      Asetek pedals suck! I won't ever understand the hype. This overly stiff phase is bull and people fall for it. It's horrible for actual good trail braking. Also peolle seem to fill to mention real car like road cars or gt3 cars pedals are progressive. Meaning softer at first then get harder. It helps so much with trail braking progression. Tbh brake pedals should have some travel it shouldn't be a straight brick wall. People go oh I'm more consistent sure it may feel that way because you have less to work with but once you adapt to actual full range control over every single 1% of the braking it's game changing.
      We also aren't sitting in a gt3 car or an f1 car with insane g forces pushing us foward into the brakes which helps those stiffer brakes feel softer because our eventide body weight is transitioning foward helping tremendously. The only reason some promote asetek pedals is because they are sponsored and paid to. They are 2x as hard to use then a real car because again you have no force going into the brake it's all leg. It doesn't feel the same as people say. It's just uncomfortable and not natural. We are sim racing we should feel good and comfortable and have full control.

    I jumped from a 5nm DD base to a 27nm base and remember the immediate wow factor. It didn’t make me any faster, but it completely changed the experience and made sim racing massively more fun. I only ever run it around 60% too, that seems like the sweet spot

      Yes, that's the way to do it. Let me give you an example. I have a Simucube 2 Pro. For Assetto Corsa, I keep the wheelbase at 100%, and then in the game, I set the gain at 40%. I adjust the in-game force feedback (ffb) for each car to suit my needs. For most cars, I set the ffb at 55 in the game. For iRacing, I keep the base at 100% and then adjust the max force for each car within the game. If you lower the power of the wheelbase, you lose the dynamic range of the FFB.

    I landed a VRS wheel base unit and I just purchased the Ascher McLaren Artura Pro to run with my 5" Ascher dashboard! Right now I'm still running my GT-DD Fanatec with a CS 2.5 with added Podium paddles. But I added VRS Pedals and they are superb!! While I was researching the world over for a wheel base, one person told me he has both Simucube 2 Pro and a VRS and he said in his opinion he could blind fold me and he didn't think I'd be able to tell the difference. And that Ascher wheel I got is a new release and I went with the USB wired right cause I have a VRS, but Ascher included a mini USB cable cause it can also connect inside to run with a SC2 or Asetek. I'm gonna upgrade my system so I don't have it put together yet, but it's coming along and this VRS is very impressive in the box. It's gonna be very nice! To me it wasn't just about the price difference. I can run with a SC2 if I want. Maybe I'll still land one. But I really like the VRS custom Meanwell 400Wt power supply! Heavy duty cables that will work well with my desk set up as my ASR4 Chassis sits under it a bit. VRS Pedals also really lit me up once I learned to calibrate them cause I tend to break heavy, so I set my pedals up as such to conform with me. Not "me" having to learn to break lighter. One can learn such, but I had these muscle memory traits and it's adjusted nicely for me. That actually helped improve lap time.

    Like you, the first thing I noticed about the VRs base was that it made SIM racing so much more fun. At first I just went with some suggested settings, but you’ll find that after awhile you will get more of a feel for what the controls can do for you and how each class of car needs its own settings. And each SIM has its own quirks too, so you will really enjoy how much you can get in tune with it soon. Looking forward to your next video after you’ve had it a while!

    yeah i got the brakes and i absolutely love them. braking feels amazing. it's easy to replicate specific thresholds like 50% or 75% or have the smoothest trailbraking kurves. i do feel that they hurt a bit on my feet when I drive in socks though so I wear 15 € swim shoes for from amazon and the 2-3mm rubber sole is absolutely enough.
    I also use the red spring and I played around with angels of the pads but that is just preference.

    The VRS throttle is the smoothest there is on the market, thanks to the unique rod-less design. But it's just too light for many people, and since the throttle load-cell is also very weak, you can't really put a stiffer spring either. Biggest issue of the pedals, IMO. If someone likes a light throttle, these are great.

    • @stuffeyy
      @stuffeyy  4 місяці тому +2

      Interesting that people feel it's too light. Iver never felt the need for a stiff throttle but each to their own. Will see how my experience progresses with them and my opinion may chnage

    • @DragonFlySlayer-wf6ne
      @DragonFlySlayer-wf6ne 23 дні тому

      Yea, mine doesn't seem too light at all. What's a weak load cell? The top of my frame on my throttle I added a really nice bolt with washers and a airplane nut to keep the small square shaped of frame, the 1" piece that the spring connects to had a tiny bit of movement happening and I could hear it. A sort of kink sound when I 'd work the pedal so I placed a nice looking bolt up top of the frame as there are holes but nothing needed in VRS's opinion so I slightly snugged it , slightly.... and now there's no more play in that part the end of my throttle spring is connected to. The sound wasn't anything, but the actual fact in my opinion is I don't want friction or wear happening in that part considering how VRS designed it. I think the VRS pedals are very well to do!

