original.
Ariel, you truly are what they call a Renaissance artist! I thought the abdomen part will be made out of worbla and spray painted or something like that, but you went the extra mile for authenticity. I love how creative, resourceful and fearless you are.
Watching the process of you making your own version of this dress makes you completely understand the time , effort and expense of making garments like this and it puts me in awe
You did very well on the metal parts! It's a testament to your creativity and problem solving skills that you made something this good looking with your limited tools and experience. I'm honoured to see my own brass scale ended up centre front. I love this project so much!
Not gonna lie, I wasn’t sure the mismatched colors would work. But I should have trusted your artistry : the design you created is amazing and the result is already mind blowing
I am so enthralled by this project! I love how precise and economical your work ethic is. The brass work is epic! The colour grading is epic! It's all too epic!! Thank you for sharing your work 😊
I regret not sending you scales, but I didn't have time because I'm in the middle of moving. But to be a part of something so beautiful would have made me really happy, I'm excited to see the end result. It's going to be so beautiful. ❤
One of my happiest places is when Ariel posts new video, and watching Ariel create, and get excited about creating. ... and wow, let's just pop over to Paris for some fabric?! Remind me to move to France.
“You can imagine that it’s finished…but it’s not.” This is how I do every project ever. Use my hand to block off the unfinished bit and just pretend it’s all done several times during the process lol. It’s the only way I can keep going in tedious projects. It’s lovely to know it’s a universal feeling experience.
It’s coming together so well! I can’t believe how seamlessly the scales go together! From a distance, they all look metallic due to all the amazing bedazzling! Oh my gosh, le final reveal will be incredible!!!!
It's so cool that she actually went to fashion school and like, knows all the secret stuff (like where to buy good materials and which specific material is best etc) that is a different perspective from someone who is self taught. Idk, she just seems like she's really able to bring this dress to life in a really powerful way.
I think this is the sign for me to finally start the outfit that I'm procrastinating because I'm scared that I might not be able to do it or fail to finish it. But this video gave me courage 🥺🌠 I'll do it 🌈
As a Tinsmith, fantastic job with your makeshift Creasing Swedge (making all those raised triangular shapes with the piece of wood)! One word to the wise, make sure not to breathe in any of the metal dust while grinding. 😅 Otherwise you will have some major lung problems. Other than that, you did FANTASTICALLY and I'm going to copy some of your setup for my home workshop. 😁👍🏻
I think she may want to try her hand with copper. It's much easier to hammer & cut ! Plus, with heat & cooling of the metal, you can get some cool effects. Also, treating with different chemicals, you can get a verdigris finish, plus other colors. A book on weather vanes might be a good start for her. I hope she reads this comment while in the USA, I know the materials for making weather vanes & the books are easier to find in the USA. Though, I would love to hear about if the French have weather vanes or "whirlygigs" there ! ( A whirlygig is a small wind powered toy - sometimes wood, or tin, or copper ! A craft that 'Grandpa's' in the country used to make ! )
Aww, when you’re trying it on around the 13min mark and you’re like ‘its going to be so pretty’ my heart just sang for you, and I got a bit teary. There’s nothing quite like that ‘ITS WORKING I CAN SEE IT’ feeling 😆❤️🙏 so excited to see how you continue this piece x
I think you've struck exactly the right balance between showing the garment and entertaining us here. Love the little comedic touches and excited for the reveal!
If Mugler doesn't snatch you up right this second are you KIDDING??? It's already coming together so well! And I'm so obsessed with that colour-shifting black scale right at the end, a full outfit with that would be killer, props to the super talented person who made it!
Its like watching harry potter or LOTR and having to wait an entire year for the next movie to come out!! You are so talented, so funny, so cute, so beautiful! Thank you for sharing this journey with us, thank you for including people in your work to make this community, thank you for honoring your hearts desire to make things that blow us all away! You are needed in this world, you are a QUEEN!!!
How you managed to blend and transition so smoothly between such vastly different colors and textures of those scales is truly amazing. I think if I tried to do that my brain would start smoking.
The dress is turning out absolutely gorgeous! I especially love the dark scales section. (If there are any left over at the end, you should make a cape for the cat with them so he can be fancy too
