  • Hi all
    Thought it was worth doing another video of maintenance bits on the Senton.
    As with the Unboxing and Top Tips and the Review and Top Tips these apply to all the Arrma Mega, 3s and 4s cars.
    In this video I look at the steering bearings, servo, and diff gears along with an alternative body shell.
    Hope this is helpful to somebody.
    Many thanks for watching :-)

    The 1/10 Senton 3S BLX with the Granite Fortress MT tires and 15T pinion... trimmed the Senton body and it's now my favorite Arrma...love my 1/8 Kraton6S V5 but this modified Senton is a hoot savage underated fun

    Hi Pete, I've watched all three, and they're all excellent and informative. Great maintenance tips and how to's. That centre drive shaft bearing looks like it will need replacing very soon. Those Arrma's look like they're well built and tough machines. I'll put one on my list! I like the key hole surgery, any chance you can pop up to Cambridgeshire and perform a small hernia & gallbadder job ! Seriously, great video. Until the next time, keep safe & well. 😉

      Hiya John. Yeah I'd recommend these for bashing about so you can preserve the Tamiya's for the lighter runs and keep them looking nice. Generally pretty easy to work on too. It's not quite like getting a kit and building it but you do get some deconstructing and reconstructing fun. Cheers for watching and your great feedback. Hope all is well with you my friend 😀

    Thanks, my Senton front input gear feels sticky, but I think the shim was installed on the other side of the diff, which would tighten the gear up. I’ll try swap it to the other side. Great vid.

    Hiya, Pete. Nice tips and some expert mechanics from you, looks like you are a pro with those hex drivers now! All very well explained and demonstrated. I use that GT85 spray, too, I find it penetrates better than WD40. Loved the keyhole surgery! Cool with the new body, that Tamiya metallic orange is a very nice shade. I enjoyed this one mate - hope all is well with you - all the best from Mark. :-)

      Ah cheers for watching mate. I know it's not a car that you own so I appreciate it. Would you consider getting a basher like this to save your Tamiyas from a beating? You do really need lipos for these mind you. Anyway those new hex drivers are pretty nice but the handles are a bit slippery what with not having rubber on like my previous ones. Hey you know I always end up with rounded off hex drivers and I'm wondering if I had a grinding wheel whether I could grind off the ends and get to a new bit that is still hex shaped. What do you reckon? Anyway I was thinking about doing that video chat thing if you are up for it? Like I say it doesn't need to go on UA-cam if we aren't happy with it. Need to chat about how it all works before that. I'm sure that we have many fascinating things to talk about! Hope that Tuesday is treating you well mate. How long before the holidays? Bet you are counting the days! I need to use up my remaining holiday at work so from next week I've got 4 day weeks till Xmas and then not back till the 2nd. Looking forward to some days off and getting stuff done. Cheers for now mate 😀

      @@PeteWylieRC No worries, mate - we always support each other, and anyway, I just like being nosey and seeing what you are up to! I think the stuff is too expensive for me - I do like them though, we will see. I have a couple of little bashers sent free for test, HBX stuff, with 2 LiPo's each! Coming soon, they are a lot of fun! Hoping to get more, Euro RC said they could send me a car too! Anyway, Deffo up for the chat vid, maybe we could have a phone chat this weekend to go over it? It would be good to catch up anyway. I'm super busy in the week as work is a nightmare and Lou is still off sick :-/

    You should clean your truck after every run! I use Simple Green or Fabuloso and spray down the entire truck top to bottom from to back. Then I simply take a lower pressure garden hose and wash it all off, dry it and it looks and feels like a brand new RC every time I do that :)

    any suggestion on the rear toe in to save tire wear?

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there. I think you can only change the camber on the rear using the upper suspension rods. The toe in is fixed by the lower arms. You can change the front toe in on the front using the steering rods obviously. Anyway I've not really changed any of it much from how it came. Sorry that's not much help. Thanks for watching the vid.

  • @emgee44
    @emgee44 3 роки тому

    I liked that you looked at changing the body for the Big Rock, not seen anyone cover that before. What do think of doing it the other way round, buy a Big Rock but then fit a Senton body, what do you think would be the problems?

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  3 роки тому +1

      Hi there. Well if you had a Big Rock and kept the big wheels then obviously you would have the clearance issues with the arches of the Senton body. Also even with Senton wheels you'd have problems as I believe that the Big Rock has longer suspension arms so the wheels wouldn't tuck under the arches and would catch the edges. Obviously I haven't got one to test my theory but that's what I reckon. Many thanks for your feedback 😁

    • @emgee44
      @emgee44 3 роки тому

      @@PeteWylieRC Agreed that the wheel arches would have to be trimmed but I wouldn't be looking to change the wheels though. Rich Duperbash did convert his V2 Senton last year with Granite wheels etc I think, it looked kinda cool I thought

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah I did see that and it looked great. It's just the issue of the mud getting thrown under the body and into the chassis at this time of year when everywhere is wet. Going to test the Big Rock body soon hopefully to see how it goes 😁

    • @emgee44
      @emgee44 3 роки тому

      @@PeteWylieRC Look forward to seeing the vid on the Big Rock, did you make video on how you painted it, I would interested to see how you did the widows. Incidentally with regards dirt getting into the chassis, have you considered getting a Dusty Motors dust cover?

      @@emgee44 I didn't video the painting but it was a very easy one with no masking required. The windows are just stickers on the outside. Yes it might be worth looking at the dusty motors cover. Good thinking 😁

    Nice vid series. I live in indonesia so getting Arrma here is about twice as much. I went with Cninese HSP and Wltoys, three in total. Various stages of success......the last SCT the pro version the worst. Terrible loose tolerances on all suspension, some nice parts but so what. Steering servo sucks, but that is ok and again the suspension is so loose. Yes it runs like stink but...not quality product. I am buying these clones because of "economics" but anyone telling you these cars are ok are full of it. So I need to figure out how to get this Senton.

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  3 роки тому

      Hi there. Thanks for the information about those other brands. Shame that Arrma is expensive where you are. If you do get one I'm now thinking that maybe the Big Rock is a better all rounder. Don't know if you saw the video where I had a Big Rock body and Granite wheels on the Senton. Works better for me in rainy England. Thanks again for your comments. Best wishes to you 😁

      I haven't had a Slash 4x4 to compare. The RC Kiwis were racing the Slash vs. the Senton. Can't remember if they came to a conclusion. I do really like these Arrma 3s cars and they seem much better value than Traxxas.

      @@rufffinoo yeah like I say in the videos there are a few things to sort out but all the 3s range are brilliant. One thing to think about is whether to go for the big rock instead. 1 issue I had with the Senton is that with the body covering the wheels, all the mud and debris goes inside and it's an awful cleanup job if it's wet. I ended up putting a Big Rock body on mine for the winter season. I've got some inner wheel arches to try also. Just a thought 😀