    Went from ClubSport v3's to the VRS DFP pedals and holy smokes I had no idea what I was missing out on for so long.
    I really believe in their approach to not having elastomers, especially after the testing I've seen done showing the inconsistency of elastomers. I have zero complaints on the DFP pedals, I'd absolutely buy them again if anything happened to mine.
    I recently upgraded from CSL DD to the CSDD, but the VRS wheelbase is my end game base eventually.

    Second comment, I hadn't finish the video yet.
    Regarding your point about wheel with dash: fully agree. If you're not in a formula position it's basically "you take off your eyes from the road too much". Plus you can only see it when you're on a straight.
    I went for a 5inch dashboard on Aliexpress for 200 Canadian Dollars and I couldn't be happier. Yes, it's partially in front of the monitor (i run a 49 uw like you), so whenm i'm not racing it's "in the way". BUT, it's basically sitting where any dash would be in any car on iRacing, so I'm super thrilled with that.

Anyway just got my VRS pedals the other day and I was blown away with the initial feel. Will take some time to dial them in but so far its looking promising. Also have had a simucube base for awhile now and I could go up to 25NM but 17NM was the number for me. It's still a bit much sometimes but once I set each car to utilize the full range of ffb in game I keep it at that value and its a good gauge of track grip for when its hot or rainy. The force pretty much tells me how much I can push.

      @@HDRGamingHub there are two schools of thought when it comes to this, one of which is what your saying. 100% base and in game most corners will only use like 20% ffb signal (or however heavy you like it) and you will almost never clip. However the downside is for people who use a heavy ffb when you hit a curb or a bump and it does get max ffb signal from the game you get a huge jolt which is rough at 25NM and if there are a lot of spots I have to hit curbs its going to suck. The other way to set it up is set the force in game to use 90%+ in most heavy corners and let it clip over curbs and hard hits, then you set your base to whatever you can handle. Neither way is bad as long as you're not clipping the game signal at peak force in corners, there are many variations to both methods but keep in mind very few are realistic as in sim we are looking for more info from the wheel than is typically there irl. Me personally I run 17NM with almost no filters which gives me a very raw detailed signal from the game to my wheel, and people I know who run full strength usually run a lot of filters to deal with the harshness of 25NM for when it does peak and there mid corner forces usually pan out to be close to what I run but usually less.

    If you want next level comfort with the VRS pedals, you should see if you can partner with HRS, which makes pedal face plates out of billet aluminum for the VRS pedals. They seem stupid expensive for a simple pedal plate but they feel amazing underfoot and keep me from slipping at all on the throttle in long stints. Those extra longer cables that connect to the power supply will fit perfect around the desk and the power supply will sit on my EVS 4X12 speaker cab. It's a large guitar amp cab. Then on my desk I have two beautiful black speaker mounts on each side up high with two Mackie HR8 studio monitors for sound. My Ascher wheel is the USB type and there's also a mini USB cable so I could attach the Ascher USB to a wireless if I ever wanted to go that route. Personally I like the USB cable connection concept myself. It all works anyway. I think too having the 5" Ascher dashboard separate as opposed to a pretty wheel with it all built in like an F1 style has been known to drop off and fail in a given USB as they are power hogs according to boosted Media on youtube. Only thing I need now is the QR application and I'll be ready to switch her out.

My Fanatec GT-DD and wheel and V3 Fanatec pedals are still keepers! I'll store it nicely in the box as I fear this stuff could disappear in 2025 with what might be coming. It's all preference but you want to be able to balance the pressure applied on the brake consistently. Having top soft a brake pedal can mean you apply the brake too harshly, can't maintain pressure I.e trail braking and this all results in lock ups, not being able to turn the car in correctly or overcompensating in braking too early. The rim I agree with, while it is a quality rim, it was too much for what is is at launch especially when comapred to competitors. I've had discussions with VRS and they told me upfront that they acknowledge this too.

      @@stuffeyyyeah mate. Pedals is awesome compared to my Fanatec V3s pedals. I ordered the VRS rim compared to Cube controls Fcore since adding clutch to the latter will add some euros and I think VRS rim is more sturdy and more premium and neat looking.