Oh my god, each time I see the finished parts of the dress I get a feeling probably akin to what you have described upon seeing the original for the first time. So much work and soul has been put into it already and it is very unique but also undoubtedly breathtakingly beautiful. The scale textures, the metal, the overall structure (and the fact that this thing is going to MOVE???) completely blur the lines between different art forms for me. I know I’m just rambling at this point but this is like the epitome of art to me. The personal value, the hard work, the community, the inspiration, the craftsmanship, the history, the nature, the dedication, the clash of a thousand different techniques with a thousand different origins… Honestly, if I had to explain to an alien what it is that I love about humanity, I would probably show them your work. Phenomenal. P.S. I feel so sorry for your hands after that brass cutting session, hopefully they got some rest and a massage
I’m so excited every time a new video for this comes out!! Also I love the needle casualty total, both because I can feel your pain but also because I cross-stitch and like to tape my broken needles to the pattern that broke them like some sort of sick trophy so this is exactly the kind of energy I’d bring to a big sewing project😂🙌
You're one of my sewing inspirations, this is outstanding!!! I sewed my first cosplay for an event last weekend, and I was so proud, but it is nothing compared to your creations!!!
Worbla who? This woman is so metal. I cannot wait until January... no, really I can't wait lol cue "the Office Oh God NO" meme. Loving this, and of course I will wait. It is already worth it! I hope the US is treating you well, love from Chicago.
I love this series. It introduced me to your channel, to the original dress, and it’s so exciting to see this progress. I don’t sew at all so it was hard for me to imagine the chaos of all those different scales coming together, but it’s GORGEOUS. I mean absolutely stunning. Also, the black edged horsehair did look so cool.
The algorithm actually recommended something beyond amazing! First time watching this divine channel; already subscribed! Love the project, but even more the presentation style is wonderful; warm, friendly and enthusiastic without saccharine. Loved the landmark free trip to Paris! Love from Australia 🇦🇺
This isbone of the most amazing dress making videos. As someone who is very particular about color gradients, I love the way you did the scale color changes.❤ It is quite satisfying.🎉
I cannot express how impressed and awed I am by this endeavour! The result is going to be amazing. I am so proud to have done my tiny little part of contributing some scales.
EXQUISITE! OMG! This is so exciting and wonderful my heart has happy tears for this project. It is AWESOME and so personal. I love it. Ariel you are AMAZING! Thank you for letting us share this project with you. Happy Sewing! XO
Oh My Gosh! You are truly a Master of Artistry!!! That metal work is beautiful! Your thought process, your skills, your workmanship, just WOW!!! Cant wait to see your next video!!! ✨💞✨
wow... it looks amazing... when it's done it will be stunning... i'm so happy for you... you are so talented... your hard work is paying off... hugs from Dallas...
Not only is it already looking absolutely beautiful but I love the fact that this is basically a community project! So many people are part of this! I couldn't imagine how all of these scales, which are so different in style, color and size would go together but you really make it work! 😍
I saw this dress in a Mugler exhibition in Munich in 2020. It was so stunning, easily the most captivating dress in a room full of masterpieces. I'm so excited!
The amount of people that took part in this project is on another level, you are doing all their work, beautiful justice 😍 this piece is going to deserve to be in a museum!
So far this dress is turning out even better than I expected!!! Your placement of the scales looks perfect! Like coloring with fabric!! Such a special project from beginning to end!! Can’t wait for the final reveal.
I adore this woman. Her enthusiasm, humor, talent, spirit, and hard work are such a joy to watch. And she's beautiful. Thank you for sharing your ideas and projects with us. ❤
I am in awe of your talent, perseverance, focus and imagination. In AWE! Also, when I close my eyes I have a clear vision of scales being served to the dress. In my mind's eye the dress has become a hungry dragon 🙃
How gorgeous! I kept pausing on the shots of the scales, admiring the work that everyone put in. I wouldn't mind a full video of just close ups of the scales. They are fantastic.
I adore watching you work on this project. And as someone who really enjoyed "I Spy" books growing up, there's a special kind of joy I get seeing all the different scales everyone made.
This is really a huge job! Wow! I made men's armor with leather scales. Cuirass, removable sleeves and boots. It was a very boring and tedious process. So I admire your hard work and patience! A very cool project!

