    Good advise!
    The main ones for me-
    Flying over water, I've overcome this just by having faith in my drone.
    Disorientation of my drone, just by learning the app and the different map views and again having faith in the drone and it's capabilities.
    Understanding RTH fully and the app settings that might affect that, also remember you still have control of your drone even though you may have lost FPV, this catches out quite a few new pilots.

    Good tips!
    Informing people about my droning was a big win at one occasion. The take off, and landing spot was terrible, surrounded by fast growing weed. One day I spotted a car on the property of a nearby house. It turned out the owner was the church, using it for youth activities now and then. The person then told I could use their huge balkony, on the other side of the house! Perfect! Close to the lake, giving the drone a range of some 2 miles, hunting trains.
    Informing other people I met a drone flying guy! He told his closest neighbour was abroad and the other property was left empy. Now I can buzz around their properties without fear of annoying anyone.
    Doing flights just to check up hills, the height of masts and chimneys have made the sharp flight much safer. Just go on practising combining camera tilt, angle, forward combined with sideway and height....

    I have been flying for nearly a year now with my Mini 2, but i still fear flying over water because if it comes down, its gone but on land atleast its more retrievable, i trust my drone 100% but what i don't trust is pesky seagulls or other birds who sometimes take aggressive action against my poor little drone, i always make sure before i take off there are no birds about but on the odd occasion they just appear out of nowhere, this can be any location at any time of the day, so i guess really my biggest fear is a bird taking my drone down-especially over water!

    • @nobby-green
      @nobby-green  Рік тому +3

      Yes indeed. Bird attacks are pretty scary. Best solution if they get close is to fly straight up. Birds can’t do that 👍 flick into sports mode and straight up

    Awesome video! Thanks for helping me out!
    I will say for people getting into this fun hobby
    DONT BUY CRAPPY GEAR!!!!
    Look, I know brands like DJI can be super expensive to most of us normal people,
    I understand if you cant afford a DJI drone and I hope you find a good budget one.
    However, if you can stretch out and buy a reliable DJI drone, do it.
    The reason why DJI is so popular is because you can really have faith in your gear, trust that you wont chop fingers off, and importantly, your drone wont get lost or get mad and fly away, it will return back to you safely.
    Personally, I have bought some cheap drones, and yes, I have badly hurt my poor thumbs, but spending the cash on unreliable gear just makes it harder to fly safely, and with confidence.
    I hope this advice can help even just 1 person,
    be sure to remain on the lookout for a used Mavic mini at least.
    Have a wonderful day, stay safe and healthy, and happy flying!

    My courage check was flying over water. My next courage check is to fly over a bridge of traffic. Having faith in the equipment is a great point. Originally, my MP2 kept giving me error messages in the air, sometimes it wouldn't fly, or just drop out of the air (happened twice luckily, I was flying in a field with very high grass). Once I got the Mavic 3, it was so easy and comfortable to fly that it made me relax a little more. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a scary flier, but that's a good thing because a drone is not a toy.

    • @nobby-green
      @nobby-green  Рік тому

      Totally agree. I think we all get anxious from time to time especially when you think you have a couple of thousand pounds/dollars in the air 👍

    • @Mimer6
      @Mimer6 Рік тому

      IF you fly near large steel structures or power lines, you may get an error because the magnetic field shifts there and is not stable. If you fly a drone with 2 GPS antennas (e.g. Matric 30), you don't have that problem because then the drone doesn't care about the magnetic field.

    Is the controller signal blocked if you sit in your car?

  • @Mimer6
    @Mimer6 Рік тому

    The purpose of VLOS is often misunderstood. It's a safety measure so you don't collide with anything. So you shouldn't stare at the drone all the time unless you want to see what's going on around you. That's why you should have a spotter if you fly with FPV glasses, because you can't keep control of the horizon all around in that case. If there is a helicopter, you must go down immediately where you are and land because you have a right of way obligation to everything. So sitting in a car is perhaps not such a good idea when you have to have an overview of the whole environment.
