Woodturning - Woodturning - About Time
In this woodworking video I use a woodturning lathe to turn some yew branches set into epoxy resin.
When woodturning a piece like I find it important to nibble away at it until I see what shape the wood wants to be, this is what is so enjoyable about woodturning. big log to bowl (little bowl) but i find removing the wood in layers allows me to find the best possible shape.

@@JackMackWoodturning Well, my Android cell phone comes with a text editor commanded by a Artificial (not that much) intelligence, which automatically correct what she "think" is a misspelled word
So, many times a day I write a word which is not in her memory and she just "correct" it, placing another one on the text I'm writing
Most of the times a catch her in time to rewrite the word, but sometimes it passes unnoticed and I type "wood" and she writes "would" 🙂
By the way, woodturning is a new English word to me, for which I thank you

When I started watching wood turning videos I didn't expect there'd be so much resin used. Honestly it's a little disappointing how people aren't using only wood.
Iv got 80 odd videos and I think only 5 of them have resin in them. Check out the rest of my videos and let me know if your still disappointed 😜
Fantastic, I had a bunch of red cedar branches leftover from a previous project, this is a fantastic idea! I'll get me some resin ... oh, and a lathe, some chisels ... a workshop, and perhaps some time just to get 'er done! Or, I'll just keep watching your fine videos! Thanks for sharing.

@@JackMackWoodturning I turned metal for a number of years in a machine shop, but to be honest, I miss never turning wood. Well, I turned wood on my machine lathe a few times, but usually just for casting, etc. Someday perhaps - when time allows.
As usual, quality bit of work. I think that the clock face is hugely effective but can't help feeling that the hands would look better if black, more of a contrast.

This was my First of your videos, I was just getting into YT vids, wasn't big on them though, but I do remember really liking the creative idea, I didn't even think of subscribing and all that YT jazz, figures that this is the 'coffee cup' guy as well :) sometimes i just surf randomly with YT though was/am 'drawn' to your videos dude, thanks for sharing :) Jack

@@JackMackWoodturning naw, I love building things, am definitely inspired to try my hand at wood Lathe, Again, tried it once when I was young and full of 'piss and vinegar', I wasn't patient enough for it, amazing how we grow-up what changes in our lives. I'm reminded of mom always encouraging my to eat my veggies, as a child. I can't get enough of them now...
With the contrast, the sticks almost look like bone fragments!

A clock? Oh I love it even more. I am a watch collector and have many different types of wall clocks too. Mantel clocks too. All unique and interesting. 🇺🇲