Every time I watch an episode about this scale dress, the talent of all of the seamstresses blows me away.
Ariel is a world cosplay champion- definitely one of the most skilled costuming/fashion creators out there!
This is my most highly anticipated series on UA-cam rn
I so agree 🫶
THIS!!
Same!! I'm so hyped!
Same
Ikr I am PUMPED
The ideas of a transparent dress and making things out of metal could maybe combine nicely. Something like a ghost-armour dress
“…and Im french”, she says, while holding a baguette with a microphone strapped to it… subtle as always I love it
Baguettophone?
Watching these as someone who made scales are so fun because it’s like where’s Waldo trying to spot the ones you made!
I made the bee one at the top of the screen at 23:06
@@winstermagic7886 It's soo gorgeous 🤩
seeing the mockup of colours is so helpful with that too, I know my scales were pink and red, so I'll look for them in the sleeves and back
That is so true! One of mine is the black rainbow "scale on scale" design at 23:34
@@palux188 aww thank you!

Even at this state it looks otherworldly beautiful. ❤

How does this not already have millions of views? It's so freaking cool! Love this build and can't wait to see more :D
Aaaaaa the scales look so great together! This dress will be insanely beautiful. I love the shiny brass pieces, too.
The scales of the dress reminds me of Rainbow Fish 👗 🌈
I think getting 13k scales was the best outcome for you because then it's easier to find the scales you need for the transitions and color blocks
This dress, when finished, will deserve to be placed in a museum. Not hyperbole. This is insane!
The noise when you moved in the dress was unexpected and fan. Excited to think of all the scale makers spotting their scales.

The dress turned out so amazing, and you absolutely SLAYED. So happy for you and a big thsnk you to everyone who made the scales possible.
You’ve went above and beyond making this!! When you said the middle was metal I was like no way.. It truly is a piece of art!!

Amazing how only the first rows of scales already made the dress come alive!!
What a great collab idea. Therry would love that dress.

Wow, this project is just awesome and your approach to it is very inspiring. Well done! I can't wait to see the final result
its looking sooooooo goooood!!!! can't wait to see the finished dress when the final video comes out!!
All of the scales are works of art. This dress is a masterpiece! Love to all who have worked on the scales and to the brilliant Hazariel.
Amazing that 290ish people sent in 13,000 scales, that's about 45 each??? Congratulations to those that made some, they are looking so cool!!!
So far this dress is turning out even better than I expected!!! Your placement of the scales looks perfect! Like coloring with fabric!! Such a special project from beginning to end!! Can’t wait for the final reveal.
When those scales starting going on - it looks amazing!!!! And the brass is so SHINY! Have fun in America!

You’re literally amazing this is absolutely stunning already and the metalwork is just a whole new level!
I wish I could like this as many times as there are scales, this is magnificent!
The dress looks absolutely insanely amazing! I can't wait to see it all finished!

It's crazy how quickly this dream project became reality... Looking so so great!!!
This dress already looks fantastic! 🤩
This made me emotional! To see this amazing project come together and know that so many people came together to make it happen had me tearing up.
O m g this is so breathtaking already!😮
I adore watching you work on this project. And as someone who really enjoyed "I Spy" books growing up, there's a special kind of joy I get seeing all the different scales everyone made.
Its coming out gorgeous, can't wait to see it complete in part 2.
I have to keep pausing it to appreciate all the insanely beautiful scales!
Youre bold for recreating this legendary mugler garment. Good job!
Ariel (and all of you who made the scales!), this is looking fabulous!! I can't wait to see the final result!! 😊
This is really a huge job! Wow!
I made men's armor with leather scales. Cuirass, removable sleeves and boots. It was a very boring and tedious process. So I admire your hard work and patience!
A very cool project!
Seeing the scales on the skirt and how you arranged them so beautifully. I’m just to thrilled for this project and how you have made this happen.
